Four Christmases (2008)
What a great real life Christmas themed movie...
Can't understand negative reviews....Not sure what people want these days....This movie had it all....Love, family dynamics, jealousy, pregnancy, hardship.......> AND shows very talented actors and actresses at the end of their career and those just beginning having no idea they would get their own very successful sitcom.
What's NOT to like about this movie?
Perfect real life Christmas movie.
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
Decent......I enjoyed it
Totally don't get the problem with doing a movie about people with money actually being about people with money. Quite silly actually. Every nation on the planet regardless of political type or history has had and will always have a wealthy class. Very enjoyable flick with great acting, sensible well placed dialog, inherited empathy and lessons learned about respect for the commoner, loyalty and looking beyond excess.
Halloween (1978)
Simply the best Horror Movie ever made...
When reviewing, thinking about or rating all horror movies everything starts from Halloween and goes down from there. For me Halloween is horror movie perfection at its finest. To this day, even after 40 years, just seeing an advertisement or promotion for Halloween with Michael Myers face automatically sends that eerie tune playing in my head and Jamie Lee looking out the window. A must see for any horror movie fan.
The Bobby and Damaris Show (2017)
Damaris is great......And Bobby's not bad either.
Damaris is my favorite Food Network personality and would really love it if her previous show was still running. Having said that the combination with Bobby is excellent as well.
American Honey (2016)
Could have been so much better
Both the critics and supporters of this movie have valid points.
The Good > There's definitely an artistic element to the script which is played out quite nicely for a while. Much too long? - yes - But the statement was there. Secondly, the cast does an excellent job selling it with well received acting. Several individually nice performances throughout the movie save it from being a waste for me.
The Bad > The length is completely and utterly unnecessary. There is so much repeating of the same concepts and dialogs that an hour could have cut without any affect on outcome or presentation. Way too many scenes were deja vu.
The Awful > Worst music selection humanly possible save a couple songs. I mean seriously.....if we're stuck watching repetitive scenes of youth listening and singing along with music while riding down the highway in a van at least choose some real music. Editing out 1/2 of those monotonous scenes would have cranked out a couple more stars from this viewer. Good Luck with this one. For what it's worth, I can say I don't regret watching it.
Bad Samaritan (2018)
Don't make it complicated
The movie at it's basis is displayed and grounded on a simple truth.......Sometimes good intentions go bad...Even if projected in a distorted view of what is right....It still works....Welcome to almost everyone.....Few and far between had the absolute perfect life in every respect.
So in the end a little wrong in the overall scope of life can make a big right..
Truth or Dare (2018)
Very interesting concept and story
Agree with the last review I read......Really Good....I do understand that horror or psychological entries reside in hades on movie review sites....That's ok.... But I really thought this was a good movie worth watching.....The super low reviews are completely unsubstantiated.
Gone Are the Days (2018)
Dust and Bones
First.....The obvious.....It's a slow moving flick....First point is to go beyond that....This movie does an excellent job of establishing the challenge and more abstract reality for all of us.....At some point in the very near future the best of our days are behind us....Every single human being must face this....
50 First Dates (2004)
Simple message for life.
Keep it simple Stup**...That's the point here. It's about our relationships with family and friends that really matter. Adam working a character who is foot loose and fancy free bamboozling women for a good time and moving on...Typical singular episode for both menfolk and womenfolk alike....especially in 2018.....Adam meets Drew, has a revelation, and everything changes for the better with a lesson learned......Good happy time movie.
Idiocracy (2006)
One of the best ever.....Before PC was regulated by fake media.
Really hard to believe there's anyone on the planet who doesn't get this movie......Deserves to be in the top 10 comedies of all time.....Somewhere along the way we've lost artistry and gain a gapping hole in the name of what everyone wants to hear....GOD save our future.
10 Stars.....Easy.
Looking Glass (2018)
Good Nicholas Cage movie.
Excellent movie. Recommended. Kept my attention throughout. Not a fast moving flick but made up for it with a little more character development. Almost didn't watch due to some negative reviews. I should have known better. Unfortunately there is a large portion of today's movie audience always expecting lots of CGI which for me are movies akin to soulless software programs. Nicholas Cage does an excellent job displaying his internal struggle to fight temptation vs. doing the right thing.
Mom and Dad (2017)
Totally don't get negative reviews.....SUPERB..
Absolutely LOVED this movie!!...The micros being so deep beyond the macro main course. Micro being mother / daughter relationships and Father/Daughter relationships....Much more.
Got stupid only at the very end which seems to be par for the course with anything produced for modern consumption these days...
Can't say enough about how much I loved this movie.
So let me get to those who won't like it....If you're ok with typical Hollywood done over and over scripts, standard accepted lighting and run of the mill storylines and production you'll hate it.
If these realities are something you avoid at all costs you'll love it.
Cook Off! (2007)
Listen....To the commentary with an open mind
Completely disagree with the dismemberment of this title.....Being watched all so wrong.....The intended projection is perfectly performed.
Let your allegiance of logic disperse.
Excellent loved it....Would give it a 7.6 but trolls trash it so a 10 to realize reality and balance the poor ratings.
Thank You for Your Service (2017)
What's not to like?
A witness to someone in a similar situation I can confess to the accurate reality of this film.
Kudos to the writers and producers.....A job well done.

Wonder (2017)
Super family time movie
Excellent movie related to the challenges of just being different than everyone else. I've actually been more impressed with Julia Roberts more recent work as compared to her earlier more well known roles. Julie was excellent even as a supporting character mom. All in all just a fantastic movie for the whole family.
Brad's Status (2017)
Who doesn't have doubts?
All of us....OK....most of us, have doubts about who we could have become had we made different decisions in our life or taken door B instead of A. In addition I do believe this applies to people of every status achieved from those on the unemployment line to the president of the bank. Where that commonality ends is the vast majority do not dwell on what could have been to the point of allowing a saturation of 24/7 contemplation. Having said that and sort of contradicting myself I found the story to be 100% believable.
PROS - Good every once in a while to self evaluate where we are in life and how we became. Brad's story will inject a biting inquiry. A couple laughs....but just a couple.
CON - Too much narration for me. A sermon. Slow.
Black Panther (2018)
Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??
Subpar to say the least. Political partisanship has now cemented its ugly head into almost every movie being delivered for mass consumption. Most moviegoers such as myself take in a flick to escape today's overt political nonsense and everybody's got an agenda world we live in........even if only for a couple hours. Forget about it. Not going to happen. For me there is so much effort to preach (as that's what it is) a particular political viewpoint that it totally interferes with story and character development. Because of this I found Black Panther almost unbearable and struggled to make it to the end. Besides that, technically the CGI was wayyyy off and character development severely compromised. Just awful. Possibly the most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time.
The Four: Battle for Stardom (2018)
Really?
I tried to watch.....Really struggled to get through one episode....One of the worst programs I've ever encountered. Absolutely no karma between the judges, terrible format, subpar talent....Maybe there should have been an effort to market this disaster of a show in a different direction......Not as a singing competition but maybe a game show??? Reboot, Reboot, Reboot.
Forever My Girl (2018)
What life's really about
Absolutely loved this movie. What else could one want? Oh yeah.....explosions, quasi top end special effects, over-layered animated scenes...Nope none of that. Just a great movie with good acting and character play about the lessons in life many of us have to learn the hard way. A touching heartfelt goodness of humanity through each of our tribulations. Well Done. This is the kind of movies Hollywood should be making more of.
The Greatest Showman (2017)
Awesome Must See
Went into this movie expecting a let down as the majority of movies highly recommended for me end up on the short end of a good flick. This was an excellent exception. Secondly (and on purpose) I wasn't told about the frequency of singing which beforehand would have been met with reservations. So cool viewing this movie worked out the way it did. One of those movies which is easily recommended. I would have to say my favorite number was the first between Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron
Skateland (2010)
Rink Rats Welcome
Myself being what was termed a "rink rat" of the 80's had me identifying with this movie more than most I'm sure. Skateland took me back to those days and many of those smiles in accompaniment. I suppose this fact in vacuum would make my view a bit skewed but for anyone like me who spent almost every weekend growing up in a skating rink this movie does a great job of creating the environment we called home.......A little world of escape away from the real world. Where's my time machine?
Todos queremos a alguien (2017)
Clara has a man choice to make
The movie wasn't bad but the trailer that I viewed that made me interested in the film in the first place was entirely in English where most of the actual conversing was in Spanish with sub-titles which for me completely takes away from being able to become engrossed in the characters or at a minimum detracts from the material and storyline. As for the script it's the very typical and much played single woman having to choose between a former lover who left her with an empty heart vs. the new man on the block who's just a good guy wanting to show her how a real man acts in a relationship. If you go in OK with reading subtitles or know Spanish you might enjoy this one more than I did.
