Halftone Dots

is the reprographic technique that
simulates continuous tone imagery
through the use of dots, varying either in
size, in shape or in spacing.
Halftone Dots
Dithers

Used in computer graphics to create the
illusion of color depth in images with
limiter color palette.

Dithers
CMYK, RGB and Spot Color

RGB Red, Green, Blue
CMYK Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (K)
Spot Color selection of individual inks that
will be mixed and matched by the printer.
Pixels and Bitmaps

Pixel is a physical point in a raster image or
the smallest, addressable element in a
display device.

Bitmap is a type of memory organization or
image file format used to store digital
images. (map of bits)
Pixel
Vectorized Graphics

- is the use of geometrical primitives such
as points, lines, curves and shapes or
polygons to represent images in
computer graphics.

- Vector implies more than a straight
line.
Bitmap Graphic Editors

-Adobe Photoshop
-Macromedia Fireworks
-Paint Shop Pro
Vector Graphic Editors

-Adobe Illustrator
-Corel Draw
-Macromedia Flash
It must be noted that no particular file format is
restricted to any kind of graphic. However, bitmaps
are commonly stored in .bmp, .jpg, .png &.tiff, while
vector graphics are usually associated with .ai, .fla,
.swf, .cdr.

Image output and Resolution

Resolution is the number of pixels in an image.
Resolution is defined as dots per inch (dpi) or by the
number of pixels in a rows and columns (ex: 640x480).

The higher the resolution, the better your image will
appear on screen or printout, but the larger the file size
will be.
