Wicked Little Letters (2023)
I adored it!
I loved this movie. The battle between what a proper lady is during this time period versus a woman's right to live how she wants and the freedom to do as she pleases. In a war between misogyny, a woman's place, & being able to find your own voice. The cast was wonderful & Coleman as always wonderful to watch. It's more than just nasty letters sent in the post. It's about women finding themselves in a place & time period that would prefer them to be quiet, obedient, & chaste. Leaving everything to the men, yet they push against it. Many laughs to be had & a I got a great laugh in the last two minutes of this film! It's what he deserves! Would recommend 10/10.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
Lots of action, but falls short
The movie had a lot of action but the storyline was lacking in terms of character development for Furiosa. The love "interest" was unnecessary. The casting was also an issue because Taylor-Joy is too small and delicate to believe her as Furiosa growing up in a tough environment with harsh climates & a male dominated place. She was also too pretty to be believable because if there were women that weren't "wives" the faces of the women had scares and mutilations, but somehow Taylor-Joy maintains a beautiful face the entire movie. Also the casting of Hemsworth's wife as two separate characters was distracting from the film as well making it difficult to stay immersed in the fantasy.
Lopez vs. Lopez (2022)
Love George Lopez, but daughter needs recasting
The daughter casting is so terrible. She's a bad actress & whines allll the time. She doesn't have the talent to act next to George Lopez & I wish they would recast her. Also, she's super whitewashed which is also annoying to watch. Love love George Lopez & happy to see him in a sitcom again, & would like to continue to watch. Everyone else is great, but the daughter, uggghhhhh. She has to go. I'm not wild about the idea they aren't married living in her parents house w/ like a 6 yr old. She has all this pent up anger for her dad, and goes to therapy yet it seems apparent she hasn't dealt w/ her childhood trauma. Further she needs to me mad at that deadbeat baby daddy she has.
Mending the Line (2022)
Too much white savior trope
I turned this on for Brian Cox & it looked like a great synopsis. The double white savior trope was too much for me and it was incredibly predictable. I was ok with Brian Cox helping the main character but the white female that is supposed to save him w/ "love" was wayyyyyy too much. Why even have a love interest? Why couldn't she be Black, Hispanic, or Indian? Why would the two love interests be dating when they are both going through wayyy to much at the moment. Her finance just died! He's still having nightmares and fighting in his sleep. It was just a huge eye roll and I would not recommend this film.
Small Town Security (2012)
Hilarious
I'm sorry, but this show it too funny. A diamond in the rough honestly.
Midsommar (2019)
Interesting movie
I would have given more stars if I couldn't tell where this was going. "A Swedish friend from a commune wants us to go there". C'mon, that's recruitment 101. I found the cultural customs eerie and interesting. I wouldn't really recommend.
Man on the Moon (1999)
Love Carrey, hate this film
I only watched this because Carrey was in it and I wanted to watch the Netflix documentary on it. It was honestly too weired and I even knew it was going to be weird, but man.. I could not get with this. I turned it off after 45 minutes I think.
The House (2017)
Love it!
This movie is super funny, and I loved seeing some a my favorite comedians in this movie. I'd watch it again.
