Secret Weapons Over Normandy (2003)
Decent game for what it is...
SWON is by all means a very entertaining game. The game makes an attempt to maintain a certain amount of historical accuracy with the vintage war birds and sounds, etc. However, it also compromises game play for the sake of making SWON less of a simulator and more of an arcade style game.
Therefore, if you are looking for a simulator that features planes from the WWII era, then this is not your game. If you are looking for a fun flying game based on historical events, then this is the ticket.
The missions within the game do mimic likely scenarios that the air combat warriors were likely to engage in, but the overall feeling was very much short of engrossing. Additionally, the game does include some "not so realistic" pieces of equipment for the time period. While this may turn a military game purist off, it does, admittedly, make it more interesting for those looking primarily for a good aviation shooter.
