    What Teachers Should Know?

    BOOK REVIEW

    Introduction
    The current system of education encouraged teachers to integrate
    technology in the teaching and learning process. Educators understand that
    technology offers great advantages that help the teachers and the learners to
    accomplish their task in a simplest manner. Technology in education is an
    avenue to discover opportunities that will improve the learning of the learners,
    and improvement of the methods, approaches and techniques of the teachers.

    Critical Review
    Technology in education refers to the application of technology to any of
    those processes involved in educational institutions. It is likewise refers to the
    learning technologies that can be used to reinforce the learning processes. The
    use of different modern technologies such as computers, smartboards, tablets
    and iPads develop the students to be constructivist and independent learners.
    Moreover, the use of technology caters different learning styles so that the
    teacher’s tasks become easier.

    On the other hand, some researches showed a technological gap between


    the students and their teachers but it is not too difficult to address. This calls
    the attention of the teachers to learn new technologies in order to respond on
    the demands of the learners. The learners today are Digital Natives who embraces
    all the capabilities of the modern technology that make them a multitasker.
    However, being a multitasker reflects that learners increased distractibility and
    poor executive control abilities. This somehow showed that technology has also
    drawbacks if the teachers and other concern did not guide the learners on the
    proper use of a particular technology such as internet or internet-based
    activities.

    The teachers should select and use appropriate technology, which helps
    to improve and increase the performance of the learners. They should apply and
    follow the guiding principles on how to prepare effective presentations and other
    technology-based instructional materials.

    Conclusion

    Technology in education is very effective in the teaching and learning


    process if it is use and apply appropriately. Teachers should be observant on
    the attitudes and behaviors of the learners towards the new technologies to avoid
    misuse and misconception.
