ESSAY. Explain in 100 words or less why you want to run for the position and the key points of your platform.

Being a Service Head in the Secretary-General Executive Team for almost a year has immersed me to
the work of the Secretary-General. I believe that the Secretary-General has a great responsibility in
solidifying the communication between the Council, the organizations, and the entire Ateneo
community. With this, I plan to strengthen the external communication through the different services of
the Office of the Secretary-General, level-off information for an efficient internal communication system,
seek formational reform of its stakeholders, and promote effective leadership through visibility and
interaction with other teams in and outside the Council.

PLEDGE

I, Carolyn Suzanne P. Barba , attest to the facts contained in this Certificate of Candidacy and in all
other documents required by the Commission on Elections of the Council of Organizations of the Ateneo (COA). I
thereby give the COA and the Office of Student Activities permission to evaluate the facts contained in all the documents
I have submitted to the COA Commission on Elections.

I swear to uphold the rules stipulated in the COA Electoral Code and by the COA Commission on Elections with full
awareness that the violation of the said rules would result to possible sanctions as stipulated in the COA Electoral Code.

It is my sincere intention to promote a free, honest, and clean election.

IV. PLATFORM

1) COA Rebranding and Identity Campaign

Details:
a) New COA Logo – Under the supervision and approval of the CB and COR, a team composed of organization
representatives and EDP members will be tasked to create a new logo that will best exemplify the Council’s
vision and mission
b) A more aggressive COA Identity Campaign to promote the organizations and raise awareness about the
Council
c) Common design element in the COA Mail, COA Website, and COA Magazine for unified COA identity

2) Reinforcement and Refinement of the Services in the Office of Secretary-General


Details:
a) Streamlining of tasks by reviewing the Office of the Secretary-General Code of Internal Procedures to assure
efficiency and consistency of services
b) Needs assessment or evaluation of the current services through consultation with the CB and COR
c) Externalization of services through Elite Design and Promotions Consultation and Training and Logistics Team
Logistics Information Kit (LogIK) Plus
d) Strengthen documentations-based services for intra-Central Board events
3) Level-off Information for Strong Internal Communication

Details:
a) Strengthen internal communication through continuity of reply culture, transparency in important COA
documents, and use of memos for updates and information dissemination
b) Provide a COA Manual for the services of COA
c) Grand Consultation / General Assembly of Organization Secretary-Generals for familiarization and
consultation with the system of information dissemination

4) Mentorship and Consultation for Formational Reform

Details:
a) Conduct individual consultations with Executive Team members and CB mentees for proper guidance and
evaluation
b) Tie-up with the Finance Officer for training of Secretary-Treasurers
c) Tie-up with the Human Resources and Training & Development Executive Teams for formation seminars
d) Dialogue with institutions and offices for opportunities in social involvement
5) Leader-Member Exchange Model

Details:
The Leader-Member Exchange Model states that effective leadership is determined by the quality of leader-member
relationship. While the other four points are my plans for the Council, this final one is a promise to all its stakeholders.
I will use high-quality leadership strategy which entails more interaction not only in the Council members but in the
entire COA. Expect more visibility and participation from the Secretary-General and the Secretary-General Executive
Team. I will be your SUZIE to a more visible Council, informed organization members, and committed leaders in
Council of Organizations of the Ateneo.
