This short film is a magical work of art, as the artist that this film is titled after! It evokes emotion from it's audience and captures the wonderings all adults have had. We have all been lost, searching for the light to guide the way out of the darkness of the void of not knowing who we truly are. Some of us are lucky and through deep self reflection, a muse, the kindness of a friend, or a magical moment, see the authentic self. The main protagonist, Trevor, an artist that struggles to make ends meet through following his heart in his art, grapples with the notion of selling out. He tries to navigate how much compromise in who he is before Trevor is just a ghost of himself. He struggles through the darkness but finds his light through his muse, Karyn who through her love, reminds Trevor of the man and artist he truly is. This is all done through Ian Fischer's beautiful images that celebrate Renee Magritte. A surreal artist that struggled with this compromise as well. It is beautifully directed, exquisite camera shots with some images that burn in my mind still. The actors allow you to jump into this journey with them through their strong connections to their words and you root for them to find their way. Ian Fischer is a phenomenal director and I can't wait to watch more of his films!
