Christian Dior is a French luxury goods company controlled and
chaired by businessman Bernard Arnault,who also

Founded in 1946 by the eponymous designer Christian Dior,
today the company designs and retails ready-to-wear, leather
goods, fashion accessories, footwear, jewelry, timepieces,
fragrance, make-up, and skincare products while also maintaining
its tradition as a creator of recognized
haute-couture.

While the Christian Dior label remains largely for women's


offerings, but they also operates the Dior Homme division
for men and the baby Dior label for childrenswear.

Products are sold throughout its portfolio of retail stores


worldwide, as well as through its online store via dior.com.

How he Started???
Christian Dior trained for the French
diplomatic service, but in the
financial crisis of the 1930s he began
illustrating fashions for a weekly
periodical.
In 1942 he joined the house of the
Parisian designer Lucien Lelong.

In 1947 he introduced his revolutionary


"New Look,"which featured small
shoulders, a natural waistline, and a
voluminous skirt, a drastic change from
the World War II look of padded
shoulders and short skirts.

The "New Look"


On 12 February 1947, Dior launched his first
fashion collection for Spring-Summer 1947. The
show of "90 models of his first collection on six
mannequins." was presented in the salons of the
company's headquarters at 30 Avenue Montaigne.
However, the new collection went down in fashion
history as the "New Look" after the editor-in-chief
of Harper's Bazaar Carmel Snow's exclamation,
"It's such a New Look!"

ACHIEVEMENTS
The New Look changed the shape of women's
clothing and lifted the French fashion industry out of
the doldrums.
For this feat a grateful French government awarded
him the Legion of Honor

market. Sidney Toledano, the President and CEO of
Christian Dior Couture, one of the worlds most

India still is one of the most promising new
markets for luxury brands such as Dior

Retail ambience is really good in


India now. Our store here is as good
as the one that we have in Avenue
Montaigne in Paris... Even if a high
street is not here high end malls can
fill that gap. It doesnt have to be a
luxury ghetto, but if the place offers
like-minded brands that will be the
best to have.

DIOR IN DELHI

A Christian Dior store in New Delhi. Multinationals have looked on the


Indian market as the final frontier in retail which is estimated at $450
billion a year, although it is still dominated by traditional and family-run
stores

The Dior store in Delhi will carry the trends and


styles in the ready-to-wear lines shown in Paris
(it will not carry couture).
There designs are not country-specific ,but of
course, they will make an adjustment to cater to
local tastes.
Indian clientele may prefer our lines to be more
colorful , and we will be sure to incorporate that

fashion skyline. Designer houses the world over are only just
realising that India is a valuable market and the Indian woman
& man is a valuable customer, with sophisticated tastes and a

DIOR & BOLLYWOOD :-AISHA


Kalyani Chawla, the vice-president (marketing &
communications) at Christian Dior Couture, informed that
the movie AISHA will use 60 Dior dresses and
accessories. These will be put on by the female lead
Sonam Kapoor and other cast members.
Aisha has become the first Bollywood film to have an
association with Dior to this degree.
Throughout the movie, Sonam was seen carrying a Lady
Dior purse and the male lead Abhay had put on Dior suits.

CONCLUSION
Christian Dior has engineered a remarkable
commercial breakthrough based on top quality,
highly creative products that appeal to a youthful,
refined clientele.
Christian Dior continues to be the domination of the
Fashion Industry.
