The Simpsons: The Dad-Feelings Limited (2021)
Sweet and unique!!
I loved the side character backstory, the different style of animation, the emotional sweetness and depth, and all of the hilarious one liners!
I'm not one of those people who thinks the Simpsons has "gone downhill;" it may have gotten worse in some ways over the years (though I can't necessarily pinpoint how), but it's absolutely gotten better in others. The writing in particular continues to impress me.
It's also hard to get me to care about side characters in any show so well done to them for that. If the main family wasn't on it at all I almost certainly would have liked it less, so thank goodness they were!!
She Said (2022)
Not Perfect But Not Bad!
What I liked about this movie; a dramatized version of historical events is always helpful for me to learn and understand. The real looking actors was a good choice, similar to spotlight, and a good contrast to general Hollywood movies. The second two-thirds of the movie were much better in my opinion, as the story built and conversations got more interesting!
What I didn't love; the first third of the film was clunky, with a ton of political or social justice terms shoehorned in a biased and heavy-handed manner. Some actors were not very talented or believable (at least in this film), and some of the plot points (such as the post partum depression or career moms) didn't feel natural to me.
All in all I'm glad I saw it, but I wouldn't have necessarily paid to see it theaters had I known what it was like ahead of time.
Human Resources (2022)
Did Not Enjoy
Filled with unnecessary profanity, it feels like they're trying to use it to make the show funny instead of actually being funny.
Too bad because the concept was excellent, I'd try more episodes if they fix the issue.
House M.D.: Small Sacrifices (2010)
Not One of my Favourites
Makes a mockery of religion which makes for bleak and uninteresting television.
But the real problem with this episode is Wilson and Sam. The break up was ridiculous, came out or nowhere, could have been saved with a little more communication, and adds to the 10000000 breakups the show contains. I want to see some healthy and lasting relationships too, it's boring when you just know they're all going to end.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019)
Great Movie!
I think the perspective is unique and the emotional story is very powerful!
My only real complaint is the graphic sexual scenes, I was extremely uncomfortable with those and didn't find them necessary, especially since most depictions of Bundy's violence was left out of the film which I appreciated.
Soupçons (2004)
So horribly biased...
I don't know how this could be allowed to be released as a documentary. Maybe if they had out some disclaimers at the beginning about Mr. Peterson's relationship with the editor, the facts of the case that were left out, and the fact that the defence funded the film, then it would have been more trustworthy.
As it stands it should have been marketed as a personal story, not a crime documentary.
God's Not Dead: We the People (2021)
Honestly...
One of the worst movies I've ever seen. The acting was not convincing, the plot was contrived and unrealistic, background music behind each scene telling you how to feel was irritating, and the "look how progressive we are" pastor's rants are a slap in the face to the LGBT people who have been hurt (perhaps more than any other group) by conservative Christians like the ones in this film.
The third movie was awesome. I'm a Christian and I think love, empathy, and nuance are sorely lacking in these types of movies.
Old Fashioned (2014)
Enjoyed it!
Not always the greatest acting or chemistry in my opinion, but a beautiful sweet movie with a very important message!
