The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)
Powerful!
To begin with I have to say that I did not know about this trial before watching the movie. So at first I felt a bit lost with all these characters and their introduction into the story which didn't take much time. Instead they rushed it till the actual trial take place.
But from this moment on I knew the characters standpoints and I could easily follow the story. Well 'easy' seems like the wrong term, because I felt so much anger and frustration. Every actor did an outstanding perfomance, especially Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, so that I could feel their emotions that they are going through. It was really moving!
Hubie Halloween (2020)
Silly
It isn't charming like the old Adam Sandler movies. Instead it consist of one silly and dump joke after the other while following a boring story. I think the funniest thing were the Shirts from her mum, but that's it. At least it got some sense for Halloween, so plus point for that.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
An atmospheric gothic romance with a mystery!
This story had my interest from the very first minute till the last. Every little detail has it's own purpose for the whole story, so that I was eager to get behind the mystery of Bly Manor. It was so intriguing to explore the characters and the history of everyone. The twists and turns are well thought out and made sense after finishing the last two episodes. I was confused in the middle of the season and was unsure about wether everything will make sense at the end, but I just couldn't stop watching.
This series has everything, that I whish it would have. Likeable (and not so likeable) characters, a beautiful lovestory, many turning points, good scares and a great ending!
Cudos to the writing, directing and acting team! So much talent combined to make another horror masterpiece.
Big Little Lies (2017)
The Monterey Five
Big Little Lies is like Desperate Housewives, but serious and with ambitious directing.
Always Be My Maybe (2019)
Uninspired
Charismatic actresses and actors, but an uninspired story with too little laughs.
Murder Mystery (2019)
Boring and not that funny
I think I even didn't watch the last ten minutes of the movie, because I got tired and didn't felt the energy to finish the movie.
It had some few good moments, but nothing really interesting and funny.
The Good Fight (2017)
Second season even better than the first
I think the writing and directing is so well done and clever!
I feel happiness watching this show and to follow the characters into court and personal life. Very few shows only get me to binge a season and feeling so lucky by doing so. Hopefully there are many more season to come!
Long Shot (2019)
Feel good movie with social critisicm
I had so much fun in the theatre watching this movie! Its clever, funny and has likable characters.
I also liked the political and socially commentary. Thinking about watching it a second time.
Maniac (2018)
Enjoy the ride!
The incredible performance of Emma Stone combined with a terrific music score and an interesting story made it a fantastic watch!
It was hard to get in the story and the characters, so don't stop watching after episode 1. Just enjoy the ride!
Forever (2018)
It's okay with some good moments
I watched the whole season and I think it's okay, but just. Looking at the peoples names, who are responsible for this project, my expectations were too high.
It's a high quality production and the acting is good. In addition it has a good idea with some unpredictable twists, but it is just not funny to me. I think they waste potential and sometimes in a couple of episodes it was a bit boring. Furthermore I had no sympathy for the character of Oscar. Maybe this is due to the actor Fred Armisen.
But give it a try.
Dark (2017)
Great mystery!
I think it's one of the best mystery shows, that are currently running. As I watched it just a couple days after it was released, I couldn't stop. Watched it through a free weekend and had so much fun guessing where things could end up. Everything you could say to discribe the story could be a possible spoiler.
The atmosphere is great too. A little town, where it's always raining (reminds me of IT) and an absolutely stunning soundtrack made it a sentimental watch.
Only the complexity of all the characters and their connections to each other made it a little hard to watch, so binge watch it! That's the solution!
