This lesson plan covers a fifth grade Social Studies lesson. I chose to adapt this particular lesson plan
around students with emotional behavior disorder, more specifically those students that have difficulty
forming relationships with peers and/or teachers. Many of the activities that I chose to use within this
lesson plan have the students working in groups or as a class. I believe that allowing students to work
closely under the direct supervision of a teacher aides in the development of social skills. Completing
work as a class not only promotes social skills but it also helps with those students that may not perform
well academically. If they see how some tasks are done it may help in the understanding of future tasks
that are similar.
