Earth Hour - Saturday 31st March, 8.30 - 9.30pm WWFs Earth Hour is a simple idea thats quickly turned into a global phenomenon. Hundreds of millions of people turning off their lights for one hour, on the same night, all across the planet. Its about appreciating the brilliant world we all share and how we need to protect it. Not just for an hour a year, but every day. We have encouraged our school community to take part, so why not join in as a family and show you care about our planet. Community Sport The St Bede's Community Sports team recently teamed up with the Gloucestershire FA to donate sports kit to the Bank Leaze Primary School Uganda exchange. The exchange saw 2 Bank Leaze members of staff travel to Uganda recently with a supply of sports kit to hand out to a local school. The picture shows the children all kitted out in their new kit and then just about to kick off in a match. Enrichment Week 10th 13th July 2012 Much of the arrangements for the Enrichment Week are now in place. As ever, when we offer such a varied programme of activities and trips, there is a cost involved. This year, recognising that many families may be feeling the effects of the credit crunch, we are heavily subsidising the cost, to hold it at 16. Enrichment week is a time when the formal curriculum is suspended and year 7, 8 and 9 pupils participate in a variety of experiences, developing knowledge and skills to support children in future learning. Full details will be given later in the year. If there are hardship issues in any family, please contact Mrs White, in confidence.
E-SAFETY TIP Be aware that most mobile phones now on sale in shops give access to the internet. If you do not allow your child a computer in their bedroom it may be worth considering asking for mobile phones to be left downstairs at night time. LAST BRAINTEASER ANSWER If you said first you are wrong. You arrive second. If you overtake the second person and take his place, you arrive second. WISE WORDS!
