Centralized vacuum systems create and maintain vacuum in a system by means of information that comes from an
electronic control unit by means of an absolute pressure sensor installed on the tank.
Each system has a START parameter and a STOP parameter. The software installed in the PLC controls operation
of the vacuum pump(s) automatically depending on the type of system and guarantees even wear and tear of
pumps (for systems with more than one pump).
Programming and management of MENU parameters are protected by three password levels. Thanks to this
precaution, staff members can work on functions that fall within their area of qualification.
• Password level 0 (Operator)
• Password level 1 (Maintenance)
• Password level 2 (Factory)

• Temperature (°C / °F) – [ Default setting: °C ]
• Brightness of display.
• Setting time / day / month / year.
3 – UNIT SETUP
3.1 - PUMP CAPACITY
Setting range: from 50 to 50,000 litres/minute (5 l/min. steps).
Default setting: 1000 l/min (to be modified depending on reference unit).
3.6 – EMERGENCY PUMP TIME [this is only active on vacuum systems Duplex and Triplex]
Permissible setting: YES / NO.
Default setting: NO.
If setting is NO: pumps will work in accordance to the ON / OFF parameters that have been set.
If setting is YES: Setting range from 1 to 60 min. (default setting 5 min.). The vacuum system works as follow:
In case the air entering the system prevents the pump to reach the STOP pressure value, the reserve pump (the
one with less working hours) starts working after that the set time (counted from the turning on of the pump) has
elapsed. When the second pump starts working , the countdown of the set time begins again and if at the deadline
the pressure has not reached the STOP pressure value yet, the third pumps starts working.
In this way it is possible to equilibrate the working hours of the pumps.
3.9 – PUMPS WORKING TIME BALANCE [this is only active on vacuum systems Duplex and Triplex]
Permissible setting: YES / NO.
Default setting: NO.
This parameter allows the PLC software to manage the work of each pump in order to balance the working hours.
3.10 - RESTART
Permissible setting: MANUAL / AUTOMATIC.
Default setting: MANUAL.
If setting is MANUAL: if a power failure occurs and the switchboard goes off, when power is resumed, the PLC
puts itself in OFF condition and the "No Power" alarm message appears. The pumps of the vacuum system are off.
If setting is AUTOMATIC: if a power failure occurs and the switchboard goes off, when power is resumed, the
vacuum system starts automatically depending on the pressure of the system.
DANGER: considering the risk relating to use of this operation, read the "Instructions for use"
paragraph of the use and maintenance manual with particular care!
3.11 – EMERGENCY PUMP [this is only active on vacuum systems Duplex and Triplex]
Permissible setting: YES / NO.
Default setting: NO.
If setting is YES: setting range from 1 to 3 (default setting: 1). This parameter allows the selection of the pump,
which is NOT used during the normal functioning of the unit, but only in case a working pump fails or a pump is
momentarily stopped for maintenance.
NOTE: during the first start of the day of the unit the reserve pump is activated for a sigle cycle in order to
verify its correct functioning.
3.18 – ENABLING SENSORS (only if sensor kit is installed, signalling the efficiency of the exhaust filter, oil
temperature and level – available upon demand)
Permissible setting: YES / NO.
Default setting: NO.
If setting is NO: the sensor kit is not fitted to the pump/s and the PLC will not be displaying the following
parameters:
• Temperature parameter and all temperature controls (parameter 5 - Temperature);
• In the main visualization of Measurement menu (MIS) is not active the visialization of the oil temperature of the
pump/s;
• Temperature alarm parameter (STx) (Parameter 9 - Alarms);
• Oil level alarm parameter (LOx) (Parameter 9 - Alarms);
• Pressure switch alarm parameter (PRx) (Parameter 9 - Alarms);
If setting is YES: the sensor kit is fitted to the pump/s and the PLC will be displaying all following parameters are
displayed:
• Temperature parameter (parameter 5 - Temperature);
• In the main visualization of Measurement menu (MIS) is active the visialization of the oil temperature of the
pump/s;
• Temperature alarm parameter (STx) (Parameter 9 - Alarms);
• Oil level alarm parameter (LOx) (Parameter 9 - Alarms);
• Pressure switch alarm parameter (PRx) (Parameter 9 - Alarms);
ATTENTION: if there is no sensor kit fitted to the pump, this parameter must be set to NO otherwise the
PLC will not give the authorisation to start (I - ON) at the vacuum system.
4 – PRESSURES
4.1 - High vacuum alarm (P1)
900
Setting range: from 0 to (P2-25) mbar (Abs.). ALL - P4
5 – OIL TEMPERATURES
The following parameters refer to the temperature of the oil in the tank of the pump/s and allow the visualization of
the temperarture on PLC display only if the sensor kit is installed, showing the efficiency of the exhaust filter, oil
temperature and level.
NOTE: the values of the parameters must be T1>T2>T3>T4.
6 – PUMPS CORRENTS
NOTE: the setting must be entered in PLC following this order 1, A2. A3 and respecting this proportion
A1>A2>A3.
7 - TIMER
Permissible setting: YES / NO.
Default setting: NO.
Thanks to this parameter it is possible to set 3 different daily time slots during which the starting (I – ON) and stop
(0 – Off) of the unit may be planned together with the programming of the 2 different pressure levels (1° and 2°
level; see 4 – Pressures) assigned to each time slot.
If setting is NO: the parameter is deactivated.
If setting is YES: the symbol of the clock (see Display visualizations) appears in the PLC display, either the unit is
working or not.
In case the pressure parameter 2° level is activated (see 3.12 – 4.6 – 4.7) in TIMER menu together with ON and
OFF parameters, the LIV settings will be displayed allowing the control of the 3 time slots of START/STOP
assigned both to 1° and 2° level of pressure.
Activating this parameter, that is, the activation of START (I –ON)/STOP (0 –OFF) by means of the timer, in any
case it is possible to turn the unit on bypassing this set parameter (TIMER), holding I (ON) button down for 5
seconds. When the unit is turned on, it automatically re-starts working respecting the previously saved time slots.
Similarly, press 0 button (OFF) to turn the unit off (in case of unscheduled stop) in TIMER mode.
NOTE: the signal comes from the remote emergency button START/STOP (see 4.8.2 in Use and
Maintenance Manual) and it is active only when TIMER parameter is in NO mode. In other words, when
TIMER parameter is in YES mode, the remote START/STOP function is not active.
8 – MAINTENANCE
If the new setting is lower than the countdown underway, the latter is reset.
The countdown refers to the hours of work of each pump (hours of work are counted down); when the countdown
reaches 0, the relative maintenance alarm is given and the countdown is continued in negative.
Hours are memorised every 15 minutes. If a power failure occurs during the countdown, the 15-minute lapse of time
will not be considered.
With the maintenace message on the display the yellow signal of the optional alarm visualization kit turns on and
RL5 relay contact is closed. (see section 9 – Alarms and vacuum unit maintenance manual).
NOTE: cancel the displayed alarms, once maintenance is carried out. After cancellation of the alarms the
calculation starts again to signal the next maintenance alarm.
9 - ALARMS
The access to this menu section (password level 0 – Operator) allows the visualization of the alarms with relative
codes, meaning, progressive number, cause, date and time of the event.
The memory may contain till 100 alarms and message nr. 101 cancels the first alarm and so on.
If the memory is empty, the message “EMPTY MEMORY” appears.
When an alarm is obtained, in the low right part of the display the symbol of “Alarm Presence” (triangle) appears
and the red Led (Alarm Presence) turns on, RL6 relay on NC is closed and button F4 alternatively changes meaning
from Measurement to Alarm (ALL). Selecting F4 (when on ALL) it is possible to visualize the generated alarm.
