Scars Above (2023)
Good story rubbish gameplay
I really liked the concept of the game, but the gameplay is so frustrating, that I had to return the game. You can't save the game as you go along, and there's not even auto save either. You have to find this saving pillars throughout the game which are far and few inbetween. You can't kill a creature and go back to save, because saving respawns the enemy as well. The weapons are weak, the health system is a joke and the main creatures are 20 times more powerful than you.
Whoever made this game didn't think of a free flowing game. It's just a frustrating 😤 game. With a good story. 2/10 for me and that's because of the story.
Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan (2020)
A donghua never to be forgotten. A true classic!
I'm more attracted to the Chinese 3D Donghua's than the normal 2D animation. And I have watched nearly all of them of the last 6 years, some excellent (like soul land, Battle through the heavens, swallowed star, martial universe) and some not so good).
I would say I'm a donghua junkie.
So if you don't like 3D animation then it "MIGHT" not be for you.
Anyway the story is about a poor boy Han LI who was sent off by his parents to join the seven mysteries sect in order to send money to feed his family.
On arriving at the sect the test that they had to endure in order to be accepted was very challenging, and han li and his friends failed to pass the test in the designated time, so they were not accepted. But the sect doctor Mr mo was looking for apprentices in order to farm his herbal garden, so he took them in and taught them the art of cultivation, herbology and martial arts, yet all this was for his own selfish means.
Thus begins one of the most exciting, serious and epic rides you will witness in any animation. Fasten your seat belts as I introduce " A record of mortals journey to immortality".
Douluo Dalu (2018)
The ultimate anime.
I'm a anime junkie and this is without doubt the most exciting show I've ever had the blessing to witness. The story and the characters grow on you in no time and the action is stupendous, no long drawn out fights, just pure raw action of the highest level. I was very fortunate to watch this show in 2021 way after it was completed, so I didn't have to wait each week for the next episode. I would put my rent money that anyone who watches this would truly enjoy it. I'm only on episode 22 and I already want to go back and start watching from the beginning, just so that this masterpiece of a show never ends. Whoever created this show should have snapped up all awards for the years it was running.
15 out of 10 for sheer brilliance and that's no exaggeration.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Waste of time and money.
I'll warn anybody to not go and see this movie unless you don't mind wasting time. This is a silly superhero movie for those that like silly superhero movies.
Good luck.
Mayor Grom. Chumnoy Doktor (2021)
OK movie.
Too over hyped by the other reviewers. Its watchable but nothing new and no where as good as marvel movies.
Infinite (2021)
Watch it for yourselves, I enjoyed it a lot.
This is a good movie, and entertaining at that. Who cares about what it's suppose to be like.
It's just cool non stop action.
Sistas (2019)
I love it.
I love this show, I watched 5 episodes back to back, this show is funny as hell! All the reviews are pretty bad but maybe my sense of humour is off but I like all Tyler Perry series.
I did put this show of for ages and then I watched it and I really enjoyed it.
Jason and the Argonauts (1963)
My best movie of all time.
I remember watching this mobile with my parents as a child every Christmas. It was one of my dad's favourite films. Even to this day I still enjoy watching it and I to be honest I watch it at least twice a year. The special effects still astound me and the action is still edge of seat stuff 😁. I recently sat down and watched it with me teenage kids and they loved it.
Planet of the Apes (2001)
A good movie
I don't understand why the other reviews are so harsh on this movie. The design, the costumes, the acting and the story with a nice twist at the end of worthy of good praise.
It's not as good as the new planet of the apes movies but it still holds its own as a well made movie.
Yat do king sing (1993)
One of the best martial arts movie I've ever seen
A true martial arts movie that digs deep into the emotions of the viewer. Movies like these are rarely made so fantastic. Samo Hung directed this masterpiece and to me it's his greatest achievement to date. The martial arts is incredible eventhough there's a great use of wire work. The story is true and deep and reveals the justice of betrayal, loyalty, deceit and sacrifice. A martial arts movie of the highest calibre. By the way all the cast are excellent.
A movie worth seeing.
Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019)
Miss it at your own peril
What an anime! Most often times a soundtrack tells how good an anime will be and from the first few scenes I knew I was onto something here. The story and emotions that run through this show is just breathtaking. Anime's are rarely made like this anymore. So glad I found it.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Better than John wick 2 and for me the best action film of the year so far.
I thought this would have been the worst of the lot, but I was wrong. For me this is better than John wick 1 & 2, the action, the setting and the acting is excellent. I have heard people complain about the film is too long, for me it wasn't long enough. Halle Berry stole every scene the was in and the way she handled the dogs with the Action was really amazing. To be honest, I've gotta see this film again. Best action film of the past few years so far.
Karakuri Circus (2018)
Very creative show
Want an anime that's action packed and a well executed storyline? Then look no further than karakuri circus. I've been watching this anime for about a week now and it has me hooked.
The puppets are very creative and some are quite spooky (if you don't like dolls), think of Annabelle in an action movie. It's been a while since I've watched a good anime and I watch them by the bucket load. When overlord and my hero academy ended their 3rd season I was looking for a replacement to tide me over until their return.. and boy does this one deliver. I hope this gets more viewers because its one great anime.
Let's Do It Again (1975)
Classic of classics
I watched this with my son the other day. I've seen the film about 10 times now (in on my 50s and my son who's just turned 21 have never seen this film before. So when I suggested that he watch it with me, obviously he was reluctant to say the least. He was saying that he don't like to watch them old people movies. Anyway halfway through the film and he was glued to his seat and by the end of the movie he was saying "now that's a cool movie dad". I smiled saying this kind of films never grow old.
Nuff said.
Megaro bokusu: Megalo Box (2018)
"The harder they come, the harder they fall"
I've been watching a lot of anime's at the moment, I usually watch 3-4 episodes of a new anime and if it holds me then that's the one I'll watch. To be honest though home of them usually fade out near the end, but this method usually doesn't disappoint me. Well! Megalo Box hooked me from the first episode with its fresh image and thumping sound track! I just couldn't get enough of it, it really pulls you into the story of Joe an up and coming fighter competing in underground fights. These fights use arm mechanisms to assist the fighters... That's all I'm gonna say to get you started.
This is a very emotional anime in a world of tough guys. It's my best anime this year and it's gonna take something unique to knock it of my the spot.
How Sleep the Brave (1982)
As real as they come.
This is a very emotional movie, one that has stayed with me for decades. I saw this movie in my late teens back in the 80s and it just blew me away. It seemed like it didn't take that much money to make this movie, but what they did with that budget was quite extraordinary. I've watched a lot of Vietnam war movies and none as come quite close to this one for realism, except full metal jacket of course.
A true war classic.
Gantz: O (2016)
Outstanding
This is one of the most exciting anime I've seen in a while. The action never let's up and just pop up all kind of baddass creatures. I have to say I was also just blown away by the visuals. A must to watch to action fans
The Devil Rides Out (1968)
Great movie
What a movie this is! I've been watching a lot of horror movies from the 60s and in my eyes none comes as close to this masterpiece that delves into the occult like no other movie of that era. This is sheer fright and the psychological play on the mind is superb.
A true true Classic
Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)
Magnificent space trek
Jean luc is the best star trek captain ever! Even better than kirk. A real professional no time for romance unless it based on adventures. The cast of the next generation was flawless and each one contributed well to their role. I hoped they would have carried on for longer than the 7 seasons that they did because I've burned up my Dvd collection by watching it so many times over and over again.
Best Sci fi TV series ever!
Re: Creators (2017)
Truly out of this world (up to episode 6)
I came into this anime like I do most others, after reading a few reviews it sounded quite fun, but little did I know it would be this much fun. It captured me from the first episodes with great action, then the action sort of calmes down a little which gives room for the story to develop. The musical score is great also. I haven't stopped watching this show since the first episode I'm now in episode 6 and it's just great, intense and captivating.
