Netflix is great at producing promising but disappointing dramas. This is yet another.
Great cast (apart from Ullman, who isn't up to the role of a heavyweight character & who is virtually unrecognisable in the part anyway). Big implausible plot lines. Not nearly as comedic as it clearly wants to be. Some outright daft stuff (the two sides kill each other bar none, other than Keira's pal, in the shootout outside near the end - really?). And the unnecessarily complicated plot, which isn't explained nearly clearly enough & is left to a breathless summation by Lancashire near the end. The final scenes are just schmalzy, slow & lazy. A single closing scene with a final twist would have been far better.
Second series could be good but it needs to be elevated from a 6 to a 10.

Fascinating historical piece from 1979. ELO miming the entire Discovery album, with some animated bits thrown in plus a little enactment of the cover art. This pre-dated MTV by a couple of years. It was 'produced for television' but I'm not sure whether they produced it for TV stations to show in its entirety (as Sky UK have just done in 2024) or whether it was produced so that videos of each track could be extracted & shown separately. Or both. I'd guess they filmed the performances in a day or two, with several costume & set changes thrown in.
Anyway it's great to see Jeff, Kelly, Bev, Richard et al at the peak of ELO (& only in their 30's). Particularly good to see Richard noodling simple parts on hiis CS-80 & Polymoog(?).
