QUARTER 1. WEEK 1
Discovering Self
through Literature

1. Observe properly the pictures shown above. Guess the answer just like in a word
game, 4 Pics 1 Word. (4 Pics 1 Word is a guessing game. It presents you with
four pictures and then tasks you in guessing what specific word fits with the
theme of the photos presented.)
2. You must put your answer inside the box. Each box must contain one letter to
form a word.

TASK 2: Sign Up!

You most probably have seen one of this spiral-bound type of notebook or shall
we say you have experienced writing on a slambook before. How about doing it now?
You must complete a slambook that has been shown below. Provide words or
expressions appropriate to the given statement. You are free to have your own design or
have the “Do It Yourself” (DIY) personal slambook. You have to remember that you will
use your personal slambook all throughout the module since it will serve as your final
output.
In order to start, make a first page of your slambook by copying the information
given on the format below. Fill out the given information and continue writing your answer
with the heading “Knowing Myself’’ based on the questions:

Task 3: YOUR ROLE SOUNDS FAMILIAR

Are you familiar with the


“frontliners” in our
community? Are you
aware of the important
roles they play in the ‘new
normal’ environment that
we are in today? These
are the people who play
important roles in our
society as frontliners. Can
you recognize them?
To start this task, you must think of an experience how these “frontliners” play their
roles in your community. The following questions will guide you in answering your queries.

a. What are their duties and responsibilities in addressing your problem?


b. Imagine if our community does not have “frontliners”, what do you think will
happen?
c. How about you as a student, do you have an important role in the community
where you live in?

Proceed in building your Slambook and write your reflection/answers under “Let’s
Get Personal.”

Task 4: My Roles in life

In your Slambook with the heading “My Roles in Life,” complete the organizer by
placing your name in the middle circle and write the roles you play in the surrounding
circles. Outside the circle of each role you listed, write “Effective,” Partially Effective,” or,
“Ineffective” according to how you assess yourself.

Task 8: Slambook Challenge

As the world envisions to flatten the curve of COVID-19 pandemic, UNICEF


(United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund), in partnership with the LGU
(Local Government Unit) of our city, invites all enthusiasts to join the challenge in its
campaign in fighting against COVID-19 entitled “Slambook Challenge” with the theme
“Finding Life’s Meaning through Discovering the Self Amidst Covid-19 Pandemic.”

The campaign aims to inspire everyone to continue living life and to help our LGU
raise funds to aid homeless children of our city. The said event is open to all contestants
who are willing to inspire everyone to embrace the “New Normal” situation by showcasing
their talents and creativity. All you need to do is to post your Slambook entry on Facebook
with the hashtag #SlamBookChallenge on or before September 20, 2020. Your entry will
be evaluated according to its completeness, organization, content, language mechanics,
creativity, and originality.
Task 9.

Evidently, you have actively engaged in your previous tasks that help you
improve your understanding of the learning target, and at the same time develop
your language communication skills and become an independent learner.

To further prove your successful and exciting learning experiences, do this


self-reflection activity.
