Woodson Art Museum to Receive $10,000 Challenge America Award from the National Endowment for the Arts

The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Challenge America Award of $10,000.

Who’s Got the Write?

Last week, I was invited to speak at my alma mater, the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD). At the end of one of the presentations, one of the professors asked, “Rachel, can you talk more about the importance of arts writing, why it’s necessary, and how you began writing?” As I started to form a response, I decided that this was one of the most important questions that could have been asked.

My goodness. My wife and I have been to many art museums - from the Louvre in Paris to the Milwaukee Art Museum - and, pound for pound, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum is absolutely wonderful. Our very first visit to this gem a couple of days ago brought a smile to me at every turn, from the beautifully-maintained outdoor garden and unique sculptures to the interesting exhibits inside a professionally-presented viewing space that covers three floors. Congratulations, Wausau, you have a winner!
