Hot Rod Dogs & Cool Car Cats (1995)
Awesome series!
First of all, this wasn't a movie but a series. Well as far as I'm aware they never made a movie about it. They made two series. It was about these biomechanical creatures that were part cat or dog and part car. Hot Rod, his girlfriend Carbs and his two pals, Dogonn and Benz were the main good guys. Carbs had a sister called Spare Parts and they had a couple of other friends too. The bad guys were the Choppers (plane based cats and dogs), Gridlockers (the cops), Scarhood and his gang and the Crusher who was the most dangerous bad guy. Hot Rod and his gang were wanted for crimes they didn't commit. Both series were good, the theme tune changed in the second series, I'm not really sure why but it added something interesting to it I guess. Not many people have heard of this great show, I guess some have cos its on here but I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a weird and funky ride with some souped up hot rod dogs!
Rude Dog and the Dweebs (1989)
Awesome cartoon of the 80s!
THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS!!! I grew up with this show and I still love it today. Basically Rude Dog was the hip and happening leader of a bunch of stray dogs called the Dweebs. They ran a delivery service in an old garage and Rude Dog himself drove a pink Cadillac as transport for the Dweebs as well. They were always on the run from the dog catcher, Herman and his not so bright Rottwieler, Rott. Each episode was about 15 minutes long and they sadly only made one season.
The series was made originally to promote a line of surf wear featuring Rude Dog and occasionally the Dweebs too. While the animation wasn't brilliant, the stories were pretty well thought out and the bright colours were very retro! I suggest trying to get hold of a video if you can, this was a great series!
Creep (2004)
Pretty scary with a dark humour
I first saw the trailer on TV for Creep but unfortunately never got to see it in the cinema. I tried renting the DVD but every time I tried it was on loan. Finally I got the chance to buy it so I sat down and watched. What attracted me to Creep was the fact it was set on London's Underground so I could relate to it. I loved the storyline, I could follow it easily and although there were questions about Creep's origins, that only made me want to watch it again to see more things I may have missed the first time round. The acting was good and very believable and there were some interesting characters. I even felt some sympathy with the Creep character towards the end when we find out more about him. It wasn't as gory as I thought it would be, which in a way was good because it meant it didn't go over the top with the violence and start to get boring. I think what really made the film creepy was the settings of the underground and sewers and the old surgery. So yeah, all in all a very good horror movie considering the small budget they used to make it. Its up there with my favourite horrors anyway! The only regret I had was I didn't get to see it at the cinema, it would have looked even better on the big screen!
