Carrie (2013)
HOAHEM.
A talented cast with a mediocre script. A horror film masquerading as a superhero film, it leaves a divided focus and a messy story telling with a few bright moments.
Synopsis:
High school can be tough for many teenagers, but for Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), it's especially hellish. A shy and awkward teen being raised by a religious zealot (Julianne Moore), Carrie is frequently the target of bullies. But Carrie has a secret talent: She can make things move with her mind. One fateful night, an especially cruel prank at her senior prom pushes her over the edge, and Carrie unleashes her telekinetic powers on all who get in her way.
Don't Move (2024)
FRUSTRATING.
I was in suspense throughout but also a lot of predictability/typical thriller cliches. One minute she can't move or speak, next minute she's screaming and wielding needles and knives. It's frustrating how dumb people seem in this film.

The Shadow Strays (2024)
GREAT ACTION, CONFUSING STORY.
Too much "anjing" tbh. This film is in a tradition of good, violent, bloody Indonesian martial arts action films. The fight choreography was great. Interesting plot, but the thing is the first 15-30 minutes was great and later as the story goes, it became somehow confusing.
Synopsis:
After nearly botching a mission, Codename 13, a prodigal assassin found herself suspended from further duties. The killer teen meets Monji, a young boy who lost his mother to a crime syndicate. When Monji disappeared, 13 turned on setting a path of destruction to find her only friend... even at the cost of defying her mentor and the organization she belongs to; The Shadows.
Venom: The Last Dance (2024)
100% POPCORN MOVIE.
Fun, wild, and hot mess. There's too much plot that's never explained. Events just happen randomly with no payoff, with a big action scene towards the end. Eddie & Venom Bromance is the savior of this trilogy. If you enjoy the others you will enjoy this.
Synopsis:
In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel's greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.
The Substance (2024)
WHAT THE.
This was a wild trip WTF. The creativeness of this film was captivating I do wish the ending was different though. My take away, you only have one life and one body. Treat them with respect and just love yourself the way you are.
Synopsis:
Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? You, only better in every way. You should try this new product, it's called The Substance. IT CHANGED MY LIFE. With The Substance, you can generate another you: younger, more beautiful, more perfect. You just have to share time -- one week for one, one week for the other. A perfect balance of seven days each... Easy right? If you respect the balance... What could possibly go wrong?
Lady Chatterley's Lover (2022)
HOT.
Where the story needs to move at pace the dialogue gets a perfunctory but there is undeniable chemistry between Corrin and O'Connell in an adaptation that doesn't spare the steam.
Synopsis:
Marrying Sir Clifford Chatterley, Connie's life of wealth and privilege seems set as she takes the title of Lady Chatterley. Yet this idealistic union gradually becomes an incarceration when Clifford returns from the First World War with injuries that have left him unable to walk. When she meets and falls for Oliver Mellors, the gamekeeper on the Chatterley family estate, their secret trysts lead her to a sensual, sexual awakening. But as their affair becomes the subject of local gossip, Connie faces a life-altering decision: follow her heart or return to her husband and endure what Edwardian society expects of her.
Smile 2 (2024)
GOOD CONTINUATION
Good continuation from Smile 1. Even though the skeleton of the movie is the exact same, the presentation has been revitalized. The jumpscares are nicely done. Sound is apt. It captures the creepiness of a smiling face well.
Synopsis:
About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.

The Wild Robot (2024)
FAV ANIMATION OF 2024.
This is a very simple concept that seems like it should be overdone and tired, but it is done very well and it is one of the best ways to tell this type of tale. The emotions run this movie, and the animation and voice acting are superb.
Synopsis:
The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot--ROZZUM unit 7134, "Roz" for short -- that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

El hoyo 2 (2024)
DISAPPOINTING AS EXPECTED.
Disappointing, as expected. The first movie is slightly better, but the second one has a unique charm about social critique. This one started out really well. But then just descended into stupidity.
Synopsis:
As a mysterious leader imposes their rule in the Platform, a new resident becomes embroiled in the battle against this controversial method to fight the brutal feeding system. But when eating from the wrong plate becomes a death sentence, how far would you be willing to go to save your life?

Geostorm (2017)
"DISASTER" MOVIE
The visuals are all incredible, but they fail to bring us anything we haven't already seen in much better films. In spite of a pretty good casting this disaster movie lacks engagement and story so it ends up as a "disaster" movie.
Synopsis:
After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world's leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong: the system built to protect Earth is attacking it, and it becomes a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything and everyone along with it.
Speak No Evil (2024)
THIS ONE'S FOR YOU PEOPLE PLEASERS
People pleasers, this one's for you.
The ending is made more humanistic compared to the original. A good remake. James's acting was amazing. The story was basically almost the same as the original but it had less scary moments and less tension.
Synopsis:
When an American family is invited to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation, what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.

Joker: Folie à Deux (2024)
BORING.
It's hard to understand why they turned it into a musical, which only adds confusion. It is annoying how the movie tried to be anything but boring (at least for me). Phoenix and Cinematography are amazing but they can't save the movie. The script throws everything into a bad experience. So sorry.
Synopsis:
"Joker: Folie à Deux" finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that's always been inside him.

Blink Twice (2024)
IT WAS OKAY.
More entertaining than properly effective in sending the message it aims to, Blink Twice is twisted enough to keep you wondering its narrative "revelation" comes at the right time, but there's something off: the satirical effect.
Synopsis:
When tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It's paradise. Wild nights blend into sun soaked days and everyone's having a great time. No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. There is something wrong with this place. She'll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.
Content expanded.
Fandango-at-home.
Seulgiroun Euisasaenghal (2020)
HEARTWARMING. WHOLESOME.
Heartwarming. Wholesome. I don't tend to watch kdramas, but this was amazing. From the hospital scenarios to the portrayal of life and friendship, it was so well balanced. The main cast is so good. (Also, good music.)
Synopsis:
Hospital Playlist is a South Korean television series written by Lee Woo-jung and directed by Shin Won-ho. It is the second installment of the Wise Life series, following Prison Playbook (2017-18). It stars Jo Jung-suk, Yoo Yeon-seok, Jung Kyung-ho, Kim Dae-myung, and Jeon Mi-do.
The first season aired on tvN every Thursday from March 12 to May 28, 2020. Each episode was released on Netflix in South Korea, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and English-speaking countries after their television broadcast.
Nowhere (2023)
GOOD PERFORMANCE BUT TOTALLY UNREALISTIC.
Good performance, but totally unrealistic. This film takes storytelling to a new level of absurdity, making it a cinematic experience beyond belief. Scenes like cutting through a metal shipping container with a pocket knife and staying afloat on a container full of holes for over six days defy any reasonable expectation. The plot's disjointed nature leaves viewers questioning the movie's reality.
Synopsis:
Pregnant, alone and drifting in the sea, a woman trapped in a shipping container tries to survive after fleeing a devastated totalitarian country.

Alien: Romulus (2024)
THIS IS ACTUALLY GOOD.
Be ready to be amazed! This film has the feel and terror of the original. The special effects during the outer space scenes is top notch. The aliens are more ferocious than ever, but wait until you see what's new Alien creature appears. Nice.
Synopsis:
While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Maharaja (2024)
STORYTELLING MASTERY.
Storytelling mastery! Best plot twist of the year. You don't see any of it coming. The way it's crafted is fantastic. It creates too much of mystery its hard to escape. The acting, storytelling, and other elements are all well-done.
Synopsis:
A barber seeks vengeance after his home is burglarized, cryptically telling police his "lakshmi" has been taken, leaving them uncertain if it's a person or object. His quest to recover the elusive "lakshmi" unfolds.

Trap (2024)
IT WAS OK.
It was ok. Josh Hartnett did an excellent job. The first 45 minutes were good and interesting and then Mrs. M. Night just did what he does best which is messed up a whole thing. Three stars for acting and what could have been a really good movie but too many holes in it. Not horrible but potential to be so much better.
Synopsis:
A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they're at the center of a dark and sinister event.

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
LOTS OF ACTION, COMEDY AND ADVENTURE.
Lots of action, comedy and adventure. The number of jokes and surprise appearances could be a little off putting to people who have only ever seen Deadpool movies, but the lovely homages to all previous Fox Marvel movies was tremendous. So many Easter Eggs to the Marvel comics that you can't even be sure you caught them all.
Synopsis:
Deadpool's peaceful existence comes crashing down when the Time Variance Authority recruits him to help safeguard the multiverse. He soon unites with his would-be pal, Wolverine, to complete the mission and save his world from an existential threat.

Longlegs (2024)
HAIL SATAN.
Hail Satan! 💋
A creepy, uneasy, eerie, mysterious, sinister and evil movie. But the scariest movie of the decade? I don't think so. I almost fell asleep in the theater multiple times. I felt like I spent the entire film waiting for something semi interesting to happen and when it finally did, the movie just ended abruptly. One of the creepiest villains ever but was bothered that his name (Longlegs) doesn't seem to mean anything.
Synopsis:
In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree.

Kimitachi wa dô ikiru ka (2023)
VISUAL!
The animation was absolutely beautiful and visually amazing to watch. Great adventure, production design, music, characters, and new life new change.

Twisters (2024)
OUTSTANDING VISUAL.
Outstanding visual that range from terrifying to outrageously good fun. This film is a thrilling disaster film with an impressive sense of scale, strong performances, and interesting concepts.
Synopsis:
Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. The Exorcism (2024)
NONSENSE. ANTICLIMATIC.
The first half was a bunch of nonsense. Confusing story and anticlimatic. The only thing horrifying in this movie was the acting.
Synopsis:
Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe stars as Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he's slipping back into his past addictions or if there's something more sinister at play.

The Watchers (2024)
STUNNING CINEMATOGRAPHY TBH.
Some of the cinematography is absolutely stunning in this film. Credit where it's due Dakota, does a great job with a terrible script. Sadly her performance is the only redeeming thing in a film filled with unnatural dialogue, unnecessary exposition, plot holes and poor acting from the rest of the cast.
Synopsis:
The Watchers follows Mina, a 28-year old artist who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers that are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.
Heavy on eerie mood but undone by an obtuse script, The Watchers can only hold the gaze for so long before tedium sets in.
A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)
TERRIFYING AND TENSE.
Terrifying and tense. The cat is the MVP. There is not much else new compared to the previous two, apart from the setting in NYC. This is just a good prequel that acts as a formality without anything memorable or groundbreaking.
Synopsis:
A Quiet Place: Day One is a 2024 American apocalyptic horror film written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, based on a story he conceived with John Krasinski. It is the third installment in the A Quiet Place film series, serving as a spin-off prequel to the first film. The film stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, with Djimon Hounsou reprising his role from A Quiet Place Part II (2020). Its plot follows a terminally ill woman during the early stages of an invasion in New York City by blind extraterrestrial creatures with an acute sense of hearing.
