MY NURSING PHILOSOPHY
Nursing Philosophy

Ever since I could remember, I’ve always wanted to help people. I didn’t know
how at the time but, I knew I wanted to be a healer. When my mother was a trauma
Memorial trauma team saved my mother’s life and now, I want to comfort others who
really need it. The career of Nursing is a large and diverse professional field that
requires many technical skills and knowledge in order to practice in a competent and
ethical manner. The Miami Dade College Associates in nursing program defines the
practice of nursing as a career with an overall goal of providing safe, effective care, and
promotes physiologic and psychosocial integrity and to meet patient needs. There are 4
main domains under the Nursing profession and those are Nursing, Environment,
attention to detail, patience, and perseverance even in the toughest situations. Nurses
care for patients on a wide scale from acute care to chronic care. The overall goal is to
provide optimal care and make their time while in the hospital or health care setting as
meaningful as possible.
The Environment that a nurse works in plays a vital role in their ability to perform.
Working in a high stress environment and needing to collaborate with other health care
professionals requires the ability to work to handle multiple personalities and being able

component in the nursing field however, it is not always a character trait that everyone
The next domain is Health. Health is the underlying topic surrounding nursing. As
nurses, we are to take care of others during their time of need and also educate them
on how to prevent future health complications. Keeping patients on top of their health is
essential in order to help them manage their diseases and also prevent the spread of
diseases.
The last domain I will speak on is Person, or self. Nursing is a career of the heart
and in order to help others you have to be in tune within yourself. Having the ability to
put aside personal life and focus on making an impact in someone’s stay while under
Nursing is one of the most diverse fields to work in. It takes a strong will and
drive to take on this career and to be able to handle what is thrown in their path. These
domains are essential in order to fully understand and thrive in this career.
