Cinderella (2015)
One of my favorites
This one has to be my favorite version of this beloved old tale. The music is absolutely beautiful, and so is the scenery. Whoever was in charge of the casting did an amazing job. Cinderella was as beautiful and kind as the story that we imagine as a child.
I don't like the actress that played the stepmother, but she did an amazing job - I hated her as much as the original one. But she did have one flaw that drove me crazy, she overacted in several scenes while she exaggeratedly contorted her body sideways to give herself a snobbish air.
All in all, I really enjoyed this one. I have watched it a couple of times and I know that I'll watch it again.
The Guardian (2001)
Way too depressing
I decided to give this one a try because I just finished watching the Mentalist and I enjoyed this actor's performance in that series. Had I watched The Guardian first, I would not have given the Mentalist a second thought.
The main actor had no personality, he treats everyone with disdain, and he continues to make stupid decisions. One of the worse ones being the woman he falls in love with. She is a self centered obnoxious woman who has an attitude of "my way or the highway". While she's married, she wanted Nick's attention. Then when she gets pregnant, she's the only one calling the shots. She wants Nick in her life, but just to treat him like garbage.
Really, I did not like neither of the two main actors in this one.
Watching this series - all I can think was, "Gosh, I hope the world really isn't like they portray it in this series". It was a complete downer.
When a series in good, I'll watch it again years down the road. Not this one.
Monk (2002)
Amazing Show
I hope that whoever wrote this series received several rewards - it was awesome! I watched it like seven years ago and remember having fond memories so I decided to try it again. And it DID NOT disappoint!
Monk suffers from severe OCD and other problems. But he has no qualms about getting messy when it really matters. Also, he sees things that other people don't notice, and that's what makes him perfect for the job.
It had a lot of interesting and unique episodes that made me wonder "how'd they come up with that idea?!?" And they delivered it with perfection and great humor. It's rare that I sit down alone and laugh out loud, but that's exactly what happened with this show.
It's one that I'm definitely keeping in the back pocket for another run in years to come.
Oh, and they gave it the perfect ending! You can see it winding down in the last season. Great show!
The Mentalist (2008)
Hooked from Season One
This is what entertainment should be about, not about shoving that PC garbage down our throats.
This show is about a man who lost his wife and daughter to a psycho killer who then taunts him for years. As he's pursuing the killer, he develops an interesting relationship with the FBI - helping them solve cases with his special gift of "reading" people. During his time with the FBI, he develops a beautiful friendship with one of their agents while solving cases.
The acting and the story line drove me in completely. Kudos to whoever wrote it and to whoever directed it. They did a great job!
One of my favorite things about this series is that they started the romance between the two main actors close to the end, but they ran it for a fair amount of time until that perfect ending.
Rarely have I watched a show like this one that kept me entertained from the beginning to the end... and what an end.
Thanks to whoever wrote this, I really enjoyed it.
Saving Hope (2012)
Should have named it the life of Alex
Why can't hollywood just get it? The first season was great! It had so much promise. Can't writers just write a good story? Do they have to muddle it up like they did with this one?
A doctor going into a coma and waking up with the ability to see and help the dead. This was an original concept! But no... they had to add in all the drama and all the quirks that make us hate it in the end. This had so much potential to run for more seasons, but they did what they do best - they became preachy.
To top it off, they gave it the worst ending ever. So much hope, so much drama... and then they go ahead and finish it like that. I have never fast forwarded an ending - until I saw where this one was headed. Ugh.
The Little Mermaid (2023)
Pretty good!
I actually enjoyed this one and recommended it to someone who didn't want to watch it because of all the negative comments out there. Sincerely, I watched it just to form my own opinion... not expecting much - but I was pleasantly surprised!
I'm not a person to sit down and judge CGI's like some have done in the comments section. I'm just sitting down to be entertained, and I feel like they did a good job at that.
My favorite part was the scene where all the sisters (?) were sitting down under the sea - there was a nice variety of people. I think that the original one could have used a bit of that.
Now, what I really did not like was the main character. For some reason, she just didn't work for me. But all in all, I enjoyed it.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Boring
This wasn't just bad, it was embarrassingly bad. It was boringly bad. What is going on with Disney? There seemed to be no story line or any substance whatsoever. Marvel used to be fun, now they're just boring and dumb. The attempts at jokes was as bad as the movie. Needless to say, I had to fast forward this one several times to be able to get past some scenes. And lo and behold, that ending - what a shocker (not).
Disney needs to get back to basics. Marvel movies are about super heroes, not mamsy pamsy characters that just make one mistake after another.
This one was just another huge disappointment.
Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Not bad
First of all, I couldn't stand either of the two main entertainers. The blonde one made me squirm every time she opened her squeaky yap to yell. That was VERY annoying. The the other one, the one who played Snow White... What were they thinking? She does not know how to act. She has one look on her face and that didn't change throughout the entire film. No emotion or anything that made her believable.
I feel that both of them have a tendency to overact. However, in some scenes it did work out with the evil queen. But Snow White, again... Why would they use her?!? By the time she finally fell into that trance, I had to smack myself to wake up.
With this said, I feel that the huntsman did an amazing job. When he thought that she had died, his performance really touched me. But mister fish lips, didn't convince me at all.
All in all, very entertaining.
Blindspot (2015)
What a pity...
This was so good and it had so much promise. The storylines kept you on your feet.
BUT when season 3 ended, that's when the crap started coming in. In who's mind do you see a top government agency ceding its control to a terrorist?!?
Life can be pretty hard in real time, so when we sit down to be entertained, we're looking for good guys winning. That is not the case with this series. The good guys lose over and over again.
And that ending! Why would they ruin it so badly with just two minutes to go? Were they bored? That was totally unnecessary.
Even thought they dragged it out with the bad guy on top for way too long, I would have given it one or two extra stars had they not included those final two minutes. That just ruined it for me.
Scorpion (2014)
What in the world?
Uhm... wow.
I was hooked on this one from the first episode. It's like a "G" rated version of 24. A lot of action, a lot of entertaining story lines, and a lot of witty conversations.
With that said, I can't believe what they did with that final episode! When I sit down to watch something I want to be entertained, in a GOOD way. And they accomplished that with this series. The main character can be a jerk sometimes, but I was willing to overlook that.
BUT, I have NEVER watched a TV show that can bring down an ENTIRE series with such a bad ending... until I watched Scorpion.
Had they finished at the beginning of season four, I would have rated it and 8 or a 9. But this ending just messed it up so badly for me that I'm rating it a 3. Shame on whoever decided to finish it like that.
Elementary (2012)
Loved it
I absolutely enjoyed this one. Whoever directed it did a great job! Both main characters worked very well together, and so did the supporting cast. Casting Watson as a woman was so unexpected, but it worked out beautifully. Both of them had an honest love for each other, not passionate, but a brotherly kind of love, and it showed in how concerned they acted towards each other. The rest of the cast were all very likeable, and Sherlock's father! Who would have thought of casting someone so perfect! They even had the same hairdo and personality.
I am sure that I will be watching this one again down the road.
My favorite line was that last line: "As long as we're together, who cares?"
Very entertaining!
Psych (2006)
Don't expect a normal crime show
This is definitely NOT your every day crime show, it leans more towards slapstick comedy, which I hate. But... I really enjoyed this one.
The first season a bit too much for me. That main character almost made me turn off the TV sometimes, but Gus. Gus and the rest of the crew are the ones that kept me watching. As the characters developed, I started enjoying everything about it.
The last season lost it's way for many of the episode, but then the final episode brought it all back together.
I would definitely give it a try. There are lots of parts that made me literally laugh out loud, my favorite being the way those two goofballs always screamed like little girls when they got scared.
They gave it a proper ending and I always appreciate that. You can kind of see it building in the final season.
Pretty good in my opinion.
Veronica Mars (2004)
Mixed emotions over this one
Seasons 1-3 were a type of Nancy Drew type of mystery. I really enjoyed these, but was upset that they ended season 3 with a cliffhanger, but... they kinda fixed it when the movie came out.
Now, with that said, season 4 is a completely different story. It's dark and gross. The killings are way too violent, and Veronica - I don't even know where to start. Her character turned into a trashy spoiled brat, and the conversations are just plain stupid. It seems like they lost their way and were never able to come back.
If you want to enjoy a Nancy Drew kind of mystery, then stick with the first three seasons and then the movie, but avoid season 4. Had I known that it was 12 years later, I would have never started to watch it. I wanted to keep going until she got married to Logan, but it's just too nasty. And then I read that they kill off Logan?!? The ONLY one who managed to turn his life around?
Nope, season 4 is definitely not worth it.
Supergirl (2015)
Don't waste your time
This was so bad! If you decide to venture into this one, don't expect it to be about Supergirl and her heroics. This is a poorly written show where someone came up with the idea of pushing their ideologies and nothing else. And that's a pity, because shows like these have SO much potential! Sadly, the writers and directors missed out on some great opportunities. They should have called it the "Life of Alex Danvers", or "Let's see how much political correctness we can push".
I decided to give it a chance, but it just kept on getting worse. There's enough bad news in the world that when I sit down to watch a program, I expect to be entertained, not to go through an attempt to get "programmed".
What a shame...
Grimm (2011)
Not my type of show, but...
This show was totally gross, if you don't like "ugly" characters, then this one isn't for you. I was pleasantly surprised with the story line and the acting. Everyone was likeable - except Juliette.
I loved the characters of Monroe and Rosalee, to me, they were the real heroes. And I also liked that it wasn't your regular sex-sex-sex crap that hollywood insists on shoving down out throats. It seemed to lose me at some parts but the end kinda tied it all together.
A Picture Perfect Wedding (2021)
Enjoyable
The type of movie that I enjoy. Sweet, and not much drama, just enough to keep it interesting. No back stabbing, no second guessing, just a clean and family friendly film. Enjoyed it a lot.
Being Erica (2009)
Self-Centered Spoiled Brat
What a stupid show. It should have been rated "R" for all the nudity. I really don't care to see men's butts, women walking around naked covering their breasts with their hands, or people continually having sex-sex-sex. When is hollywood going to get it? It was such an awesome concept, but they had to go and ruin it. And that main actress? How can you like a show where the main person is a self-righteous self-centered jerk? And the two main women in the show caving in to the whims of the men?!? Erica had to ride her BF's bike, but he didn't allow her to encourage him to become a better person? And the blonde girl had to learn to love a dog and do what the guy who betrayed her told her to do? The only thing that I liked was that they gave it a proper ending, but aside from that, I wish I would have never wasted my time.
Our Dream Wedding (2021)
Heartwarming
Pretty good fantasy movie about a girl who turns down a wedding proposal and then gets a chance to see what her future could have been when she puts on a magic veil. I really enjoyed this movie, right up my alley.
Beautiful Creatures (2013)
Bad, bad, bad!
Just another hollywood piece of garbage where they make those who call on the name of Christ look like haters and crazed people, while those on the side of evil are the good ones who love and sacrifice. Really hollywood?!? That's getting old... What a piece of junk.
Runaway Christmas Bride (2017)
Ugh...
This is the type of movies that I love to watch, but wow... bad directing, storyline didn't make any sense, and so-so acting. Who leaves their wedding and falls in love within a couple of days?!? It was 100% cheesy and predictable, which I'm okay with, but not when it is delivered like this.
A Royal Christmas Ball (2017)
Not perfect but entertained
Not the best acting, pretty cheesy and predictable, but these are the type of movies that I enjoy. I don't follow actors so I have no clue who Tara Reid is, who so many are criticizing. But if you're like me, then give it a chance and decide for yourself.
Accidental Engagement (2016)
Good family film
I love movies like this where they use "real" people, not your plasticky stretched hollywood type actors. I also appreciated that there were no "boobs-in-your-face" scenes, as I think that's unnecessary to make a good film and very degrading to women. Actors should use their talent to act, not their bodies. Very homey, very clean, and pretty entertaining.
Bewitched (2005)
Not bad
I don't like either of the main actors, but it entertained, which is what movies are supposed to do. The dad was pretty good, and the aunt also, but didn't like the actor who played Endora either.
The New World (2005)
Too slow, too boring
I watched until 45 mins in then after I was able to wake up out of the deep stupor this piece of junk caused, I fast forwarded it several times until the end. Not worth it... It was slow and extremely boring. The acting was bad, bad, bad and the music was choppy, did not go well with several scenes.
DC Cupcakes (2010)
Too much drama
I couldn't deal with the drama, especially from the blonde sister. She's just rude and too disrespectful, always trying to pat herself on the back. Neither of them know how to take charge and fix problems, they just whine and make things worse. And the cook? Ugh...
