Cat-fines: New and used
Used catalytic
fines: Catfines
L/74251-5.0/0402 (2160/KEA)
Replica technique:
The density of cat-fines was found
extremely high, with up to 3,000 / cm2.
Acceptable level is below 200 / cm2 !
The sizes vary from 5µm to 15 µm with a
smaller number of ”big” cat-fines in a
range of 20 – 25 µm.
This is a result of in-efficiently
working centrifuges.
Scuffing
REMARK:
Overflow pipe should
always have suction from
the bottom
When sailing outside ECA areas cat fines will settle in the service tank.
To prevent wear the service tank volume must be cleaned before use
from the tank.
To clean the tank in service, a surplus of apx. 10 % should be allowed to
recurculate back to the settling tank, at all times
