BACKGROUND
The world needs not only the younger generation who are committed to creating
global security and prosperity, but also the younger generation who can respect the
differences they encounter in making their respective contributions. It has been proved that
acting as a diplomat, discussing and conducting diplomacy in finding solutions to world
problems-activities undertaken in UN Model simulations-can help young people
understand the process of conflict resolution internationally. Model United Nations serves
as an educational simulation and academic competition that is popular for those interested
in learning more about United Nations and the art of diplomacy. It is estimated that more
than 400,000 students worldwide participate every year in MUN at all educational levels
from primary school to university. Many of today’s leaders in law, government, and arts
had participated in MUN as students.
Indonesia Model United Nations (Indonesia MUN) is the premier varsity level
Model United Nations of Indonesia. Organized each year by Universitas Indonesia,
Indonesia MUN provides a platform for delegates to engage with international matters in
a diplomatic matter. Indonesia MUN strives to expand network of its participants, as well
as deepen their speaking, negotiating, and legal drafting skills in order to improve their
community by learning beyond the boundaries of a classroom. Through its extensive
events, Indonesia MUN hopes to heighten the spirit of Model United Nations and improve
delegates as future leaders of the country. Above all, Indonesia MUN aims to implement
values of diplomacy, human rights, and justice within each of its participants by means of
a United Nations conference.
After eight years, IndonesiaMUN has brought changes in Indonesia by spreading
the values of diplomacy and the importance of international knowledge. Indonesia MUN
has successfully spread the spirit of diplomacy to thousands of national and international
students worldwide to countries such as the United States of America, Russian Federation,
Singapore, Malaysia, Nepal, and the Phillipines. IndonesiaMUN has also been instrumental
in increasing the involvement of Indonesian students in the UN simulation session saround
the world (According to BestDelegate.com, Indonesia is ranked 7th most active country in
Model United Nations). Indonesia MUN 2018 will continue to strive to achieve these

objectives by deploying more committees and increasing the capacity of participants to
improve the quality of debate and substance. This year, Indonesia MUN 2018 intend to
directly involve United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations, and experts in
preparing our substance.
