1 MARKING

The marking specifications of the machine purchased by you, including the data of
the manufacturer, the model, the year of production and the technical features are
stated on the stamped metal data plate at the rear of the machine.
The data plate is only one and as it is part of the machine, it cannot be removed or
tampered with.
Only for Europe: the machines shipped to European countries bear the CE mark stamped on the data plate. As a
matter of fact, the RENZACCI machines are manufactured in conformity with the rules set forth in the Machines
Directive 98/37/CE and subsequent amendments.
RENZACCI S.p.A issues for its washing machines of the LX range a Declaration of Conformity CE. This
document is attached to the machine. The owner is bound to carefully keep it during the whole duration of the
machine.

3 USE OF THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL

This manual is addressed to the machine installer and the machine operator and all parts must be read
carefully. This book for the operation and maintenance must be kept in perfect condition nearby the machine
and it must always be available to consult. The symbols used in the manual have the following meaning:

DANGER
Symbol used when the operator’s health or life is endangered
ABSOLUTELY
FORBIDDEN or when serious damages to property may ensue.

ATTENTION
Symbol used to indicate the need to take steps to obtain safe

CAUTION operation without disturbances.

SUGGESTIONS
Symbol used to indicate information to which particular

The manual contains a clear description of the technical and building features of the machine aimed to
installation, training of personnel, use, adjustment, maintenance, precautions for its use, identification and
ordering of spare parts.
Please bear in mind that the manual can never replace proper operator’s experience and that it is meant as a
reminder of the main operations to be carried out. It is in any event always up to the operator to verify the
environmental conditions which assure the correct use of the machine.
Possible specific laws ruling for this type of machine in the country, where it is installed must always be
complied with, even if not expressly provided for in this manual.
This manual reflects the technique in the very moment the machine is purchased. The Company reserves the
right to subsequently modify the instruction manual without giving notice to previous customers. It also
reserves the right to apply modifications to the machines without conforming the instruction manual and the
previous production.
For updates of the instruction manual and for any further information or explanation, which might be
necessary, you can address to the nearest Distributor or after sales service of RENZACCI S.p.A.
RENZACCI S.p.A. considers itself relieved of all responsibility for breakdowns, inconveniences, direct or
indirect damages, and injuries coming from:

- use of the machine by not properly trained personnel;


- improper use of the machine;
- partial or full non-observance of the instructions;
- incorrect installation;
- shortage of the maintenance foreseen;
- unauthorized modifications or interventions;
- non-observance of the instructions relating to the electrical connections;
- faults in the supply by external energy sources;
- the use of not original spare parts or not specific for this model;
- use contrary to the specific national standards;
- calamities and exceptional events.

4 INTENDED USE OF THE MACHINE

The RENZACCI washing machines of the LX range are industrial machines exclusively
designed for professional washing in water of fabrics and clothes, on the labels of which is
expressly indicated the possibility to wash them in water. It is prohibited to use the machines
to wash animals and to treat materials different from what is indicated above.

The maximum load of material allowed to be washed in the LX machines is indicated in the
Technical Data. It is absolutely prohibited to overload the machines, since besides a poor
quality result, abnormal surges could ensue.

It is forbidden to modify the machines, even partially. The manufacturer is not responsible in
case of unauthorised modifications on the machine.

5 INSTALLATION
The installation of the machine must be carried out by qualified and adequately trained
operators in compliance with the standards in force on the installation of industrial machines.
Renzacci S.p.A. considers itself relieved of any damage whatsoever that could be caused to
things and persons by the installation not conforming to the instructions given in this manual
and/or carried out by non-qualified operators.

5.1 TRANSPORTATION
It is recommended, immediately upon arrival of the machine before uncrating it, to notify in writing any
possible damages to the crate caused during transportation to the freight forwarder.
As a matter of fact, in the event that also the machine has been damaged (outside housing or internal
components), the insurance of the freight forwarder will answer only, if these presumed damages have been
immediately notified. Convey the machine in the crate to the spot where the machine has to be installed
using mechanical equipment, such as forklifts or tackles (►Fig. 1) capable of lifting loads according to the
table of the Technical Data (Chapter 2).

5.2 UNCRATING
Proceed to the uncrating of the machine following the procedure as below:
¾ Take off the wooden crate or cage.
¾ Take off the plastic cover.
¾ Check that the machine has not been damaged during transit.
¾ Remove the bolts with which the machine is fastened on the wood.

5.3 MACHINE POSITIONING

Make sure that the floor is sturdy enough for the weight as indicated in the technical data. The machine must
be installed perfectly in level on a rigid floor.
The washing machine has to be anchored on the floor by means of the bolts supplied with the machine.

We recommend to place the machine on a cement base according to the technical drawings:
- DIS. N. I650020000100 for the washing machine LX 16, LX 22, LX 35.
- DIS. N. I676020000100 for the washing machine LX 55.
- DIS. N. I678020010100 for the washing machine LX 70.

¾ Make holes for bolts on the floor or on a cement base.


¾ Fit the holes with the fixing bolts.
¾ Place the washing machine on the base and make it fit with the holes
¾ Fit the bolts in the frame and make sure that bolts are perfectly perpendicular to the base and
nut is placed on top of bolt thread to allow the subsequent anchoring.
¾ Inject cement into the holes until they are filled up.
¾ Just before putting into operation the machine, you have to tighten the fixing nuts. That will
be possible after drying up cement.

5.4 ELECTRIC HOOK-UP
It is necessary to provide protection fuses of the outside power supply line. These fuses must be of the
delayed type.

Make sure that the supply voltage/frequency corresponds with the one on the machine data plate.
For the connection is needed a 5-core cable (3-Phase + Neutral + Ground yellow/green), of proper section
(see wiring diagram).
The wire must be protected by an automatic, magnetothermic switch or by an isolator with delayed fuses,
dimensioned according to the features of the machine.
The connection of the cable with the machine has to be made as follows:

¾ Disconnect the power of the supply cable, viz. to the power user board;
¾ Put the main switch to the "O" position;
¾ Connect three terminals of the supply cable to terminals R S T to the power user board.
¾ Connect the terminal of the Neutral cable (blue coloured) to neutral terminal.
¾ Connect the Ground wire (yellow/green coloured) with the Grounding, which must comply with the
national standards ruling in the country, where the machine is used.
Also, if the isolator is in the "O" position, the three supply wires coming from outside the
machine are alive. In order to operate inside the electric board, disconnect the power user
board switch.

IMPORTANT! Once all connection have been made, the installer must control every single part of the
machine. In particular the installer should attend at least a whole machine cycle; in this case do load the
machine fully.

5.5 WATER CONNECTIONS
Carry out the water connections at points A and B (see technical drawings DIS. N. I6500020000100,
DIS. N. I6760200000100, DIS. N. I6780200000100). Fit an interception shut off valve between the
machine and the supply pipes to interrupt the water flow to the washing machine, both for emergency
situations, if any, and for normal machine maintenance operations.
On the LX 55 and LX 70 machines must be installed a filter to assure the proper operation of the water
inlet solenoid in time.

5.6 WATER DRAINAGE

The return water, both of pre-wash and wash, may be delivered to the sewer, only if its
characteristics are according to the standards provided by the ruling local laws.

5.7 STEAM CONNECTION (steam heated machine)


¾ Carry out the steam supply connection at point O (see DIS. N. I6500020000100, DIS. N.
I6760200000100, DIS. N. I6780200000100), fitting interception shut off valve between the machine and
the supply pipes to interrupt the steam flow to the washing machine, both for emergency situations, if
any, and for normal machine maintenance operations. A filter must be installed in order to assure the
proper operation of the steam inlet solenoid in time.
¾ The steam pressure must not exceed 4.5 bar. In case of a higher pressure fit prior to the
machine a pressure reduction valve with relating control pressure gauge.

5.8 EXHAUST OF THE DRUM


EXHAUST

LX 55/70:
The exhaust of the drum is represented in the picture. RENZACCI S.p.A.
prohibits to start the machine, if the exhaust of the drum is clogged, even
partially, or if the exhaust is connected with the outside by means of a
hose with a smaller diameter or if the connecting hose is in some way
intercepted.
LX16/22/35:
The exhaust of the drum takes place by means of the hole on the rubber
lid of soap pocket. RENZACCI S.p.A. prohibits to start the machine, if
this hole is occluded.

WARNING: once all connection have been made, the installer must control every single part of the
machine; in particular the installer should attend at least a whole machine cycle; in this case do load the
machine fully.

6 SAFETY DEVICES

6.1 ISOLATOR
The isolator has the function of disconnecting the power supply line; whenever
necessary turn the red handle to the "O" position, thus acting on the main power supply
of the machine which is so disconnected. Even though the isolator is in the "O" position,
the three feeding wires coming from outside the machine will stay alive. To work inside
the electric board panel, switch off the power user board switch.

6.2 EMERGENCY STOP SWITCH (only LX55 and LX70)


This device makes it possible to interrupt the computer immediately stopping all
machine functions, without interrupting the power supply. The operation of the
computer is recovered by turning the head clockwise.

6.3 DOOR INTERLOCK SYSTEM


This device keep the loading door locked during machine operation, avoiding the risk the loading door is
opened inadvertently, while the drum is moving.
The micro-switch connected to locked device prevents the machine from operating, either in automatic or
manual mode, if the loading door is open.
RENZACCI S.p.A. prohibits the tampering or the modification of above safety device.

To open the loading door:

¾ Activate the loading door pushbutton


¾ Wait for the loading door opening (aprox. 45 sec.).
After the above operations the loading door opens automatically.

IMPORTANT: Do not force the door handle without pressing the loading door opening pushbutton.

Opening of the loading in absence of electric power

In case it is necessary to open the loading door in absence of electric power, unlock the same by using
a tool similar to the one indicated in fig. (example: a hex key wrench given with the machine)
Introduce the tool in the emergency unlock opening area, and then pull down.

UNLOCK IN CASE OF ABSENCE OF ELECTRIC POWER

6.4 DOOR OPENING DELAY TIMER


This device delays the opening of the door by approx. 45-50 seconds allowing the turning drum to come to a
stop. It is automatically activated each time the door has to be opened. The delay time is adjustable through
the computer. At the end of the cycle do not force the door open, before the delay time is over.
RENZACCI S.p.A. prohibits to reduce the time of the above delay timer.

6.5 HEATER LOCK


The heater, even if enabled, will not start working, both in automatic and manual, until the water level has
reached the minimum. When the level is reached, the heater will be enabled.

6.6 EXTRACT LOCK


The extraction, even if enabled, will not start, until the minimum water level has been reached. When the
level is reached, the extraction will be enabled.

6.7 SAFETY LEVELS


The sensor of the minimum water level in the drum does not allow to open the door, until this level has
dropped below the safety threshold.
RENZACCI S.p.A. prohibits the tampering or the modification of the above level sensor.

7 INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION

Before starting the machine make sure that:


- The main switch is in position “1”.
- The hot and cold water inlet cocks and also the steam, if applicable, are open.
Once all inlets have been opened, the washing machine can be loaded with the laundry to be washed making
sure that the machine is not loaded over its capacity (see the table of the technical data).

Then put the soaps in the proper pocket of the machine: for the pre-wash pocket A, for the main wash pocket
B and for liquid additives, if required, in pocket C.

LIQUID ADDITIVES

The quantity of soap to be used varies according to its type and brand, the level of dirtiness of the items to be
washed and the hardness of the water used. For this reason it is recommended to follow the indications given
by the soap supplier.

After having opened all supply sources of the machine, loaded the items to be washed and put the soap in the
proper pockets, the machine is ready for operation.
The operator can control and check the operation of the LX washing machine by means of the computer
control panel. Two modes are possible:
¾ AUTOMATIC
¾ MANUAL
When turning the main switch to position “1”, the machine is alive, the computer display shows as the first
page (stand-by) a page in which can be selected the operation mode: AUTOMATIC or MANUAL. All
information relating to the use of the computer and hence the setting modes of the instructions for manual or
automatic operation are described in the chapter 7.

8 OPTIONS

8.1 SOAP DOSING PUMPS


The soap dosing pumps makes it possible to use the exact quantity of additives. Upon request the pumps can
be from 1 to 4.

The operation of the pumps 1, 2, 3 and 4 can be directly controlled by the computer by the keys #13, #9, #10,
#11 and #12.

The nominal capacity of each pump is 1.46 l/min. (88 l/hour). This value is the result of experiments carried
out by using water as the liquid to work with.
The capacity is reduced according to the increase of the viscosity. Therefore, when using soaps the actual
capacity will be lower than the nominal value, which will vary according to the type of soap used. The
customer is advised to carry out some tests with the soap he uses in order to measure the time necessary to
pump the quantity required and then to insert in the automatic wash programmes the time necessary to
activate the pump.

IMPORTANT! The soap dosing pumps, as said above, work with time. When a wash programme is set out
and the soap dosing pumps have to be used, the soap-dosing pump must not be inserted in the programme
step relating to the filling of water, otherwise the pumps remain activated the whole time of the level pause!
It is recommended to make steps on purpose with the activation of the pumps for the time necessary for the
introduction of the quantity of additives required, to be inserted before or after the step with the level pause.

If it is necessary to activate more than one pump for different times, it will be recommendable to insert a step
for each pump, in which can be inserted the time required.

8.2 LITRE METER
The litre meter makes it possible to dose the exact quantity of water for washing, thus allowing washing any
quantity of laundry, full or partial load, always meeting the right proportions of water and additives.
The litre counter can be programmed directly by means of the computer of the machine, both in automatic
and in manual (see paragraphs 9.6 e 9.17). The wash cycle can be started now, either manual or automatic. It
will be sufficient to enable the cold water inlet and automatically the litre counter will interrupt the water
inlet, as soon as the necessary quantity has been loaded. While the water is entering the drum, the display
will show the quantity being loaded.

9 USE OF THE COMPUTER
9.1 INTRODUCTION
The computer manages all the machine functions and makes it possible to work in AUTOMATIC or
MANUAL. With the computer R-36 can be controlled: the level in the drum, the heating, the rpm for the
washing, the rpm for the speed extraction and the litre meter for the cold water (optional).
It is possible to operate the machine by means of the wash programmes supplied by RENZACCI S.p.A. or to
create new ones according to the most different requirements. Up to 30 programmes of 25 steps each can be
memorized.

The computer uses a menu system, to which: AUTOMATIC, MANUAL, MAIN MENU, LIST OF
PROGRAMMES, can be gained access by means of the two stand-by pages as shown below. The first stand-
by page contains the selectable AUTOMATIC and MANUAL and is the page appearing when the computer
is switched on and to which can be returned from any page by pressing the ESC key. The first stand-by page

9.2 COMPUTER KEYS

The keys to be used for surfing the menu are:

In order to insert times, temperatures and other numbers you will use the number keys marked by the

9.3 START-UP AND SELF-TEST
At start-up, the display lights up and lists the loaded software version. The computer will perform an internal
test cycle and the buzzer will sound for a short time. All the LEDs turn on. This phase lasts for several
seconds and then the machine is operative.

9.4 ADJUSTING THE DISPLAY CONTRAST


The contrast can be adjusted only in standby (►par. 9.1), by repeatedly pressing the following keys:

• key 1 to increase the contract (each time you press key #1 the display will get darker).

• key 2 to diminish the contrast (at each time you press key #2 the display will get brighter).

9.5 MANAGING HOT AND COLD WATER IN AUTOMATIC


The computer permits innovative management of the process for mixing hot and cold water, optimising the
consumption of hot water based on the selected wash temperature.
Simply set the input for hot and cold water and then select the amount of water to be let in, choosing the
option “Low level” or “High level” through the computer.
Depending on the temperature that has been sent, the computer will call in cold or hot water in alternation,
checking with the frequency that can be set on the computer to verify if the water inside the drum is over or
under the set quantity.
Mixing continues until the preset level has been reached. At this point, if necessary it is possible to enable
heating in order to finish heating the water in the drum.

NOTE: To disable the mixing of and at the same time open the hot and cold water inlets, it will be necessary
to set at zero the times “COLD WATER” and “WARM WATER” of MENU SET (see paragraph 9.18.2). It
is recommended to disable the mixing for those operators which have only cold water. By doing so the
quantity of water entering the drum can be increased and consequently the time necessary to reach the level
as set will be remarkably reduced.

The amount of water that is added can also be monitored using the exclusive “LITRE
METER”, which is optional for machines designed for “WET CLEANING”. In this case, the
desired quantity can be preset on the computer display and the addition of cold water can be
enabled.

9.6 USING THE COMPUTER IN MANUAL MODE

In the manual mode the machine functions are directly activated by pressing the relating keys.

• Press the button once to turn it on and press it again to turn it off.
• Using the EDIT key (and Æ if necessary), on the display you can vary all the functions that do not
have a direct button:
– the pauses for high level, low level, cool-down and level in litres
– the heating temperature, the litres to be loaded, run/pause, motor speed
– outputs 14 and l5.
• After modifying a value, press ENTER to confirm.

If the machine is equipped with the litre meter, follow these instructions to set the litres to be loaded:

1. From stanby pages, press the Æ key until to reach: MANUAL


2. Press ENTER and then EDIT. The temperature numbers will flash and they can be varied and then
confirmed using the Æ key.
3. At this point, the display will show a flashing line from which you can use the EDIT key to scroll until
you come to LITRES>>> flashing.
4. Press Æ. The 3 numbers indicating the number of liters (000 or others) will flash.
5. Set the desired litres using the number keys and confirm by pressing ENTER.
6. The display will now show the room temperature and not the one that has been set, and LITRES 000
since it is ready for water to be added and measured.

During draining, the litre meter will be reset.

9.6.1 MANUAL WASH

The wash and the pre-wash are phases of the wash process having the same operation sequence.
Obviously some parameters of functions set can vary, such as the value of the temperature and the right
moment.
¾ Set the level required (e.g. LOW LEVEL).
¾ Set the temperature.
¾ Select the functions: Clockwise rotation, Anticlockwise rotation, Hot water,
Cold water, Heating.
The machine will automatically take in the quantity of water required, properly
mixing it to the temperature required. At the same time it will start the wash phase.

If you are loading both hot and cold water, programming the high or low level, and have enabled heating, the
computer will perform these operations while remaining in a pause mode. During the pause, the machine will
continue to operate without decreasing the step time.

If you are loading both hot and cold water, programming the litre meter for the cold water, the computer will
perform these functions remaining in pause mode. During the pause, the machine will continue to operate
without decreasing the step time.

9.8 ALARMS
When an alarm is triggered, the buzzer sounds intermittently and the display shows the names of the alarms
that have come up.
At the end of an alarm that has intervened during automatic mode, you can decide to interrupt the
programme by pressing STOP or to continue its execution by pressing START (only in manual mode).

• To silence the buzzer, press any button.


• The START and STOP keys are activated automatically at the end of the alarm. In this condition, the key will
flash.
• If START or STOP is pressed before the cause that triggered the alarm has been eliminated, the message
"ALARM STILL ACTIVE" will appear on the display.
• The alarms are disabled in standby.

9.9 MESSAGES

Function-related messages
• If outputs 3 and 4 are activated when there is liquid in the drum (high and low level inputs), the
output will turn off automatically and the "DRUM STILL OPEN" message will come up on the
display.
• If outputs 3 and 4 are activated before the drum output (relay 8), the output will turn off
automatically and the "DRAIN STILL CLOSED" message will come up on the display.
• If output 7 is activated when there is no liquid in the drum (level inputs open), the output will turn
off automatically and the "HEATING NO LOAD" message will come up on the display.

Pause messages
During the pauses, the display will alternate the following messages:
• "PAUSE / HIGH LEVEL"

9.10 BLACKOUT
If there is a power outage during an automatic wash cycle, the machine will be in the blackout alarm mode
when it turns again and the START and STOP will flash. Press START to start up the programme from the
beginning of the step during which the blackout occurred Press STOP to return to STANDBY.

9.11 HEATER

In order to turn on the heater (button 7) the drum must be full at least to the low level. Otherwise, the
output is not enabled and the "HEATING NO LOAD" message appears.
The heater is regulated by the thermostat:

During operation, the temperature measured by the probe is displayed, while in EDIT or programming the
thermostat cut-in point is shown.
As soon as the heater turns on, the heating pause starts automatically. The pause ends as soon as the set
temperature has been reached, or at most within a maximum time that can be set through MENU SET. At the
end of the pause, the thermostat maintains the temperature as long as button 7 is active.
• When executing the level together with heating, first the level is performed, followed by heating.

Note: timing stops during the pause. In calculating programme duration, the heating time is not counted.

9.12 LEVELS
Performing the level means sending liquid into the drum. You can choose from low level, high level and
level selected using the litre meter.
To pause the level you must:
• Programme the step (or turn on in manual mode) for at least one of the waters (hot, cold or soft)
• On the display, set the type of level: low, high, in litres.

In automatic mode, the pause starts with the step. At the end of the level pause, the computer shuts off the
water and the detergent pump. Then it continues with the time set in the step.
The level cannot be performed during the same step as the cool down.
During the next steps, you can add more water or detergent without modifying the acquired level.

• The level will not start if the drum output is on.


• From MENU SET, you can set the maximum pause times for the low level and the high level after
which the computer will go into alarm mode.

9.13 HOT WATER + COLD WATER
When both hot and cold (or soft) water are programmed in the same step, this activates automatic adjustment
of the temperature of the water being let in.

After a time that can be adjusted from the menu (independent for hot and cold water), the computer measures
the temperature that has been reached. If the temperature is lower than what has been set, the flow of cold
water is stopped and hot water is added for the time set using MENU SET. The reverse procedure will take
place if the temperature is higher than the set temperature.
The cycle is repeated until the end of the step, manual shutdown of the operations or when the set level has
been reached.

9.14 COOLDOWN
Cool down adds cold water but avoids fraying the load with a thermal shock. The computer combines speed
with delicacy by constantly measuring the water temperature. If the cooling is too fast, the computer will
modulate the incoming flow.

• During cool down, the computer goes into pause mode. The maximum duration of the pause (beyond
which the computer goes into alarm mode) is set using the menu.
• Cool down initially empties the drum to the low level (outputs 5 and 6 disabled, output 8 on).
• Subsequently, the computer disables output 8 and allows the water in to reach the high level.
Measuring the temperature constantly, the computer decides if it should continue to add water or if it
should pause to avoid overly fast cooling.
• When it reaches the high level, if the temperature is higher than the temperature set in the step, the
cycle is repeated from the beginning.
• At the end of cool down, outputs 5 and 6 are off, while output 8 stays on until the end of the step
time.

Cool down is adjusted on two different levels: COOLDOWN+ and COOLDOWN-. With COOLDOWN+
can be associated, from MENU SET, a value of the temperature difference (temperature variation in one
minute) variable from 0 to 20 and for COOLDOWN- from 0 to 10. Therefore, if a more powerful cooling
over the 10°C/min. is required, the COOLDOWN+ has to be used. The calculation of the temperature
difference is carried out every 15 seconds.

9.17 LITRE METER (optional)
The machines equipped with litre meters make it possible to fill the drum with the amount of litres of water
required. To set the amount of litres in the MANUAL mode see the instructions in paragraph 9.6.
If the amount of litres has to be set or modified in a program step in AUTOMATIC follow the procedure below:

1) Press the MENU key until you reach: AUTOMATIC


2) Press the MENU key twice, the following writing will appear: MAIN MENU
3) Press ENTER, the following writing will appear: MENU PROG
4) Press ENTER and the appropriate password (see page 29) : the display will show the last programme
carried out.
5) Press the EDIT key: the number of the programme visualized will flash.
6) Repeatedly press the EDIT key up to the programme number required or directly digit the number.
7) Confirm in any case by pressing the ENTER key.
8) Go to the programme step, in which you want to set the amount of litres (you can go from one step
to another by pressing more than once the Æ key (MENU) until GO ON enter, then press the
ENTER key and you will be in the subsequent step).
9) Press the Æ key: the display will show the programme step to be carried out.
10) Press the Æ key again: the page will be visualized, in which you can insert the outputs, the step time,
the temperature, the levels, the litres (only for machines equipped with litre meters) and the
cooldown+ or cooldown-.
11) Digit EDIT: the time will flash with the first two figures for the minutes and the last two figures for
the seconds. With the number keys enter the step time required (example: to enter 2,30 min., digit
the keys 2-3-10 (10=0)). To cancel, digit the key 10 more than once.
12) Pressing the Æ key: the temperature will flash, which can be set by input the value required.
13) Press the Æ again: the low level, the high level, the litres (in the machines with litre meter), the cool
down+ and cool down- can be set. When pressing EDIT you will see the various options which can
be selected. In order to insert the number of the litres in the pos. LITRES>>> flashing, press Æ: on
the display will be visualized the three figures to be inserted by means of the number keys.
14) Set the litres required and confirm by means of the ENTER key.
15) Press Æ in order to go to the next page and proceed with the programmino of the wash cycle.
Note: The litre meter, which upon request are fitted on the washing machines, has a sensor which generates a
pulse every 250 ml. Therefore the number of pulses per litre, which can be set in the MENU SET, is factory
set at 4 (4 IMPULSES/LITRE).

This is the menu you can use to create or modify the programmes that can be used in automatic mode.
Capacity: 30 programmes with 25 steps each. To access MENU PROG, follow the instructions in the
foregoing paragraph. The table below shows the screen pages that appear in sequence during programming,
with the relevant notes and instructions.
Likewise for the other menus, the positions that can be modified of the various pages of the MENU PROG
and the same pages, can be run through by means of the Æ key. The values flashing on the display, can be
changed by entering the values required by means of EDIT or with the number keys. Once the value required
has been entered, press ENTER to confirm the value or Æ to confirm the value entered and proceed to
highlighting the subsequent value.

9.18.3 MENU COPY

In this menu it will be possible to:


- Cancel a single programme or all from the computer memory (RESET MEMORY);
- Cancel a single programme or all stored in the black memory card (RESET CARD);
- Copy the programmes, sub-programmes and the menu set from the computer to the black memory
card or the other way round (COPY TO CARD or COPY FROM CARD).
If you want to COPY FROM CARD, COPY TO CARD and RESET CARD it will be necessary to insert the
memory card in the proper slot in the computer (see below).

In order to insert the memory card it will be necessary to follow the instructions below:
- Switch off the power to the machine by putting the main switch on “O”. This not only safeguards the
operator’s safety, but also avoids the loss of data stored in the computer memory.
- Disassemble the cover panel of the machine’s electric board.
- Inset the key in the proper slot marked by the writing “MEMORY CARD”.
- Replace the cover panel to its seat.
- Switch on the machine again by putting the main switch on “I”.
- Carry out all operations required COPY FROM CARD, COPY TO CARD or RESET CARD.
- Switch off the power to the machine, remove the memory card and assemble the upper panel of the
housing again.

9.19 SOFTWARE UPDATE WITH THE GREEN CARD MEMORY CARD

The machine is shipped with last version of the software of the computer.
If after some working years the software installed on the computer must be updated for some reason, we can
supply a green memory card available on request and on payment.

With the machine turned off, insert the appropriate GREEN memory card. Turn on the electrical power and
wait for the new software version to appear (about 30 seconds).
Do not leave the memory card inserted or the programming will be repeated each time the machine is turned
on, wearing out the memory.

Important: check the first four digits of the checksum/keylock for confirmation that the programming has
been performed normally. The checksum automatically appears when the system is turned on, just under the
message R16 and the software version:

10 MAINTENANCE
To maintain during time the functionality and washing efficiency of the LX washing machine,
it is necessary that every 6 months a skilled technician carry out the maintenance operations
described in this paragraph.
Before starting whatever maintenance operation on the machine, take off the power of the
machine putting the main switch on “O” position and take off all the sources of the machine.

1) Verify and regulate the driving belt. Disassemble the rear panel, verify the tension of the
driving belts and if it is necessary, regulate the tension adjusting the position of the motor plate (see
below figure) till the belts are well under tension.

2) Cleaning of the machine’s inlet water filters (LX16 / LX 22 / LX 35). Close the water and
steam inlet gate valves. Unscrew the inlet piping and extract the filtering elements with a pair or
pliers (see figure below). To remove eventual dirt, clean the filters with compressed air or with a
strong water flow. Re-insert the filtering elements in their place and re-connect the inlet piping.

3) Bearings greasing. Remove the rear protection panel of the machine. If in proximity of the drum
shaft support there is a lubricating leak, grease the bearings using a grease gun that must be connect
to the greasing nipple (see below figure).

11 TROUBLE SHOOTING

THE DRUM DOES NOT ROTATE OR DOES NOT EXTRACT


1) THE INTERNAL MOTOR OVERLOAD RELAY OF THE MAIN MOTOR INVERTER CUTS OUT
a) Wait for it to cool down.
b) Check the incoming wires of the inverter and the motor. Tighten them, if necessary.
c) Check the motor condition. Repair or replace it, if necessary.
2) MOTOR BURNT
a) If the motor is burnt, replace it or rewind it.
3) MOTOR OVERLOAD
a) Wait for it to cool down.
4) VERIFY THAT THE BELTS ARE TIGHT
a) Adjust or replace the belts, if necessary. Replace all belts at the same time.
5) CHECK THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMES FOR THIS OPERATION
Verify that in the computer programme a wash or extraction phase is provided.
6 EVERYTHING IS OK, BUT THE MACHINE DOES NOT EXTRACT
a) Make sure that the computer cycle provided for the drainage before the machines goes to the extract phase.
b) Make sure that the level sensor works properly.

NOISE DURING THE EXTRACTION


1) MAIN MOTOR BEARINGS WORN OUT
a) Replace the bearings.
2) MAIN SHAFT BEARINGS WORN OUT
a) Replace the bearings and seals.

THERE IS A NOISE INSIDE THE DRUM


1) THERE MUST BE SOMETHING METALLIC CAUGHT IN BETWEEN THE DRUM AND THE
ROTATING BODY
a) Remove it and try again.
b) Make sure that on the clothes there is nothing to cause this noise.
2) THE NOISE OCCURS ONLY FOR SHORT PERIODS DURING THE EXTRACTION PHASE
This is caused by the heating elements; only if excessive, check that they are properly screwed tight.
3) MAKE SURE THAT THE NOISE DOES NOT COME FROM THE BELTS
a) Adjust the belts, if necessary.
b) Replace the belts, if necessary. They have to be replaced with a complete set of matching new belts.
c) The noise can come from the protection of the bearings. Replace the bearings and seals.

THE DRUM TURNS IN ONLY ONE DIRECTION


CHECK THAT THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING IS SUITABLE FOR THE DRUM ROTATION
a) Adjust the RUN-PAUSES in Menu Set and check that they have been properly set in the program being used.

THE MOTOR GETS VERY HOT


THERE ARE POWER VARIATIONS IN THE ELECTRIC SUPPLY LINE.
a) The voltage of the electric supply line must correspond with the connections of the motors. The max. variation
can be +/- 5%.

TOTAL STOP OF THE MACHINE, IN ANY PHASE. PRESSING THE

1) POWER OF THE AUXILIARY CIRCUIT TOO LOW
a)The power must be 24V. If it is lower by 3-4V, shift the terminal wire of the 24V transformer to the 26V
terminal.
2) ONE OR MORE PHASES ARE FAILING
a) Check the fuses of the main switch outside the machine, and if necessary replace it.

THE MACHINE DOES NOT WORK (the control lights are not lighted)
1) THE MACHINE POWER SWITCH IS OFF
a) Check that the switch on the front of the machine is in “ON” position.
b) Check that the main switch outside the machine is in “ON” position.
c) Check that there is power.
2) MAYBE THE MAIN FUSES ARE BURNT
a) Turn the machine off and check the fuses.
b) Isolate and eliminate the problems relating to the fuses, if they are burnt.
3) THE VOLTAGE TO THE MACHINE IS NOT CORRECT
a) Make sure that the supply voltage is the same as on the machine data plate.
b) Check that the switch installed on the supply line to the machine is adequate.

THE MACHINE DOES NOT WORK


ARE THERE ANY FAULT INDICATIONS ON THE COMPUTER DISPLAY?
a) If so, check and correct the alarm.
b) If not, make sure that the power to the computer is 24V; if there is power, check that the fuses inside the
computer are all right.
