I really enjoyed the first series of Reacher and looked forward the the new series after waiting so long. After watching the first three episodes available I'm pretty disappointed and not sure whether I'll stick with it. In the first series Jack was a lone wolf, whereas in this he is part of a team which includes two women and another man. For one thing I don't really find the rest of the team very likeable at all, especially the two women. Serinda Swan is the worst and her eyebrows always distract me, although I managed to enjoy the series Breakout Kings despite her. The fact she is a love interest is also off-putting and unconvincing. The storyline isn't that gripping or interesting, although it is obviously based on one of the books. Apparently someone said this is the only story where he is part of a team, so perhaps if they'd chosen another book to film I'd have enjoyed it more. I will see if it improves, but I'm not holding my breath.
I will keep it short. The film started well, and became quite intriguing, but then it just finished. I don't expect films to wrap everything up in a nice neat bow, but so many films these days have no ending at all. Some you can guess what happens next, but others leave you with no clue. I think it is just down to sheer laziness. The writers of the book/film basically can't think of an ending so just cop out and leave it to the readers/viewers. Apparently my short review needs to be longer so I will just say I was obviously disappointed with the film and won't ever bother watching it again. Typically for films I don't rate much, the critics seem to think it's great.
Just watched this series over a couple of weeks and really quite enjoyed it for what it is. It's a bit like Scooby Doo really. Murders occur one by one and you are guessing who it could be. Don't take it seriously at all and it's a fun whodunnit. The setting of the island was good and added to the creepy atmosphere. It did keep you guessing and the ending was a surprise, whether you thought it plausible or not. Don't take it too seriously and it's enjoyable escapism. Apparently my review is too short so I'll have to continue! Acting abilities varied, but the leads were good and they all looked suitably terrified when necessary.
