Fig. 1 shows how, for a two-dimensional xH , the
tangent line from the center of the sphere given by
Euler’s predictor intersects the surface of the sphere,

homotopic path presents turning points as described
by Watson (2001), where an inappropriate step
increase could skip roots of the homotopic path.
