Subject: - Application for Moot Court Committee/Convener at Moot Court Association 2019-20.
Respected Ma’am,
In lieu of the constitution of Moot Court Association (MCA) for the academic year 2019-20, I,
Mohd Yasin of 5th Year (Sec-A) wish to be the Co-convener of the Moot Court Committee. The instant
application is submitted in pursuance of the notice dated 04/09/2019 displayed on the Notice Board
inviting applications for the constitution of Moot Court Association 2018-19. The portfolio and
previous experiences have been stated below. Moreover, the ‘Statement of Purpose’ has also been
attached herewith this application.
As far as the previous experience in the Moot Court fraternity is concerned, I have so far
participated in a total of six Moot Court Competitions including One International Moot Court, Four
National Moot Courts and One Intra-faculty Moot Court. Though they haven’t brought me stupendous
laurates, yet I have been a ‘Semi-finalist’, in 35th BCI All India Moot Court Competition 2019, ‘Quarter-
finalist’ in 1st CTCL-NLU Delhi Insolvency and Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition in 2017. I was
also awarded with the ‘Best Memorial Award’ in the Intra-faculty Moot Court Competition at F/o Law,
JMI in 2017. Amongst the prestigious moots of our country, I have also participated in the 5th RMLNLU
SCC Online International Media Law Moot Court Competition 2017. In essence, an umpteen exposure
and experience suffices to make me able to apply for convener in the Moot Court Committee.
With regard to the experience served in any capacity of the Moot Court Association, I was the
co-convener of the Moot Court Committee for the academic year 2019-20. I have also served as an
active member of the moot court committee in a few academic sessions. I have also acted as a dummy-
speaker for a dummy team in the 2nd Intra faculty moot court competition in 2017 at JMI. Subsequently,
I have always been a part of the National Seminars conducted by the Faculty in various capacities such
as a Rapporteur, Host, Runner and Hospitality. Therefore, these subsequent experiences propel me to

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Unprecedented hurdles and failures out of inexperience are touted to rise in the initial days of mooting,
and mine was howsoever a no different case, and which is to an extent a natural phenomenon to happen
with young students. Therefore, based on the problems and my personal experience in mooting from
initial days to the present day, I have a few glaring and viable proposals to make so as to tackle with
the roadblocks of mooting.
Here are the compelling reasons which make me to apply for Convener of the MCC: -
1. The Conveners and the Con-conveners must essentially take a minimum of 5-6 Moot Court
Classes/ Training Sessions for the First and Second Year Students every Semester. These sessions
should potentially enlighten the students with nuances and efficacies of Mooting wherein it should
be done specially to boost oratory and research skills of the students.
2. Carry out and continue with the boosting initiative of conducting INTRA faculty moot courts so
as to prepare and groom the students of first and second years to vouch for prestigious moots, both
national and international.
3. To bring about participation and awareness about the prestigious moots among students, inter
alia, Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 Moot Court Competitions as per the ranking of Mooting Premier
League (MPL). A list of moots in such hierarchy must be provided to the students, wherein the
MCA shall be entrusted with duty to keep a tap on such prestigious moots for participation.
4. Senior batches (3rd – 5th Year) must be motivated to vouch for Tier 1 & 2 Moot Courts.
5. Conduct and continue the legacy of Jamia National Moot Court Competition in the Criminal and
Constitutional Law.
The aforementioned points can be dealt meticulously with the support of other members of this
Committee, esteemed Professors and Dean of the Faculty. Therefore, as a Convener, I shall have a
viable role to play in this endeavour.
