Finishing Up the
Program Year
This program year has certainly
ended strongly and left the senior
teens with the capability to be
leaders. We have learned about
many different people and activities
through service, fundraising, and
bonding activities. In January the
teens enjoyed ice skating at the
Chiller Easton. We participated in
skating with a former competitive
gure skater and ice hockey player.
We learned multiple skills and ended
it all with hot pizza and chilling drinks.
Theo White hosted this event and made it an enjoyable one!
In February the events included seeing the play, Porgy&Bess
in Cleveland which I hosted and our major fundraising event: a
bowling party to benet the Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation in memory of Anthony Jackson. Porgy&Bess was
a romantic musical with a predominantly African-American
cast. The teens had the opportunity to watch the musical and
then eat in Cleveland. The teens also had the opportunity to
raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
In March the teens elected new ofcers for the 2014-2015
program year. The new ofcers are: Mason
McIntyrePresident, Theo White-Vice President, Simone
Armour- Editor/Historian, Joshua Smith-Treasurer, and

" Teen conference was a lot more
fun than I thought it would be. It
was a learning experience on how
Jack and Jill works in terms of
regional ofces and other
leadership roles. Teen conference
is also what you make it meaning
if you put yourself out there you'll
get the same response back."

Theo on TLC
The teen conference was a lot of
fun indeed. I've met a lot of
outstanding and astonishing
people and very intelligent teens. I
learned that whatever action you
take is what brands you, so you
have to make smart decisions. It
was truly a great experience and it
really opened my eyes on a lot of
things.

Simone on TLC
Teen Leadership Conference was
an experience that allowed me to
both learn and grow while being
surrounded with my peers. I
enjoyed participating in activities
from community service to plenary
sessions. I urge all incoming teens
to go to Teen Leadership
Conference next year!

Princeton Ball-Recording Secretary. For community service
the teens went to the Mid-Ohio food bank to pack boxes with
nutritious food. This experience was hard labor but came with
a rewarding feeling of achievement because it helped Central
Ohios elderly afford their medication and food.

April, May, June
In April the teens went to the
chapter wide community service
event: March of Dimes walk to
raise money to support programs
that help mothers have thriving,
full-term pregnancies. We walked
all around Easton Town Centre
and after we enjoyed bouncy
houses and outside tents that had
games and food. We learned
about how much we are helping
the premature babies in our
community.

May was a very eventful month for
the senior teen group. We went
GoCarting and played in a batting
cage. The event was hosted by
Celina. This bonding activity was
really fun and we were able to
meet a few of the new teens
moving into the group as well. We
also engaged in two community
service events. The first one was
at the YWCA where we served
meals to the homeless. We were
filled with appreciation for what we
have. The other community
service event was located at the
Heinzerling Foundation where we
made crafts with the residents.
This was really enjoyable because
the teens learned about people
with severe handicaps and
communicated with them in a laid-
back environment.

In June Theo, Mason, Celina, and
Simone of the senior teens went
to The Teen Leadership
Conference in Wheaton Illinois.
We rode the charter bus to
Wheaton College with the
Cleveland Chapter and
participated in the conference
activities, which included plenary
sessions, workshops, dances, and
community service projects. The
teens described it as an amazing
experience and advise new teens
to definitely go next year.

Letter #om the Teen President:
Greetings senior teens I hope your summer has been great. First off I would like to welcome
all of the new senior teens. You are all in for a wonderful time. Just to give all of you a
highlight, this summer our chapter went to Wheaton Illinois to attend the Midwestern senior
teen conference. I can tell you from a rst experience that Celina Thomas, Simone Armour,
Theo White, and I all had a great time. All of us met new people, learned many things,
helped out through community service. Also we won the small skit competition. We are
going to have a terric time this upcoming year starting with our rst planning meeting this
August. Until then I leave you with this "From what we get, we can make a living; what we
give, however, makes a life."
