The acting is done well. I have not read the books, but I am sure they would give more detail missing in this show. I am going to now and compare. I feel like overall it tried to hard to be something it just couldn't quiet grasp. The costumes and scenery was nice. The fact it just felt like regurgitated twilight mixed with Grimm or supernatural just left a bad aura around this show. It has been done and too many times. I really wanted to like it more than I did but found myself fast forwarding through half the show due to boredom. Maybe they should have done fewer episodes and made it more entertaining with less fluff and filler.
I truly loved Diana, she was a strong beautiful woman. Kristen Stewart was the wrong choice for her. Some say she is a great actress, I don't see it. I see flat, boring, emotionless acting from her and to chose her for this role was just disrespectful for Diana. My comment is strictly to her acting in this role. Not her past roles which were equally as flat. The job of an actor or actress is to make you believe them in whichever role, that they are that character. With Stewart, I can not. I do not believe she is a royal, I believe in this role she is a recovering drug addict. She twitches and is jumpy not as the role calls for but as a drug addict would be. She gives off zero emotion as a mother would when dealing with the children in the film also. I would give this movie zero stars if it were based on any one other than Diana. As far as the movie itself. Rubbish. Maybe try hiring better cast, someone that would make be feel the emotions they are supposed to be portraying.
OK to start, Yes the music is HORRIBLE. It does not go with the era and if they were going to use modern music why pick techno of all things??? It is just completely distracting, That said, The dialogue is fairly accurate to the time, the characters are young for the most part and act as a person of there age would in a given circumstance. To the one who said the main character is vulgar, she is a kid on the streets... Do you think they're proper? You think they have good grammar and use proper etiquette? NO they are street kids and act like they are. The story is good and the acting is alright, not perfect but I don't find anyone in Hollywood today to very very good at all anyway. For what it is, based off a graphic novel, I think it was well done and interpreted nicely to screen. To the trolls, please stop giving negative reviews because you can't understand what's going on. This is the problem with most ratings now days, all people want to do is trash something if it requires a modicum of thought (Sorry for using big words, please use the dictionary if you need to find out what it means). Give it a go, if its not for you stop watching. Don't bash it for everyone else because you don't understand it fully.
