Killing Season (2013)
Poor quality
I never understood how an actor like Robert De Niro can accept roles in such pathetic films. In the last 20 years you can hardly find a film or two that rises to the value of those in which he plays until 2000. If we think about it, that's the value of today's cinema. Movies like The Mission, Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter, Mean Streets, Once Upon A Time In America, Taxi Driver I think would be impossible to do today. Politics is deeply infiltrated in culture, sports and everywhere, the awards are given for the message, not for the artistic quality. This movie is about revenge and is very predictable. From the beginning I suspected the Serb of having hidden thoughts, I always suspected that there would be fights between them in which one or the other would be ready to win. This tried to create suspense, but the result was only boredom and joy when it ended. Even the end was predictable, with the American colonel having the opportunity to liquidate the Serb, forgiving him, and he having great conscience processes for the crimes he had committed.
Le retour du grand blond (1974)
Great!
Just like in the first part (Le grand blond avec une chaussure noir) I had a lot of fun. The soundtrack, keeps the same theme, with Romanian folklore performed by Gheorghe Zamfir, sometimes accompanied by samba rhythms, delights you. Besides playing Pierre Richard, I really liked Jean Rochefort's acting. He was portrayed in the perfect role, the smile under his mustache made him look like a real intriguer. The film is very suitable for watching it in the evening, you go at bedtime with a smile on your face, even the next morning you remember the funny scenes with which the film is sprinkled. It is a festival of good mood.
Le grand blond avec une chaussure noire (1972)
Very,very funny!
In the 60's and 70's France gave the world many top comedy films, with high class actors, like Louis de Funes, Bourvil, Pierre Richard, etc. This is a representative film for that era, it makes you laugh from beginning to end, it has all sorts of hilarious situations. As for the soundtrack, it's brilliant, it benefits from the contribution of the great Gheorghe Zamfir, who performed some excellent songs from Romanian folklore.
Savior (1998)
Best Quaid's movie
I've seen him a few times, but I'm not tired of seeing him again. I let a year or two pass, then I see him again. I was deeply impressed, he's full of drama, he plays very well the atrocities that fell on the poor people Yugoslav in the '90s. Does it make you think how people who were friends, neighbors, lived together for so many years to get slaughtered, where did so much hatred accumulate? It has no happy ending, like most American movies, it's realistic film about war and against war.
Beyond Valkyrie: Dawn of the 4th Reich (2016)
Boring stupid movie
Hollywood shouldn't be making historical films anymore, it's wasting money. In fact, whatever movie he does, it still turns out badly. Having a subject like Operation Valkyrie (even if it doesn't deal with Operation Valkyrie itself) and failing to get attention for at least 10 minutes .It's trying to create superheroes who eventually become super-funny, 4 people almost exterminated an entire army. The film should have a warning like "forbidden to people over 12 years old.
Wedding Crashers (2005)
I knew what to expect...
Once again, it turned out to me that American comedy movies, at least the ones from the last 25-30 years, are movies for idiots. He didn't manage to snatch a smile from me, it's full of clichés, exaggerated facial expressions and gestures that seem to beg for smiles. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn really have nothing to do with comedy. In addition, Will Ferrell had to appear towards the end of the film with some crookedness and some pathetic screams, which were meant to be ... humor. The only good thing about this film seemed to me the multitude of beautiful girls. I don't understand how he accepted to play Christopher Walken in such a stupid movie.
The Mountain Men (1980)
Not captivating
This film is a bit like Jeremiah Johnson, but it's far from the artistic quality of the film in which Redford plays. The Indians didn't look like Indians, despite the makeup. Heston was too old for this role. How to defeat a man who was almost 60 years old an entire tribe of Indians, with whom he fights in hand-to-hand combat? In addition, both he and his equally old companion had very young Indian mistresses.
The fight scenes weren't successful at all, and the moment Heston's character chases the wolves (they weren't real either) with a few pebbles thrown, is downright funny. It can be a good movie for kindergarten kids.
The ODESSA File (1974)
Hilar
The central character, Peter Miller, doesn't even have a German name. For a while I thought he was an American journalist. They could have called him Mueller, it was Miller's German version. As for his heroism and his ability to destroy the powerful organization of the former Nazis, he even made me laugh many times. When he broke into the house of the person who was supposed to give him a fake ID, he came across his mother, whom he woke up from sleep. It was natural for her, when she woke up with a stranger in the room, to yell. Not only does she not shout, but she trusts him and tells him the code to open the safe. Then, he takes the killer sent by the Odessa members by surprise to assassinate him, kills him without too much difficulty. like the movies with Chuck Norris. At least he's a martial arts practitioner, not just a journalist who starts acting like a justice. There were many times when he guessed the pitfalls, like a real experienced spy and I never doubted that he would have trouble destroying the secret organization. I liked Jon Voight in the role of Midnight cowboy, otherwise the most good thing he did is Angelina Jolie.
Un borghese piccolo piccolo (1977)
I was impressed
I've always been eager to see movies with the great Alberto Sordi in the lead role. Usually they are comedies, some very successful. This time we find him in a movie that starts as a comedy, then becomes extremely dramatic, it even makes you shiver. Hours after I just watched him I keep thinking about him. Life is sometimes very unfair to some. The way he does justice is fully justified, after seeing how much he loved his son for whom he did everything to see him employed in a good position, he also gives his son marital advice, in a word, he takes care of his future as well as possible, even resorting to the help of Freemasonry. No such films are made anymore. nowadays.
Xin Shaolin si (2011)
Good action movie
I'm not a big fan of Asian movies, however, it captivated me most of the time. It has plenty of action, intrigue, beautiful scenery and some humor, especially in the scenes played by Jackie Chan. The film is one that condemns greed and thirst of power, which eventually lead some characters to self-destruction. It also has parts that I didn't like, such as the floating through the air of shaolin fighters (exaggerations like this are still found in Chinese movies) and the soundtrack copied from the one in the movie Braveheart. All in all, a good action movie.
Les morfalous (1984)
One of Belmondo's worst movie
I resisted to the end only because Jean Paul Belmondo is a nice actor. The script and direction are very weak, poorly directed fight scenes, exaggerations at every step, etc. You can see the difference in quality between the films of the '70s and those of the' 80s, clearly to the detriment of those of the '80s. And I'm not just talking about Belmondo's films, but about all the world's cinema.
The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
A patriotic movie
The film is not bad, but it is full of British patriotic boasting. Those British officers oppose the commander of the Japanese camp on all occasions, so that, in an embarrassing scene, he cries despite the fact that he could not subdue them. How funny, the reality was completely different, let's not forget the Death March in Bataan. I didn't see in this movie that a Japanese guard beat a British soldier, they behaved very polite, although only if you read the books about Japanese camps do you doubt the reality presented by this film.
Sibir. Monamur (2011)
Impressive
It is a film about the hard life of the Siberians, hard as the climate. Although at first many characters seem worthy of pity mixed with contempt, towards the end of the film they show their humanity, kindness, which shows us that in every man there is something good. An exception could be the thief, although even he is merciful to the child. In the end, somehow things are arranged, everyone somehow gets what he deserves. It's a good movie, I'll be happy to see it again anytime. The Russians make few but good films, they have a way of portraying the reality that the Americans did not find even in their good period, about the recent films it is not even worth talking about. Congratulations to the team that made this film.
La course à l'échalote (1975)
Funny
I always see him again with pleasure, even if the first time I laughed harder. It's a comedy specific to the French cinema of the '60s and' 70s, some jokes may seem naive, but the film is funny, the soundtrack very engaging, and Pierre Richard funny, as always, at least in his youth. Let's not forget that Hollywood did some remakes of Pierre Richard's films - The ComDads, The Fugitives, The Toy.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
If you have nothing else to to...
It's a bit of a funny movie, with beautiful girls, jokes a bit ok, but it's predictable from the beginning. I don't think anyone expected him and her not to stay together after 10 days. Also, it's easy to guess that at the party each of them would find out the other's secret, a quarrel would come out with many reproaches from each side, then they would hug and say that they can't live without each other. I saw a lot of such movies, but how I was saying, go see him before bed ...
Vezdesushtiyat (2017)
So so
A movie full of sex scenes, even septuagenarians have sex. I can't say that it was boring, in some places it was really pleasant. However, it presents a false image of Bulgaria, the reality is different, I know what I'm saying. It is not possible that the characters did not go through any less well-kept neighborhood, I did not see poor people, old cars, everything is an image like in commercials.
L'affaire Dominici (1973)
A movie that stays in your mind
It is a film about a triple murder, filmed in the south of France. The atmosphere and the behavior of the characters make you think of a village in the south of Italy. with Sicilian mobsters. The cast is excellent, and the way Jean Gabin plays is masterful, dominates the whole movie. I watch this movie whenever I have the opportunity.
The Professor and the Madman (2019)
Just watch it
I didn't feel like watching new movies for a long time, because most of them are poor in quality, being more preoccupied with promoting certain interests, minorities, etc. The cast convinced me to watch it and I can say that I am not sorry. Sean Penn and Mel Gibson had some excellent performances, all is not lost yet.
Câinele Japonez (2013)
Reality
I liked this movie from start to finish. It is a film about the rural world of post-communist Romania, when many chose the path of emigration. It is a film about emotions, about the problems of old age, of loneliness. , I can say that it aroused some nostalgia in me. The acting of the main character was excellent. Victor Rebengiuc is a great actor, he was well chosen for this role, especially since he had a somewhat similar role in Morometii
Troy (2004)
Could have been better
The film is spectacular, the costumes are beautiful, the landscapes as well. The subject is one of which you could make an extraordinary film, but this is not so. What I didn't like was that the actors appeared in front of us like 21st century, not like some 3200 years ago, when events were supposed to have taken place. Only the costumes showed that it was another era. But most of the warriors looked like bodybuilders who had just left the gym. force. In addition, everyone was epilated on the chest, on the arms, they were combed as for going out to the disco. This is how Hollywood movies are made nowadays. Braveheart is an exception, the heroes of the film look like in their time, not ours.
Force of Nature (2020)
Poor
I watched this movie only for the presence of Mel Gibson. I really don't know why he agreed to star in a movie with such a bad script. 20 years ago he certainly wouldn't have accepted. For money he certainly didn't -Oh, he has enough, he probably doesn't want to get out of shape at all.
That's Life! (1986)
Nice
Like any movie with Jack Lemmon, this one is pleasant, relaxing and full of humor. He plays the role of a successful architect, with a good financial situation, a family that loves him, but still, he is unhappy. This is due to the fact that the 60th anniversary depresses him, forgetting everything that life had given him. Julie Andrews, his wife who gives him balance, also plays very well.
Proud Men (1987)
Boredom
It is an American patriotic film, with a predictable ending. There is a large crowd of patriotic cowboys in the film who will burn at the stake one who deserted from the army during the Vietnam War, disgusted by the horrors of the war. 15 years had passed since the event , but they weren't going to forget that, everyone felt ashamed that one of their locality did something like that. Let's be serious ...
Hopscotch (1980)
Very funny
With an excellent cast, the film is funny and engaging from start to finish. The simple presence of Walter Matthau is a guarantee that the movie is one worth seeing.
The Man with One Red Shoe (1985)
Not so good...
The one who saw Le grand blond avec une chaussure noir, the original, should not waste his time with this film because he will be disappointed. The original had Pierre Richard, who fit much better in the role of the victim, he had Jean Rochefort , who played an excellent role as an intriguer and had an excellent soundtrack composed by Vladimir Cosma, with the wonderful flute performance of Gheorghe Zamfir. The American version had nothing attractive.
