The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin (1976)
Superb, surreal and hilarious
One of the all time great British comedies. Reggie Perrin struggles with his awful commute, the often bizarre world of office middle management and his quirky family. He tries to relieve the boredom with flashes of fantasy but then decides to give it all up, only to accidentally found a new thriving business.
Every scene and character is close enough to reality to be believable but warped enough to be hilarious
Brilliant comedy writing and wonderful acting
The ABC Murders (2018)
Terrible adaptation nothing like the story
More an "inspired by" than an adaptation. The writer seems to hate Christie's style and the character of Poirot. Very clumsy attempts to make it seem familiar to millennials with fan mail and "troll" letters sent to Poitou. New characters introduced who despise Poirot.
Death on the Tyne (2018)
Good cast, terrible script
Cardboard characters, cartoon situations, awful dialogue. Even the title is rubbish!
