Bonifacio
Ang Unang Pangulo
For more than an hour and a half, you get to give forth on the life of Bonifacio and the other
equally heroic and bold figures in Philippine history such as Melchora Aquino, Jose Rizal played
by Jericho Rosales and Gregoria de Jesus as Vina Morales, Ladislaw Diwa in the act of Ping
Medina, among others. As we all know, he is popular as the Ama ng Katipunan but aside from
that, he is also should be the first president of our country other than Emilio Aguinaldo who killed
him so that he could reign. The production design shape closely to the generation of the subject
and the film scorer gives the film an aural feel that conjoin two generations of Filipinos. I have
heard that this is ones first sampling of an Enzo Williams film and one must say that the director
has surpassed ones expectations. For one, the narration is good and it makes output rewarding
for both the cast and viewers. Everyone depicted a fairly well-defined portrait of Bonifacios
comrades to ones relief. Also, there is more resemblance of natural acting portrayal of the playactors. Their character and the way they interacts with the other heroes of the Katipunan gives
the viewers the ability to blend with the excellent supporting cast and staffs. On the whole, the
script is a cohesive lot and leaves out connected moments that often plague films dealing with
the past and theres great pleasure watching a humanized version of this and what he did for
the Filipinos. We can review that his fate and his brother is indeed a clear example of
revolutions devouring its own sons and it ends with the audience having a good idea as to who
are the real principals and villains of that revolution. A film like this is one of the saving graces of
the festival. It proves that history can do well with regular moviegoers with a well-packaged
festival entry. Needless to say, it is really deserving of its major awards.
