These ghost stories have nothing to do with Christmas, as a warning to the uninitiated. British tradition just happens to place their telling of haunted tales around the darkest nights of the year. Both Wuthering Heights and Frankenstein include images of ice and snow.
These stories, though, were mostly written by the relatively obscure-to-Americans, turn of the 20th century horror writer, M. R. James (the temptation to call him Mister James is strong). At least the earlier episodes from 1971-1976. I had been wanting to see The Signalman for quite some time, so I'm pleased Shudder has these for the Christmas holiday season. BBC is apparently running the same episodes concurrently.
These aren't "scary" but are atmospheric and are meant to appeal to the sort of people who believe unexplained incidents and the presence of the supernatural might be real. I thought The Stalls of Barchester was creepier than The Signalman, but YMMV. I have actually seen Stigma before, and it's more like an indie feminist folk horror art film.
SPOILER: The "baby heads" in The Ash Tree are kind of ridiculous, but I can see what he was going for. Infants can be perceived as vampiric and draining.

Flow is excellent and I don't have much to say about it, it's the kind of film you just have to experience. This movie is a perfect uplifting holiday movie and is great for any age. It's innocent enough for children but not sappy or childish so the animation is captivating for adults too. I would compare it to a nature show but the creatures are all artwork and there is a cohesive narrative despite no human language at all.
There's no annoying narrator nor subtitles for people who struggle with the latter. Flow was created in Latvia but appears to take place in somewhere like Australia, New Zealand or South Africa because of the wildlife.

Either I'm a completely different person than I was 20 years ago when I loved this show - and yes I was quite young then - or this movie is blah.
There's too much interference from the Atari creatures, it just becomes annoying and isn't funny at all by the last twenty minutes, and while I appreciated the dunking on Amazon and billionaires, I feel like the execution was pretty lousy.
Meatwad, Master Shake and Frylock are iconic early 2000s characters and I was excited to see something new with Aqua Teen. However, I just wasn't that into what they have to offer. I laughed maybe twice, and not loudly.
