I knew before watching this move that there were many negative reviews however I chose to give it a go and watch. To be honest I truly wish I hadn't. It was not worth the time I wasted. There were no redeeming qualities and I put blame completely on the writers and the script. I give a little credit to the editors who you can see tried to make sense of a film with no plot. Nothing made sense. It's so sad that the trailer was better than the movie - I really did hope for the best. Unfortunately this is my first bad review I have left on IMDB. I had no other choice and in this case I felt strongly enough to take the time to leave it. :(
I started watching with little background knowledge regarding the storyline except that it was about an older woman, trying to understand a mystery, while facing the start of Alzheimer's disease.
This movie is so much more. There are actually two stories entwined and often it's us left confused not just Maud. We follow her trying to solve what actually happened through notes she leaves herself.
Glenda Jackson is truly amazing in this role and she is supported by a strong cast who help make her shine. I'm so glad I watched it.

An enjoyable adaption based on the book however I would have rated this higher if they had remained true to the story. The added extra story lines distracted from the beautiful books which I love. I do applaud the actors, cinematography and music. It could have been so much more.
