The houses are amazing and diverse and the series is worth watching. That's where the diversity ends. Mostly Christian, fabulously wealthy though they never show you where the hired help sleeps. An occasional gay couple or Hispanic. Hard to pick a favorite. The Fettermans 1920's car dealership house, compacted dirt house, even the Hawaiian school bus house. Highly educated white people with educated modulated voices. I hope if the show continues they can use more imagination to become more inclusive and self-aware. I have to admit that I will keep either way. And easy to re-watch - so many good ideas...
All the seasons are listed on IMDB under the lead character's name, "Alex Cesar" as it is called in France. PBS shows it as "The Mountain Detective" but as seems to be normal doesn't have all the seasons. Just Watch is even less helpful- it is under "The Mountain Detective" and only had a single season as of this writing. It's not apparent why the show needed to be renamed at all but may have something to do with it being subtitled and presumably distributed by way of the United Kingdom. Hopefully IMDB AI will screen this review and correct the error! I am sure there is a better way to do it but I don't know how.
Why?
Honestly i think something truer to the real guy would have been more interesting.
Acting - maybe Jonathon Demme rip-off?
Plot - reality with a Coen brothers' twist?
I wanted to like it. People told me it was good. I love a rom-com. But it wasn't too romantic and it wasn't too funny. They should have gotten someone to punch up the script.
Don't bother to read any further. This is all i have to say but there is such a high minimum character requirement. Gratuitous sex, no moral. No especially good camera or edting work. Acting ok. Weird cop-out ending. What else can i say? Nithing much.
