Mr Inbetween (2018)
Just a 10/10 Banger!! Love the lowkey vibe.
I haven't been ever blown out by a show more than this. It's constantly good from start to the end. Each season is a banger. Constantly good from start to the end. Each episode is more or less 25 mins. Which are totally binge able. You should immediately put on this show and watch this. There's a reason this show has a 8.7 rating here and a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
I love the subtle and lowkey vibe in this show.
Story is very simple and in a bit day-to-day style. Main guy is Raymond who is a Hitman, Bouncer, a brother, a ex-husband, a father and a boyfriend. There have been some dark episodes, after watching them I had to hold and take a time to consume what I have seen.
Don't get me wrong, I might have little overrated this show, but it's intentional. It's like my favorite kind of show. So I need this show to be more popular. So we can get more shows like this. Because this is real good stuff.
Lost (2004)
yeah it's still peak!
Even after 20 years this show still holds up. Best thing about LOST is that it gets better with each seasons.
The show is a great mix-up of mystery, science fiction, drama, action and humor.
For first-timers starting might not live up to the hype, if we are talking about watching it first time in this time and age. But u gotta imagine this show was made in 2000s, you would have to watch what was being made at that time to appreciate the greatness of LOST. Just get past the first two seasons and it only gets better from that point on.
Season 3, 4, and 5 are being the peak in television I've ever seen. They are just timeless. Could watch it in any life.
"See you in another life brotha"
Dexter (2006)
S01 was Mid, S02 was Good!
Season 1 was terrible for me, honestly, I was surprised 1st season of this show would have disappointed me this much. The execution was poor. Whole storyline started to get on my nerve. It was super predictable and Cringy to the point. Some characters were annoying and irritating, the most was Debra. I could not bear her actions she was just not pleasant. The only few characters who kept my interest was Doakes, Angle and lastly Brian who was the most favorite thing of this season.
Season 2 started off good, rare achievement to get a season to stand back up after a bummer. Obnoxious characters were improved, it started to feel less annoying and more practical. The storyline gotten more interesting. And I was engaged into the show.
Dexter: Shrink Wrap (2006)
So bad, So far!
So the ending was supposed to be the biggest reveal in the history of tv huh? I already guessed actual killer as soon as he appeared on the screen as a Doctor maybe in episode 5. Further my guess was confirmed when they mentions that he makes the prosthetic limbs and he studied human body. Like tf who couldn't tell it? I seriously doubt that the fanbase of this show have actual brains.
Secondly, they show that Dexter's sister didn't feel the love and special connection with anyone else before, like she's feeling with the Doctor (actual killer).
That makes me think of my another guess that the Doctor ( the killer) is also the brother of Dexter, because that way it only makes sense. It explains the obsession they have with eachother. Also Dexter's sister might be sensing that special connection with the Doctor because of Dexter, (her brother, the only closest relative alive). That would make both of the killers also the brothers. One kills good other kills bad. At least that would be the next move of a lowly class writer.
Also, Rita's husband Paul's character isn't written well. Like guy's been out of jail, and he sees Dexter f-king his wife and he's cool with it. Not only cool he's been acting like a unreal amount of cowardly beta cuk. Did he really went to jail and used to abuse his wife?
Even as a normal person. Would you be cool if your wife's boyfriend stops you from meeting your own kids and doesn't let you into the house, the house that you own?
All I'm saying that this show isn't that great people say it is. Not even good. It's full of expected surprises, and bulsiht writing. I'm really not enjoying.
I'll be expecting spam downvotes from 2 iq fans of this show.
Dexter: Return to Sender (2006)
Common sense isn't the greatest strength of this show.!
This episode doesn't make any sense at all. The fake tension this episode tried to make, do we really think that Dexter "the main character's" gonna get caught before the season ends?. Also, the reveal of Cuban kid's Jesus sketch was sure comical but it doesn't make any sense and why is everyone is so SHOCKED looking at the sketch before it was revealed that the Dexter was not in that sketch. Like I said it's a miserable attempt to force suspense.
I get that all of this wasn't considered a problem, in the time frame it was made. People infact used to love these cliches. But fans of this show shouldn't sell this as a quality show in the present time. Let alone calling it GOAT. I agree there are some good aspects of this show, others had already mentioned them. But I'm here to RANTT!!
IMDB should reassess the show's total average rating to prevent misleading. Currently it's 8.7 out 10 like really?
What's even more interesting is, this episode alone have a total of 9 reviews out of 7k people who rated this episode. Which indicates that either the ratings are fake or they are old....
Nevertheless, 8.9 isn't justified for this episode in any shape or form.
Blue Eye Samurai (2023)
My Kids will be seeing Movies Based on this!
If you're lurking here that means you either have or haven't seen this show. If you haven't then, stop reading and start watching this show immediately.
Adult animation relatively remains an unexplored niche that deserves more attention. I can't believe people still think that animations are only for children; For those individuals, this show serves as an excellent starting point. I dare to watch this BiG Guy!!
As of my experience, I didn't know what to expect at first, but after finishing the first episode I was hooked right away. This show kept getting better with each episode. A rare achievement for any show. If we look past fair amount of little hiccups here and there that every show has, (no show has been perfect). We know this show is easily among the top flicks out there.
Good thing is, it's renewed for the 2nd season. So big thanks to Netflix for finally making a normal move after producing a banger, like an actual F--ing business.
Personally, I believe the creators should take all the time they need to make the next season, I don't want them to mess this good thing going. Most shows do this mistake. I just can't bear the same happening to this.
So, keep the quality high. OK? Netflip!?
Blue Eye Samurai: The Tale of the Ronin and the Bride (2023)
Relentless. No bulsh t. Peak. Instant classic.
This is some top tier stuff. Every new piece of media should take notes from this show.
As of this episode. The idea of showing two different tales, (tale of the Ronin and the tale of Mizu), dividing the episode into three separate segments, with the third segment representing Mizu's present, leading each of them to their ultimate climaxes, sets a new standard for storytelling excellence. Not to mention, leaving the viewers guessing how both stories relates to each other.
I honestly watch fair amount of cinema and tv but never ever came across to something truly as genius as this. This episode is the epitome of media. It at least made me to write a review on about it- on for God sake IM Db. (TT)
Scavengers Reign (2023)
Immersive Sci-fi Brilliance!
This show captivates you from the start. Its storytelling and world-building are one-of-a-kind.
The world they have created in this is uncanny, beautiful, scary, and odd. Each element intertwines seamlessly, drawing viewers attention deeply into its psychedelic experience.
This show has a remarkable ability to immerse you in the alien world it presents. It really puts you into the character's mindset, letting you experience the journey along with them.
More people needs to see this, especially for the fans of sci-fi, this show is a must-see. It's truly thought-provoking, mesmerizing, and utterly unique.
The pros of this show heavily outweighs its drawbacks. I can easily overlook some minor flaws due to the exceptional quality of the experience it has provided.
Best show of the 2023 along-side Blue eye samurai, which is also another phenomenal show.
Tokyo Vice (2022)
Underseen show which deserves more recognition.
Ok, this might not be considered as a perfect show but it definitely deserves more attention. At least for the regular watcher, who doesn't really give a f about the little plot flaws or the predictability of the story. And watching it only for the entertainment.
This could also be a fun for the people who are fascinated by the Japanese culture. And because of the story being in Tokyo, this show is mostly in Japanese language means you'll need subtitles for that.
The actors of the Sato and Katagiri characters, also did a excellent job to make those characters likeable. Most character are likeable in this show, except the main character portraying a silly american.
If you hadn't watched it, you should give the 1st episode a try. For me it started off good, dropped in through the middle, and picked up a little in the end.
Yellowstone (2018)
Hit-or-miss kind of show
Yellowstone, despite being visually stunning, sometimes feels too much like a soap opera. The plotlines feels contrived, relying too heavily on melodrama and shock value rather than authentic storytelling.
Even this show is a bit cheesy, there are some great performances and great dialogues. It also manages to offer some likeable characters that contribute to its overall appeal, making it a engaging watch.
To sum it like this, if you are into prime time soaps then this show is a masterpiece for you.
If that's not your thing, you can skip this one.
If you don't know whether it's your thing or not then you can give it a try.
Mindhunter (2017)
Revisiting Netflix's Unfinished Gem
Only quality thing present on Netflix, can't believe they didn't continued it.
It's sort of Netflix's version of True detective.
But in this case the story feels unfinished, there's too much teasers for next season in season 2.
Bit disappointing aspect of Season 2 is that in midway it loses focus from the main plot and opens multiple new subplots, which includes unnecessary tangents like Agent Tench's family drama and Dr. Carr's love life. Meanwhile, the main plot of BTK killer switches by the Atlanta killer plot leaving BTK unfinished. Which makes it more necessary to desire the next season.
Nevertheless, Season 1 rocked with Kemper's presence. Not major downside of season 1. It has always been a enjoyable experience.
Mr. Robot (2015)
Enigmatic Oddessy
One of the best shows. Complex. Smart. Cool.
Only downside is sometimes this show can feel drag.
Elliot, a brilliant but highly unstable young cyber-security engineer and vigilante hacker, becomes a key figure in a complex game of global dominance when he and his shadowy allies try to take down the corrupt corporation he works for.
Elliot's internal struggles surrounding his upbringing and personal life intertwine with his present external challenges as part of fsociety. Being very introverted, Elliot fails to express emotions and determine for himself what is real and what is not, a question that is also left somewhat ambiguous to the viewer. In particular Elliot struggles to remember important facts about his close relatives.
Barry (2018)
Unique in its nature.
Everything about the show is perfect. In its every episode ending it lets viewers with no words, thats what happened when I finished season 3, still I havent got words to say. Just wanna say this is the most greatest shid I ever seen. It was dark, funny, & brilliant! Hader is a standout as Barry. The range he shows is phenomenal.
This show has got all emotions covered - drama, thrill, romance etc. All actors play their respective part very well and writing with direction is amazing.
I loved every season of this show but season 3 is different from all it is just enchantingly good. They really explore the darkside of the show and many of its leading characters. I wanted to root for all of them, but it became really hard because of everything they have done. By the end I felt distraught and can't wait to see what happens next.
Better Call Saul (2015)
End of an epic era.
Better call saul is the kinda show youd get totally invested into. Sometimes it gets peak mysterious and thrilling which makes the audience to look for clues.
Lotta people be talking about BB in BCS review which I think is not justice for this show. This show is different from BB. It is simple, delicate and unique from its kind. Dont expect any bang bang in the finales and stupid cliffhangers in every episode's ending.
People criticizing about last three episode of season 6. Like, I know you are used to with funky stuff and cant help yourself. But in my opinion it was the most beautiful way to end this masterpiece.
Jujutsu Kaisen (2020)
Fun 'n exciting!
A fun and entertaining show. The animation is gorgeous.. You just need to watch episode 1 to get pumped up over this. It has so many great, loveable and fun characters with a very interesting story.
Although there's a lot of predictable elements and cliché in the overall story design, but the form is awesome.
MAPPA studio has done a great job putting this story into motion.
Overall this anime does have some flaws that could ignored for the sake of its fun.
The Boys: The Instant White-Hot Wild (2022)
Writers went high!
Imagine when you build up so much and ruin it at the end. Yeah that's what happened with season, it was good till ep 6 but I don't know what the writers were thinking about it's ending, they just messed up the whole thing.
It was all good until they ruined it.
Vikram (2022)
I'm amazed with this movie
After a long time, I saw a really good flick. It's the best south Indian stuff I've seen till now. Props to the director that he brought us this masterpiece.
This movie comes with a long runtime, but it is worth it, believe me. It presents us a engaging story and it is full of good action scenes with great chroegraphy.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Great
Definitely lives up to the hype and is exactly what a Star Wars series should be! Filmed incredibly well, exhilarating to watch everything play out, deserving of awards, and the characters are magnificent! I almost could've watched sooner but glad I finally got around to it now. All good stuff and I hope they can keep it up.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Could've been better!!
I had lots expectations from this one but it didn't delivered much, this movie could have done better.
The most notable thing about the film is how many opportunities it squanders with its many supporting characters introduced and then never really getting utilised in the story (except for one). It teases endless narrative possibilities courtesy of the last Spider-Man movie doing so with its lead, but Doctor Strange 2 teases fan service only to deliver shortcomings instead of going all the way with its promise of 'madness' in the title. The good stuff is there; it just doesn't have enough story-breathing-room in the film.
In conclusion, this movie might not be what you think is going to be, so manage your expectations. The acting is great, the direction and Sam Raimi's touch are great and so is the cinematography, the music is good but disappointingly there is little to no use of Doctor Strange's iconic theme, the villain is good, the visuals are great but it needed more visuals and reality-bending from the first one, the horror aspect is fine and gives a fresh look to the MCU, but it's ultimately rushed, the pacing needed some work and needed extra time.
Drive (2011)
Simplistic neo-noir!
Drive' is a captivating mix of contemporary and retro aesthetics. A stylish and taut thriller that keeps the audience entertained from start to finish with breathtaking sequences, brutal violence and stunning cinematography.
The story is simplistic, the hero is a getaway driver by night and a stunt driver by day. Through no fault of his own he gets caught up in a scam involving some deeply unpleasant gangsters, and it all kicks off from there.
Overall the movie is good, and I enjoyed it.
Yellowjackets (2021)
It promised alot but delivered nothing.
So this series has its own pros and cons. Let's about the pilot ep first, I would say it is one of the best ones. When I decided to give it a try, I was hooked and couldn't wait to see more, but I was busy. So I postponed it. After a month I came back to it and watched it all over again and finished it to the end.
This show is full of surprises, but it didn't surprised me as much.
Subplots, character developments and cinematography are the highlights of this show.
This show is a mixture of humour mystery and horror. Talking about the mystery I felt like, it becomes less effective as the story progress, but that's fine because it kept hooked.
The one thing which bothered me alot is they drag the story too much, with unnecessary filler subplots. This is one of those show seasons that feels like its just setup for the next season.
Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019)
Everything is great until season 3 kicks in!!
So I just finished the third season, and I have pretty mixed feelings about it. So the season 1 was awesome and the mugen arc was phenomenal, then with that expectations I watched this season. This season sets things up good and I liked it. But there were things which gets over sometimes, like the flashbacks scenes which gets annoying when you are focused in a sequence.
Because of that the show felt quite stretched out, like they could just cover it in just 6 or 7 eps.
There is another thing which annoyed me that some characters overreacts on simple things for no reason.
Anyway, the one thing I do appreciate is the animation this season offer you top-notch action sequences and the world building.
Overall, this was my opinion and I know lot of people would disagree with me, which is ok.
Interstellar (2014)
Modern classic!!
A lot has been said and written about Interstellar. It's just amazing, what Nolan has put on screen here. It's not only the visual experience, it's the story ride you take with it.
I just rewatched it and I'm not gonna say much about it, because I can't explain its brilliance in words. Whole movie is a emotional ride, it cheers me every time I watch it.
The music fueled every important scene. It elucidated those emotional scenes, particularly ones featuring Cooper and his daughter, in a way that no words or visual ques possibly could.
The whole movie is a real masterpiece.
Rogue One (2016)
Best Star War's spinoff!!
Rogue One: A Star Wars story is Star Wars at its best because of many things, there's plenty of tension and suspension and the war genre is a big reason of it, the franchise was built on war and this film stays true to the war aspect and the director and his crew made a superb Star Wars film. It gives depth to A New Hope, but also to the whole rebellion and years fought, and because both the dark and heroic parts of the Alliance & Rebels are explored. Moreover, this is a movie worth seeing for its own catchy plot, full of revenge, family and quest for redemption.
It's the proof that you can be original, you can be different, even break with established SW conventions (like the absence of the opening crawl), and still retain the REAL spirit of Star Wars.
Enemy (2013)
Interesting!
Since the storyline is not easy to follow, no questions were answered and its very symbolic, I understand not everyone liking it. But I loved it! Man
It's so interesting following the story of someone with an inner conflict and needs he tries so hard to surpress. Worth a watch!
