Inside No. 9: The Stakeout (2020)
A fun Homage
This seems at first glance to be a slow paced story, but it is carefully building to a fun of unexpected climax. A good season closer.
Inside No. 9: Thinking Out Loud (2020)
Shmazing
This was such a great episode. The set-up, the layout, the cast, the script. There is nothing that can be faulted. A great episode.
Inside No. 9: Misdirection (2020)
Atmospheric
This is a fun episode that works well in a confined setting that doesn't feel confined. The cast all interact well and the script is tight, there is some wit akin to The Riddle of the Sphinx. This episode succeeds in being dark but not sombre.
Inside No. 9: Love's Great Adventure (2020)
The acting wins, the script less so
This was a more mundane episode of Inside No 9. The narrative was delivered in an interesting way revolving around an object we are all familiar with and the acting was very good but sadly it is one of the weaker scripts of the series, so more of a mixed bag.
Inside No. 9: Death Be Not Proud (2020)
Soulja Boi!
This was a very good episode. The story within a story works well here as does the time-shift. The cast play to their strengths and the reference points are fun. A very welcome episode.
Inside No. 9: The Referee's A W***er (2020)
A Simple Theme
This episode revolves around a very simple plot. It works due to the acting and pace. However, it seems weaker than most first episodes of precious series except perhaps 'Sardines'. By no means the worst episode but equally not one of the standout ones.
Inside No. 9: Dead Line (2018)
A great attempt
This episode made as a live episode was certainly ambitious. The disjointed nature of it which is purposeful adds to the feel of the piece. It takes a bit of thought to unravel the true meaning of the presentation.
Inside No. 9: Tempting Fate (2018)
A Tale of Two Halves
The start of this episode took a while to really engage my attention and was thinking I wouldn't enjoy it. However, around half-way it improves and I enjoyed the last moments. Interesting but not the best episode.
Inside No. 9: And the Winner Is... (2018)
Disagree with other reviews
I found this to be a fun and amusing instalment. The cast work very well together and bring an interesting script to life. The ending is fun too. I like how self-absorbed the characters are.
Inside No. 9: To Have and to Hold (2018)
A slow burn
This is one of the less exciting episodes of the series because the pacing seems slow and not much appears to be happening; however, the final reveal helps with bringing the story to a satisfying conclusion.
Inside No. 9: Once Removed (2018)
Utter Perfection
This episode is classic. It is one of the several best up to this point in the series. The style with use of flashbacks works brilliantly and the pace and writing help to create a brilliant gripping atmosphere. Nothing can be faulted in this modern masterpiece.
Inside No. 9: Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room (2018)
Sentimental Swansong
This episode is Blackpool, the two Ronnies, morecambe and wise, nostalgia, and many other things. It's twee but has a message behind it. The sentiment is important and the writing is again very good but it doesn't quite pack the punch some episodes do.
Inside No. 9: Zanzibar (2018)
A masterpiece quite simply
This is one of the great episodes of Inside No 9. The cast are stellar, the story intricate and the writing divine. The use of Iambic Pentameter is truly inspired. TV doesn't get much better.
Inside No. 9: Private View (2017)
A fun take on the slasher genre
This episode is very enjoyable as it brings together a motley band of characters who seem to have nothing in common. Great interplay between the cast.
Inside No. 9: Diddle Diddle Dumpling (2017)
A gradual build
This episode is one which has a good pace and slowly steadily builds until the final reveal. It is cleverly written and the conclusion is fulfilling.

This episode is one which has a good pace and slowly steadily builds until the final reveal. It is cleverly written and the conclusion is fulfilling.
Inside No. 9: Empty Orchestra (2017)
Sweet simple tale
This is one of the lesser episodes of Inside No 9 as the story is more straightforward and direct than many others but the setting and cast work well and you develop some sympathy for one of the characters. Not a typical episode of the series but a nice contrast.
Inside No. 9: The Riddle of the Sphinx (2017)
This is near perfection
I love everything about this episode, it relies principally on the two writers to perform the lead roles, it is witty with a twisting plot-line and it takes place in a University setting much like the University I was at. Great production.
Inside No. 9: The Bill (2017)
Northern Camaraderie
I love how the dialogue flows between the key actors in this episode. You can tell they are all enjoying this and it has a quick tempo to it. Very engaging.
Inside No. 9: The Devil of Christmas (2016)
One of my two or three top episodes of the first four seasons
This is a standout episode is an already great series. The script is witty, watertight and delivers a great ending. The cast are perfect and each deliver performances to move this to another level. The tacky kitsch 70s colouring of the camera work is visually stunning and the whole ethos makes it feel as though it was produced and filmed in the 1970s. It has the feel of an episode of Doctor Who or Children of the Stones to it. Perfection!
Inside No. 9: Seance Time (2015)
Steadman as a luvvie
This is an amusing end of season episode. It is a simple story but carries some nice atmosphere, it is more comical than some episodes but that is required of the script. Steadman is very amusing and adds lots of impact.
Inside No. 9: Nana's Party (2015)
A pedestrian take on suburban life
This episode is not the boldest or the most innovative of the series but still makes for a fun half an hour watch. The cast make their best of a more mundane script.
Inside No. 9: Cold Comfort (2015)
It'll keep you guessing
This fun episode keeps you gripped for 30 mins in part due to the two writers playing key roles with Jane Horricks as great support. It is a dark episode delivered in a very off the cuff manner.
Inside No. 9: The Trial of Elizabeth Gadge (2015)
The Witchsmeller Pursuivant
This very witty episode has echoes of an episode from The Blackadder. It also presents the villagers in a fashion like those seen in Maid Marian and her Merry-Men. Fun times.
Inside No. 9: The 12 Days of Christine (2015)
Always the Best
However many times you re-watch this episode the craftsmanship is exquisite. TV rarely delivers such a full experience in 30 minutes. Sheridan Smith is an actress who brings real pathos to each role she inhabits and the support cast work wonderfully. This is standout Television and has to rank as one of the finest episodes of a television series ever.
