    Zeppelins

    The zeppelin was a product of


    German Engineering and was
    used by them as well. It was a flying vehicle with a cigar type
    shape. The zeppelins original use
    was to carry some passengers to
    one place to another but wasn't
    very useful. The greatest advancement was when the zeppelin turned into a weapon. They
    would be flown over the battlefield and had a birds eye view of
    the enemy where they would
    then drop bombs on them.

    POISON GAS

    Prior to WWI the use of poison gas was


    not used by anything nation during
    warfare. The French were the first
    group of people to use the gas in warfare. The gas was used to break stalemates between opposing sides in te
    war. The first gas was made out of
    Chlorine and would cause irritation of
    the skin. Then, mustard gas was used
    that was odorless but caused blisters
    inside and outside the body. As a result of the use of poison gas, Germans
    lost alliances with their neutral countries and were attacked by their ene-

    The machine gun was widely


    used between every power in
    the war. They caused mass destruction as well. The advancements made was the creation of
    light machine guns and heavy
    machine guns. The light guns
    were more mobile while heavy
    guns were stationary but much
    more powerful.

    Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and Russia all used Convoys.


    Convoys were essential during
    the war. They were groups of
    merchantmen or troopships
    traveling together with a naval
    escort. The modern convoys of
    the time had heavy use of aircraft for escorts.

    The U-Boat was used by the Germans. The most important characteristics of were surface speed,
    range, and maneuverability and
    the number of torpedoes it could
    carry. They could submerge for
    attack as well. Advancements in
    the U-Boat allowed them to travel
    much farther distances and came
    in sizes like midget subs to giant
    sea cows.

    Airplane

    Initially the Airplane was used as a


    n aircraft for photography. The
    French were the first to have a
    working, conscripting air force.
    However, the Germans one upped
    them again and created a plane
    with machine guns that could
    cause mass destruction on the
    battlefield. During World War I the
    airplane had become a devastating
    weapon as to just a recreational
    aircraft.
