Reflections of Collaborative Learning: Student-Team-Achievement-Divisions (STAD)
As per my plan to conduct the activity, the following are the steps I have implemented:
Content is delivered to the students for 2 sessions.
Objective of the activity is explained to the students and the teams were formed
in 1 session.
Conducted the activity for 4 sessions where the students in team go through the
concrete material provided, use the web sources, discuss and solve the given
task.
Conducted test to the individual in team to solve the given task for 1 session.
Conducted group quiz to assess the team for 1 session.
Discussed the benefits of Collaborative learning activity to students and motivated them
to participate actively. Explained the outcomes of the activity and the students were
asked to take the quiz on learning styles to form teams.
2.3 Activity:
The following is the description on how I have implemented the activity in my class:
For the first 2 sessions, I asked the students to refer the material given to them,
memorize the fundamental content delivered, refer prescribed text books or web
sources and asked them to discuss and learn the differences between active &
passive filters, types of filters, first order filter analysis & design in a team.
For the next 2 sessions, I continued the activity by asking the students to learn
the second order filter analysis & design steps by referring the sources available.
During the activity, the student involvement in the discussion, interest in learning the
concept, team work & individual performance is observed. The following are the points
observed during the implementation of activity:
