Yes this show is no Rome or Spartacus, but it certainly falls into a category on its own! The stortylines are entertaining, the themes compelling, and the dynamics draw in the viewer.
I do agree with many of the other reviews saying that the show has a rather slow start, a few settings and storylines need to be established within the first 2 episodes, but after that - trust me, the race begins! I binged the 10 episodes in 2 days and it did not disappoint.
For your own sake, don't compare it to Rome or Spartacus, those shows are classics and should continuously be considered so. However, for those of you like me who love shows and movies about ancient Rome this show does deliver in every aspect - blood, violence, alliances, greed, power, hunger, ambition, plots of betrayal and loyalty.
Also, yes the trailer is awful with rap/hip-hop music, don't fall for it though, the show only contains music fit for a story set in ancient Rome!

Seriously one of the best wlw/sapphic series I have ever seen. Not because it deals with any big questions concerning what it means to be queer, but rather because the series does not even adress or make any deal out of Ellen not being straight, it actually seems to be one of the last things that are adressed which I love! That is so rare for a wlw series or movie!
Besides from that, Ellen and Vera just have the most hilarious dynamic, with so many special comedic and heartful moments which will definitely draw the viewer in. Once I started to watch it I just could not stop. Sjukt Oklar is filled with so many romantic and comedic clichés, but in a good way because it is so amazing to see all of those clichés in a wlw context, that is seriously something that is still missing from queer women films and series!
All in all, Sjukt Oklar is definitely a hidden gem and well worth a watch!

Honestly, I was so positively surprised by this show. I had heard about the fanfiction before but I have never read it myself. Despite never having read the fanfiction I would definitely say that the show is something worth watching anyway!
The chemistry between the two lead actresses is just too damn good, and their interactions between each other really draws the viewer into the story!
I also love the fact that queerness is not adressed as something out of the ordinary (which it of course is not), and that Valentina and Luiza are simply a couple who are facing the challenges that take place in the show. Definitely great to see some adult queer/lesbian representation as well.
All in all, great show, enticing storyline and very talented actresses. Kudos to Priscila Reis and Priscila Buiar!
