The movie is good only in parts. The theme and the subject "the making of a chess grandmaster" is good, but the treatment is pathetic.
A tight script, lesser characters and focus would have helped this movie do better. The greatest disappointment is how a sport like chess is treated and possibly could have been treated. I seriously doubt if a young man or woman will get inspired by this movie to play chess and aspire to be a grandmaster oneday.
The GM whose real life inspired this movie will feel cheated here.
The young version of the protagonist and the grand father roles are the only saving grace of the movie.
