Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver (2024)
It's really that bad.
It's a movie without any identity of its own as it plucks scenes from a half dozen other movies from Avatar to Serenity to Gladiator, and of course Star Wars. The costumes look like something from a high school production.
The dialogue is equally bad, the kind where you feel embarrassed when someone walks in to the room and hears what you're watching. Plot? It's equally bad. At one point they are digging trenches to "surprise" the enemy?? How do trenches do that against an enemy from the sky?
Then there's the endless slow motion scenes. It's an effective technique but the movie can't go five minutes without using it.
And if that's not reason enough, how about a coal powered spaceship? No joke. Lol.
1899 (2022)
Great show ruined by Netflix cancellation hysteria
I recently watched the TV series 1899 and was thoroughly impressed by its intriguing and original plot. The show kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat from start to finish, and I was truly sad when it was unexpectedly cancelled amid unfounded rumors of plagiarism.
The author whining about plagiarism was gold digging and I don't know if that was a factor in its cancellation or not, but it shouldn't be. Just because they used pyramid shapes and so on in the series hardly constitutes plagiarism.
The show followed a group of immigrants traveling to America on a steamboat at the turn of the century. Each episode revealed new twists and turns, and the characters were complex and well-developed. The acting was top-notch and the production values were high.
Despite the cancellation of the show, I highly recommend checking out 1899. It was an excellent series that kept me guessing until the very end. It's a shame that it was cut short, but I hope that the talented cast and crew will continue to create new and exciting content in the future.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Complete nonsense
I liked her in orphan black and despite my misgivings, I gave it a try. All I can say is that it is complete garbage. Poor writing, poor acting and the first episode is way drawn out to long. Probably for the insertion of woke ideas, but still , too much. I'd be embarrassed to be caught watching this mess. I thought it might be ok for eight or nine year old viewers but that's it.
Better Call Saul (2015)
Great series, plodding final episodes
I can't help but think the writers should've stopped writing. The final season is filled with extraneous plot lines that seemed mostly about stretching out the series rather than delivering anything important. Imo, once Lalo was out , the series should have ended a season later. Wexlers story/exit was poorly handled as well. The redemption story line fails as well. Overall a good series but fizzled in the final episodes and last season overall.
Better Call Saul: Waterworks (2022)
Omg, this show has gone downhill
I don't get all the high ratings. The show is barely watchable, filled with plot lines that I have no interest in. It's embarrassing how far down it's gone.
Moonfall (2022)
No sci-fi classic here but...
There's a lot to dislike about this movie. Poor acting, everyone is screwed up, lack of a serious science consult, laughable lines and so on. But, if you just sit back and enjoy it for what is, lots of action and a reasonably unique mystery, you can enjoy the silliness. If they'd shaved 30 minutes off, it would've been better.
Better Call Saul: Nippy (2022)
A completely unnecessary episode.
This is the first time I've been utterly disappointed in Better Call Saul. This episode reeks of being a filler as there is nothing of necessity or importance going on.
Not since the Lost episode showing how Jack got his tattoos have I been so completely bored and been subjected to a pure filler episode. I love this series, but this is an incredible low point for such a previously excellent series. It makes me concerned that the writers have run out of ideas on how to end it. Wexler's departure seemed contrived and unrealistic, and if they leave it hanging on that thread, then the writers have truly pulled a Game of Thrones pathetic series ending,
For All Mankind: New Eden (2022)
Virtue signalling at its best
So stupid, the show is getting more and more about individuals and their personal drama than a dramatic series.
It's almost unbearable to watch over the past couple of episodes.
For All Mankind: Seven Minutes of Terror (2022)
Seriously?
How stupid can they possibly end an episode? Besides the obvious drag out conflict, they choose to introduce complete idiosity for the ending.
The series borders on brilliance at times and then throws it in the dumpster to make sure a political agenda is met.
For All Mankind: Happy Valley (2022)
It doesn't get better than this.
This series just gets better and better. This episode is superb. Secrets, espionage, hubris and compassion. Stunning and unexpected outcomes. It is truly an amazing episode.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Corny and bad writing
It's all special effects and no substance. They constantly toss around science jargon like it is relevant but it sounds ridiculous.
Characters feeling sorry for themselves constantly and way too informal interactions are funny instead of serious.
For All Mankind (2019)
Season 1 and 2 ok
Seasons 1 and 2 had their highlights and a tough slog at times with trivial side plots, but I've finally decided I can't watch it anymore partway through this season 4. The time jumps between seasons are a great way to advance the story but the way they've decided to deminish Ed Baldwin seems like desperation from the writers. The show had a rapid pace forward to the future but now it seems mired in mud with nothing to contribute beyond Chicago Fire petty drama.
Stranger Things (2016)
The last season drags.
It's obvious that the producers wanted to milk as many episodes as they could out of the franchise. Each is far longer than the story it tells, scenes that should take a minute or two to solve , take 4-10 minutes in needless obstacles placed solely to pad the minute count. It detracts from an otherwise good story. But I found myself checking emails several times each episode as they drag things out. Many cliche plot complications abound too.it's s good series but could have been better.
Stranger Things: Chapter One: The Hellfire Club (2022)
Boring
Unbelievably boring and just plain stupid. Seriously a couple years for this ? They should have cut the number of episodes in half and concentrated the story instead of a long drawn out bore.
The Untold History of the United States (2012)
Excellent and should be mandatory watching for students.
Sobering and I wonder what the world would have been if Henry Wallace had been president. Certainly better than what we got. Truman was not the man they pretended he was.
Alex Rider: Assassin (2021)
Worst episode so far.
Honestly, this is the worst episode of the series. No amount of suspension of disbelief will get you through this one. I won't post a spoiler but there's a chase scene that is so stupid as to be funny , in a bad way.
It almost ruined the series.
Yellowstone (2018)
Season 5 is a disaster
I recently watched the TV show Yellowstone and was disappointed by the slow pacing, weak plot, and romanticized portrayal of the cowboy way of life.
While the show had some beautiful landscapes and strong performances from the cast, the overall story was lacking. The plot seemed to drag on and on, with very little happening in each episode. I found myself frequently checking the time, wondering when something meaningful would happen.
Additionally, the characters and their motivations were often unclear and underdeveloped. I found it hard to invest in the story or care about what happened to the characters because of this.
But what really frustrated me about the show was the way it romanticized the cowboy way of life. It seemed like a lot of time was spent glorifying this outdated lifestyle, rather than focusing on the plot or action. I found this to be a missed opportunity, as there are so many other interesting and relevant stories that could have been told.
Overall, I was disappointed by the slow pacing, weak plot, and romanticized portrayal of the cowboy way of life in Yellowstone. While it had its moments, it ultimately fell short in terms of engaging storytelling. In fact, the only real plot point in the entire series so far revolves around Jaimie. But that too is on the nose writing.
Finch (2021)
Boring and ridiculous
A truly pointless and ridiculous movie. A complete waste of time and illogical. Mix Castaway, I am Legend, and Wally-e together and take all the fun and interesting parts out, and you've got Finch. Plot holes big enough to drive a transport through, stupid character decisions abound here. It really is that bad.
After thinking about this movie overnight, I lowered my rating. It should come with a suicide warning, not because it's in the movie, but because it'll make the viewer so depressed. It leaves a bitter miserable taste in your mouth.
Locke & Key (2020)
It's frustrating
The show is frustrating because it is so close to excellence. But characters doing dumb things kills it. It pulls you out of the show because you can't help but laugh. Without being a spoiler, imagine two characters have to drive a car somewhere that's far away. They do what they have to do, then one character decides to do the next step alone........so he gets in the car and leaves? So how is the other person supposed to get back??
And talk about dumb protagonists? It's obvious who the antagonist is , but they can't see for an absurdly long time, and when they do? How about keep it a secret from everyone else for a while?
Just really really dumb writing. Too bad because the premise is great.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Just bad
Horrible is the only description I can give. A complete travesty to the legacy of the terminator series. Linda Hamilton seemed barely coherent like they had to titrate her meds so she could deliver her lines.
Then the ending is straight out of a Greek play where they pull the rabbit out of a hat to win.
Just stupid overall.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Complete waste of an episode
This episode reminds me of the Lost episode devoted to Jacks tattoos. Unnecessary, adds nothing to the story and is pure filler. Another episode like this one and I'm out of the series. The idiots that rated this highly must be shills for the actor as this was an unneeded waste of airtime.
The Marksman (2021)
Silly shallow movie
Undeveloped characters, silly plot and the most misleading title of all time. If you decide to name your movie "The marksman " then it's only natural to assume he's a good shot. Considering he misses most of the time, it's a bad title. Liam neeson has fallen to the same level as Nicholas cage and seems like he'll take any role. You could definitely choose worse picking a movie but don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
Blood Red Sky (2021)
Pretty good yarn
It's a fun premise and worth a watch. The only thing that hurts it is the movies a bit long and it gets to be a bit of "more of the same. "
Home Before Dark (2020)
Boring
Beside the usual agendas that shows seem to have nowadays, it's just plain boring. Endless interpersonal dramas at the expense of the story kill any interest in what happens.
Incredibly unrealistic characters and interactions are just plain annoying.
It takes so long for something interesting to happen that when it does, you don't care anymore.
The Rental (2020)
Boring and zero plot
45 minutes goes by with absolutely nothing happening except relationship drivel and some of the worst dialogue in movie history. Utterly pointless story with no redeeming qualities sad to say. The bad guy wears black and that's all the motivation for what he does we learn. Yes it's that bad.
