Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey (2024)
Trash
Nothing new here. I was wondering why this so called doc was taking one side, then realized it was directed by Joe Berlinger. This dude is known for making one sided documentaries as well as staging events in order to make them more entertaining.
If you're familiar with the case this will bore you to death. If this is your first time hearing about the case, go over to Tubi and watch Suburban Nightmare: JonBenet Ramsey.
This Netflix version is 3 episodes (3hrs) long and could've been easily done in 90m. This poor little girl, may she rest in peace. IMO, if you're going to make a new documentary on a case decades old at least show all the facts and bring something new. Unfortunately, this mess fails to do so. Don't waste your time.
Stranded (2023)
Just No
I'm all for low budget films but this one was terrible. I will be honest, after 20 minutes I turned it off. The female sibling got on my nerves right from the start. She did the movie no justice. The way the film opened was a good concept but she did not make it easy to watch. I could not relate to any of the characters and decided not to waste my time.
These producers, writers, actors, should take notes from the 2012 movie, Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes. That movie had great acting, great storyline, and kept u on the edge of your seat. For a low budget movie, they did a great job without having a stack of cheese trailing it. This so called movie Stranded is what not to do when making a Sasquatch film.
American Murder: Laci Peterson (2024)
Sad, Just Sad
I think this director studied under Joe Berlinger on how to make a bias, one sided documentary. Good grief. Little to no effort went into this and that's just a shame. Guilty, not guilty, doesn't matter, show both sides of the story. I'm glad the face to face documentary is out on Peacock so ppl can hopefully see the entire picture (to a degree of course). I learned after watching Berlinger's biased so called documentary, Paradise Lost - the West Memphis three case, that u cannot buy into any documentary presented these days. The degree of deception ppl will go to, to make for good tv, is disgusting. Nothing new is presented in this program, so imo, this so called documentary is absolutely pointless.
The Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024)
Just No
Did not realize this was a remake. Adding Chapter 1 to the title made me think this film would be going back to when and how the group began their killing spree. No such luck.
I guess if you never saw the original movie from 2008, you may have found the film appealing. I enjoyed the first one a lot more than this remake. Chapter 2 is already in production and I know they're going to ride out the Strangers franchise for as long as possible. If so, they really need to change up the storyline otherwise ppl will be bored out of their minds. I'm glad I didn't rent this film when it first came out... definitely not worth the $20.
See for Me (2021)
Blind Female Rambo
The beginning of this so-called movie caught my attention for a moment. But man, here we go again but this time it's a blind woman turned Rambo. As some already said, the bad guys were more likable than the main character. This film is very good for background noise but that's it. I don't want to put in spoilers, however, in your typical girl power, all the men are idiots, type of story. I will say that if written and directed properly, and with some common sense, this could've been a decent film to pass the time. I'm just glad I didn't waste any money renting it and used a trial subscription that was offered.
Dark Places, Deadly Illusions (2021)
Life Time Movie Gone Bad
I wish I read the reviews before watching this nonsense. This so-called film had enough cheese in it to supply every McDonald's in all 5 boroughs of NY for an entire weekend. Even if they would've cut it back to 90m, nothing could save this trash. Writing and direction took a nose dive. Although I've enjoyed two of the actors in other films, I think everyone involved in this one was high throughout the entire production. I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but do yourself a favor, like I wish I did, and just pass this one by. I would've rather watched a family of turtles race around Daytona. Ugh.
Still a Mystery (2018)
Rough Watch
This show can be tough at times. The sadness you feel for the victims can leave you heartbroken. At the same time, certain cases presented to the viewer appear to be missing information. For example, they praise Jane Doe, stating she's loved by all, no enemies, caring person, etc. Okay, I get it. But this angel you're describing was set up, and stabbed 41 times. The perp goes out of the way to use a prepaid phone, so nothing can be traced, and the crime scene is left spotless. I'm sorry, but there's no need to stab someone that many times to murder someone. It was personal. So, what was Jane Doe involved in that made someone go to this degree of murder?
Another example, a family stated that if it were a "white man" there would've been helicopters searching all over the area for him. Now, I understand, not all authorities act in the proper manner. But do you know how many "white men" go missing and receive the exact same treatment? Sure, the family is upset, their loved one has been abruptly, viciously, taken away from them and human instinct immediately looks to find a person to blame. It seems no one on this show understands that when we do stupid acts, at times, there will be consequences and those consequences can be deadly. If a body shows no signs of physical harm that could kill a person, why would you still go after someone that is innocent? Just because it will make you sleep better at night? Trust me, it won't. If the evidence does not fit the crime, was there truly a crime committed or did an unfortunate accident take place? I know these shows do what they must to keep the ratings up. But it's sad when they try to insult your intelligence just for more views.
Scream VI (2023)
Please, Please, Stop!
Please stop butchering the Scream name, there's almost nothing left to it. I thought part V was terrible and couldn't get any worse- man was I wrong. The two sisters cannot act. They stunk up part V and this one as well. I tried staying awake through the entire movie but the bad acting and writing had me out cold in no time. They can make a 7-8-9 it doesn't matter, I'll stick to the first two. Way better actors, writers, and believable scenes for a horror flick. And what's up with the female detective? Did she get Botox before filming because her mouth barely opened when she spoke. Only reason I attempted to watch this garbage is because of Courtney Cox and most importantly, I didn't have to pay for it - thank goodness!! Do NOT waste your money.
Killing Ground (2016)
Nope
I guess Australia has caught up with American Hollywood nonsense. Okay, so the baby gets slammed like what the Nazis did to Jewish babies during the holocaust. But please tell me, what man would just sit there and watch it all happen, then run away to go for help? Way too unbelievable. But I guess that trend running is going worldwide. Men are either evil, stupid, or spineless. Have a second star only because I thought the dog was pretty cool. Also, you can pretty much call out the ending halfway through the flick, which was kind of a disappointment. Been trying to stray away from Hollywood agenda pushing trash movies, but this one seems to be following the trend.
Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer (2020)
Seriously??
Not sure what to call this but it's definitely not a Bundy documentary. Using one of the worlds most notorious serial killers to push your agenda is atrocious. Some ppl in this so called doc that had nothing to do with the case need serious therapy. Not just one on one therapy, but an entire team that will watch them 24/7. Thank goodness for fast forward because that's what you'll find yourself doing while watching this trash - repetitive, boring, and no voice for the victims. No psychological evaluation presented to let ppl know why Bundy did what he did. And why did you leave out key players in the case? This could've been great, but man, they really fckd this up!! Shame on you!!
An Unknown Compelling Force (2021)
Good For New Comers
If you're new to the story, this doc is a good watch to a degree. Like someone else mentioned, the author seems a bit pretentious and it takes away from the real story. However, if you're familiar with the case, there's absolutely nothing new here. So, the trailer is misleading and makes you think some new truth to the case has been revealed, but no.
This is a tragic story and it's sad to believe no one will never truly know what happened to the team. There are too many questions still unanswered. The rest of this doc revolves around the author himself and the trip to Russia, which in retrospect, was an absolute waste of time and energy.
Halloween Ends (2022)
What a Shame
I'm not sure what they were thinking with this one, but boy did they screw it up. Skipping to the end, there's no way this old woman is going to take on MM that way, just down right pathetic. Especially after getting slammed all over the place and her face smashed through glass, it just made it extremely unbearable to watch.
I can deal with the kid taking on the role of MM. I would've went 150m and added to that storyline to get a better understanding of the kid taking on the new role and give the relationship more depth. Then, I would've rather seen MM die in the sewers and let the kid take over solo. I love JLC, but would've been better if she did commit suicide. Then, let the granddaughter take over and boom - the new future of Halloween. However, that's my own personal take on the matter. The way they end MM once and for all just puts the thought in your head as to why they just didn't do that 40 years ago??!! Sad that this is all they could come up with. AM is a good actress and plays the part well. She could've been the future of this franchise! Okay, rant over, God bless u all and have a happy and safe Halloween!!
Vikings (2013)
Total Screw Up
Like many have said, once Ragnar dies, so does the series. All the great characters are killed off and those that should've been killed remain. What's more terrifying is ppl claiming how historically accurate the show is lol wow. Those have to be fake reviews; ppl can't be that stupid. Or can they?
The scenery, music, and characters were a breath of fresh air and it will suck you in. Sadly, Michael Hirst wanted to be the only glorified writer, destroyed such an awesome series. And once you start pushing an agenda on ppl that doesn't belong, your ratings tumble. Mr. Hirst will never admit the series ended because of his ridiculous writing that eliminated so many great characters. And what he did with Floki is just a shame. Such an awesome character gone to waste. He should've added assistant writers and not to be mean, but his daughters are not good actors. You will enjoy the first 4 seasons, I give them a 10. You'll watch five just to see what happens next, but once Ranger dies, you really don't need to go further because it turns into a pathetic, unrealistic fantasy series.
Orphan: First Kill (2022)
Entertaining
I agree with some of the other reviews, the Esther character should've been younger. The actress did a fantastic job, nothing against her, I just found it hard to engage her (fake) relationship with the parents when they were first reunited.
Of course, these genre of films I go into knowing most of the horror/thriller scenes will be unrealistic, but that's the fun of watching them - for me that is. Mrs. Stiles/Cook I loved in the Omen; she did an awesome job and was the right choice for this prequel imo. Her character starts off slow, but once her storyline kicks in, it saved the movie for me. A few more scenes to tighten up the plot would've helped engage the audience at a higher level, but that's a personal opinion. I'm just glad to finally watch a thriller where I didn't turn it off after 30 minutes or wanted to rip my eyes out lol. Good job \m/
House of the Dragon (2022)
SnoozeFest 2022
Went in with no expectations. I have a clear understanding that there are certain shows that need the entire first episode as an introduction. Episode 2 felt the same but gave it another chance with Episode 3. By now, as a viewer, I should be entertained and counting down the days to Episode 4, but it's not happening for me. I can no longer waste my time on drivel. There are way too many one dimensional wooden characters and the storyline is meaningless. I watched 3 episodes and I feel nothing. I did not go in and compare this to GOT. There has been numerous series that capture your attention within the first 15 minutes. I have put in close to 3 hours - a painful, disappointment. I'd be more entertained watching a family of turtles race around Daytona.
Devil in Ohio (2022)
No Horror, Not a Thriller
This series is a drama at best. The title of the series is deceiving, just like the Devil himself. But he definitely wasn't in Ohio. Like other viewers have stated, it does start of intriguing, but that does not last for long. You will begin to feel like you're watching a LifeTime movie. The whole cult storyline was rather lame. I mean, if I was in an actual cult and watched this series I would be offended. I really had my fingers crossed that just maybe, maybe, this series would be worth the watch, but for me, it fell short. I couldn't connect with any of the characters especially the parents. And the actors playing the high school kids looked like they were left back for 5 years. I got bored way to quick but did watch it to the end, fast forwarding through the unnecessary parts that made me want to stick forks in my eyes.
Mojave (2015)
Dull
Started watching it, but the slow start made me become bored, so I dusted the living room. When I finished, I was still bored, so I vacuumed. Was still bored, so I made hotdogs. Was still bored, so I did the dishes. By the end of the movie, I indulged myself with Big League Chew and blew bubbles. Now, I'm being told I need to have 600 characters in order to submit my review. So, after the bubble blowing, I decided to pee, brush my teeth, then I showered and lied in bed. I prayed and prayed to never have to watch such a boring, senseless movie ever again. What's even more frustrating is having to write nonsense in order to reach that 600 character mark.
Inside the Criminal Mind (2017)
Hocus-Pocus
Trash all around. Horribly researched, bias, one-sided details. It's put together in ways of how they want you to see it, not how things actually happened. So much misleading and left out information throughout, so sad tbh.
Seinfeld (1989)
Still Love Em
After all these years, this still remains the show I turn to for a lot of laughs. I loved the Big Bang Theory until the characters started to change, or "grow" as some say - but they turned into unlikeable, non-entertaining characters. Everyone on Seinfeld stayed true to their character throughout their 9 year run. Even when George got engaged, he was still George! They didn't change him into someone else. Don't get me wrong, there are and were many sitcoms out there that are awesome! But for some reason, for me, this will always be my go to one.
The Shallows (2016)
IDK
Idk, if I'm a shark and had a choice of a whale or wasting my time chasing a little girl, I'm gonna dine on that nice, juicy whale. But hey, that's just me. Great location, not much shark, but I found Open Water a bit more nail biting. 4 stars for the bird :)
The Northman (2022)
Dribble
Too much hocus-pocus and not enough Vikings. Play Assassins Creed Valhalla, the story line in the game is way better than this film. Believe the low reviews. I'm just glad I didn't waste $20 on this nonsense and caught it on Peacock.
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
Ruined Potential
Seasons 1-4 I loved to death. They get a 10 imo. When season 5 came around, to me, it was all downhill from there. Sheldon is a character you will either love or hate. For me, he made the entire show. Apparently, they wanted the characters to grow and basically grew them out of character that made them funny in the first place.
Amy and Bernadette I liked in small doses, but once they got more airtime and changed character, I couldn't stand them.
Howard and Raj worked good together, but once Howard grew into his new role, the Raj character became pointless, pathetic and hard to watch.
Ofc I had to see the series through and in the end, Leonard should've been the one with Sheldon on stage.
I did find it easier to watch without commercials, if that helps at all. If this show went up against Seinfeld, Friends, Frasier, etc, I do believe it would've never made it to season 6.
Wired Shut (2021)
Wow
The green beard was pretty cool. When Seinfeld made a show about nothing, at least it was funny. Idk how to explain this film. But what really freaks me out is when they focus on someone's face for what feels like forever. Then move over to the second character and do the same thing, then go back to the first character and so on and so on.
And seriously, how long can you expect someone to stare at an idle spider in a glass?
There's no character build between father and daughter so it's hard to feel any empathy for the character. A new script, a few more actors and this could've been a decent watch.
Stranger Things (2016)
Wtf Happened?
Loved the first 3 seasons - definitely all 10's. They were awesome! Idk what happened with season 4 V-1. One minute it felt like I'm watching Nightmare on Elm Street, then the Night King shows up from GOT. Next comes the Ring, Prison Break, and the Karate Kid.
This series kept me on the edge of my seat. But season 4 bored me to death. Hopper's story line felt like a total waste of time. Almost everything that happened in Russia put me to sleep. The rest of the story bounces all over the place and I hate seeing the same scene over and over again. Just when I thought it was picking up, we switch to another scene that's basically worthless.
I don't get why they use multiple writers for different episodes. Episode 5 for example is a different writer and it shows. If you have 1-2-3 however many writers, they should have a place in every episode. It keeps the rhythm going and I guarantee there wouldn't be so many repetitive and boring scenes. So disappointed.
I pray Volume 2 is better.
Deadliest Catch (2005)
Mixed Feelings
I enjoy the show, but man, so much redundancy can make you kuku. Season one, the first 3 episodes all they talked about was the dude who fell in the water. Then he hurt his ankle and that's all they focused on.
As I get further into the series, I find myself fast forwarding many scenes just not to hear the same old story and I'm only at Season 2 Ep6. I'm also starting to see that some scenes seem scripted and like with many documentary directors, especially Joe Berlinger, they fabricate events to make for a better show. The job is dangerous enough, let the guys be themselves and stop bleeping swear words. It makes you feel like you're watching a Disney special.
Not sure how much further I'll go.
