Across the world, there is a constant struggle between the religious school of thought and the
opponents to this worldview. Especially, in the age of science and technology, the role of
religious preaching seems to be even more important for the following reasons
A) A constant attack from the scientific worldview on the authenticity of the religious principles
and the role of religion in everyday life.
B) Secondly, the need to explain the intricacies of the religious principles in the context of
evolving science and conflicting religious conceptions.
C) Importantly, there seems to be an internal conflict within the religious organizations in terms
of walking the talk. Thereby, the faith in religious organizations have been at higher stake than
ever before.
The above reasons make religion a very complex subject for the common man to appreciate.
This leads to weaker faith in practicing the religious principles. Some or all the above reasons
have led to churches, mosques and temples becoming less popular across the world.
Therefore, the role of preachers has become even more significant considering the modern
religious and spiritual setting.
Ambrose’s life can be a very good example to understand the various nuances of preaching.
Ambrose employed various principles, techniques and importantly demonstrated some very
important religious practices in his preaching. In the rest of this section, we will be exploring
