Dietetic Program Director University of Oklahoma Department of Nutritional Science PO Box 26901, AHB 3057 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73125-0901 Dear Professor dela Cruz: My name is Vu Vincent Nguyen and I am writing you in regards to my interest to the dietetic internship provided at the University of Oklahoma. I am currently a senior in the nutrition and dietetics program at the University of North Florida. I am anticipating graduating by May of 2015. After reading your program description, I am confident that my strong academic record, experience in dietetics and willingness to relocate for rotations makes me an ideal candidate for your program. I am interested in the program at the University of Oklahoma because of the location and an eight-month long program is appealing. The location is interesting to me because I have either lived on the east coast of the nation or visited the west coast. Ive never set foot in the mid-west. Relocating to a foreign area will be an exciting experience. I am a team player and a hard worker. My work experience has taught me to work together and communicate with co-workers to accomplish the task at hand and I will not give up until I do so. I feel my friendly demeanor allows me to effectively establish productive relationships with my peers. Currently working at Mayo Clinic has given me the opportunity to establish a foundation in clinical dietetics and display professional etiquette, these traits not a lot of undergrad students get a chance to experience. My work history has given me a lot of experience in food service and my Servsafe certification can illustrate I am capable of managing a food service establishment. I have experience in community dietetics with my 100 hours of volunteering at a WIC clinic, assisting the nutrition educators with anthropometric measurements for child and mother. Also at WIC I assisted with the monthly group follow ups and educated clients on essential nutritive information such as the importance of low sodium diets or the importance of adequate iron intake. I am confident that my personality and experiences acquired over the years will be practical traits that the University of Oklahoma will find commendable in a future intern. I look forward to discussing my potential as a potential candidate for your internship and how I can benefit your program. I can be reached at (407) 412-
8897 or by e-mail at N00860027@unf.edu. I have enclosed my resume for your review, and I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time. Sincerely,
