Todas menos tú (2024)
One of the worst films you'll ever see
What were the writers thinking? Let me guess, "let's make a film that is BETTER than my best friends wedding" I bet we can achieve it, why not? With better cast (of course not) better script (most definitely not) it's not even entertaining, anyone can tell that they make this movie like in 4 days.
Let's talk about the cast, The main character Cassandra Sanchez is usually very good, but her eyebrows were almost all the time like making this ridiculous "puppy face" and I think that she's getting a bit old for that, and most of the time I was cringed by her public speaking, we we're supposed to empathize with her but it was not the case. The bride, well she's no Cameron Diaz period, not nice, not cute, not charming, the only one who was as usual great for his role was Jesus Zavala.
Con los años que me quedan (2022)
Don't bother
This movie didn't know what it was aiming for, first of all they use on the cast not one, but three actors that are comedians or most of the work they are known for is comedy but no, it's not a comedy it's a drama! The plot it's boring, the introduction took forever, all the characters are hateful, not a single one is charming or nice or anything, and it ends just like it's starts with nothing it leads you to a whole nothing, maybe it's just me, maybe I didn't get it, but ir really don't think so, it's a very bad movie on my opinion.
What can we rescue? Well, some interesting shots, and that's it.
The Wonder (2022)
A very good film
I don't know if it was the introduction of the movie or the ending of it that made me appreciate highly to the point of almost wanting to applaud this form of art.
The music, the sound, the cinematography, the always impecable acting of Florence Pugh, her understanding of every plot, of every role she plays, she really expresses her feelings without overdoing. It is indeed not a dynamic film but it's very unique, because it made us realize right from the start that they are on a small set playing the game of pretend, I don't know why but I loved that. The plot it's very intriguing and the ending was perfect.
Hanyeo (1960)
The camera guy shows at the last scene
The only comment I'm gonna leave is that at the end of the film, the camera guy shows on the reflection!! He's covered because it might be raining, but it's definitely a blooper, and I couldn't write on that section so I'm here, sorry.
Ok about the movie I must confess that my initial rating was 5 but I thought that the ending was very revolutionary for the year that it was made this film so I'm gonna change it to 7, very dramatic and senseless from time to time, I think that it might be the year and the cultural differences that made it very unreal, it appeared as this man was the handsomest of all and all woman desperate but ok I liked it.
Blonde (2022)
Great movie worth watching
The performance of Ana De Armas was remarkable, I did not think at all that her accent was too thick as some critics said, her face is incredibly expressive.
I do think however that there's an overexposing of her naked body but definitely made the point of how the industry overlooked Marilyn's talent and just sexualized her, very sad story. I loved the cinematography, some takes at very interesting, visually it's a work of art.
We'll see this film at the Oscars, the categories of cinematography, best actress in a leading role, production design and makeup and hairstyling, at least those I think.
La jefa (2022)
It started pretty good though
It is incredible how one movie can radically change from being good, well directed, strong characters, personalities, even intriguing to absolutely none sense, the ending made no sense at all, to the point that I really don't know what the writer was trying to say, but it felt offensive to women, we are just irrational people, crazy hormonal and irrational. The plot was a bit ambiguous too it has some undeveloped subjects, it has some scenes that don't go anywhere. But aside all this, I think it's worth your time watching this film because the acting is good and the production, they just lose it at the end, you end up scratching your head and thinking what the hell just happened?
Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022)
Simply adorable
This movie it's so adorable, the word "too kind" doesn't even cut it, the way the character it's build, the expressions of Mrs. Harris face are simply perfect, her emotions are the ones of a child with such purity, filled with dreams, and illusion and above all kindness. Beautiful movie a friendly reminder that it's never too late to stand up for yourself and to fulfill our dreams.
¿Qué culpa tiene el Karma? (2022)
Not a fan
They completely forgot about the main subject of the movie, the karma thing, they mention it at the beginning and don't really develop it. It's a romantic comedy, and I'm sorry for spoiling it to you but it's not that funny, but it has its moments. The main actress is good I like how she acts and she's very beautiful and some how they manage to make her look not that pretty (and I really don't think that's was the idea) her sidekick was great!! I think they both carry the whole movie. I personally didn't like the disguised publicity of the jewelry and some other products on the film it was too obvious and made it look cheap. The romantic interest of the protagonist is very ugly too and not much of an actor, in general all the cast is not that strong. Nope I didn't like it.
Las viudas de los jueves (2009)
So much potential that went down the flow
I think this movie had so much potential, good quality, good actors (except for the young actress lack of charisma) they played a bit to much with the times it kept going on the past then the present again, then the past, but that didn't bother me, what bothered me was that the film had a message and didn't delivered, it could have been a great movie and it's just a bit senseless, without spoiling it I'm gonna say that none of those characters as they were build would actually do such a thing. It's clear that it's meant to be a social critic about the ups and downs of the social roulette and how vane and meaningless life is for the high class but it's just poorly executed and a bit childish.
Elvis (2022)
Austin great performer medium actor
I've been searching for reviews saying that Austin Butler actually is not a great actor, he really isn't! But, he is a great performer, I understood perfectly why he was picked for that role, his singing, his movements, everything was great about his performance on stage, and it felt down when he acted for everything else. The other character that had zero chemistry with Elvis was her mom, I thought that she looks a lot like the real mother of Elvis but I don't know if it was the script or she just wasn't charismatic enough, I didn't felt any real love between them, bad casting there. What i did like was the music, the sound, the production, the custom design, the storyline, Tom Hanks and the director.
Pleasure (2021)
The director went too far to make a point
This film makes me wonder more about the film industry than it does about the porn industry. The struggle the main character Bella Cherry was going through was exactly the same as the actress Sofia Kappel must've been, what she did for recognition, what she put her body through, at the end everything was just acting wasn't it? This film is about poor self respect and doing whatever it takes to achieve your goals.
There's a graphic explanation of how life works, everything it's about power, when you have it you're gonna use it even if it hurts, even if someone did exactly the same things to you. This movie is not made to arouse you, it's made to disgust you. Great acting (to the point I believe some real feelings were involved) I thought the director went too far to make a point.
Men (2022)
How to make something simple complex in 1:40 minutes
It took 1:40 minutes to explain that all men are the same? Ok. The creator of this film thought that he could take a simple idea and make it complicated, this film it's elaborate, it lasts way too long, repetitive a bit gross and a bit simple minded. I love Jessie Buckley and she did great as usual, but Alex Garland... if I take aside the theme of the film, I would say it's great cinematography and that's it.
A Banquet (2021)
Not for everyone but a great film
It's a great movie, exquisite like a banquet! But a very refined one, definitely not for everyone because even if you could afford it you wouldn't understand it, it has a specific taste. The only thing I can say is that for a parent this is a horror movie, this movie is about parenting, judging the way that our parents handle things with us and doing it "better" the only thing is that in terms of parenting there is no good or bad, there is no right or wrong, the only thing that we can be sure of is that we're gonna blow it, and that's horror my friends. Great acting, beautifully shot, great cinematography, everything is good but it's very slow.
Color Box (2021)
Better luck next time
The acting is bad mostly from Omar Chaparro, he can't act natural around the camera, the cinematography is bad, the first "long shot" was pointless and zero defying, the montage of the whole
film was wrong, unrealistic, the story was bad too, some sort of Rocky but with no budget and no means to an end, I mean they have a problem and the "solution" has nothing to do with it. It's just bad, I'm sorry.
Last Seen Alive (2022)
It was rushed
I thought I last longer making dinner than all what happens in this movie. In only a couple of hours you get a trip to another city, a kidnap, interrogations and even some forensic evidence and it's still day light!!! The opening scene was awful, the special effects were terrible (only one scene thankfully) some actors that I don't know where they got, maybe they were just passing by on the set, but in general if you take away your sense of time and a bit your common sense it's almost enjoyable.
Mano de obra (2019)
For the good listener few words
There's a saying in Mexico "al buen entendedor pocas palabras" wich means to the good listener few words, this is a very good film, it shows a very good portrait of the reality in Mexico, the gap of social classes it's just like that, how people live in both worlds, how society treats the lower class like they're nothing, the impotence like their words don't matter at all. Definitely it's a movie that doesn't explain that much but it says it all, with great cinematography, good acting.
You Are Not My Mother (2021)
Good non gore horror film
It's not boring at all!! This film has good quality, great acting, very good cast and nicely directed, that's a lot for a horror movie. Don't expect anything gore or special effects (it has some though) it has some subtle scares and it's very enjoyable.
Windfall (2022)
Slow as a turtle!
This movie could have been made easily in 40 minutes, it's super slow and in a senseless way. Waste of talent of Jesse Plemons, I liked the ending, but nothing to write home about.
House of Gucci (2021)
Not the best for anyone on this film
It was a bit disappointing for me, had great expectations for this film, what I didn't liked is that this is a drama but it looks like a comedy, this is mostly because of the acting of Jared Leto, it looked like he was a character of a children's tv show, and a bad one, his performance was terrible, there's one scene on the film where he is with Al Pacino, Al Pacino gave his soul on this one and it could've been great but it's just good. Lady Gaga I thought gave a good performance but it was a little bit over the top, Adam Driver was good but the film didn't had any scenes that challenged him as an actor, on the other hand Jeremy Irons was incredible If someone had to be nominated for this film it would be him.
House of Gucci is an entertaining film but it's not one of the best this year, it had everything to be great but it just isn't. Good cinematography, acting, good script, terrible Italian accent's by all the cast and of course Jared Leto.
Verdens verste menneske (2021)
We all should be the worst person in the world
This movie is the journey of a woman taking decisions good ones, bad ones, sometimes selfish and unconventional all towards to become "the worst person in the world" which actually means to become your strongest version, independent and following your true passion. Very good movie!!
Boiling Point (2021)
It's like a symphony of acting
This film is like a symphony! The only one that stands out is the way it's filmed, the cinematography is the star here, all the characters are so well described with so little information that you get a great perspective of what they're going thru on this chaotic night. It's nerve breaking, sometimes touching, dynamic and exquisitely performed by all the cast, the main actor, the chef is not very likable but I think that's the way it supposed to be. This film got on my top 10 list of 2021, loved it!
Doraibu mai kâ (2021)
It could've been good even great but it's just pretentious
If I take away all the senseless scenes I could've said it was a good movie, but instead we have a pretentious, slow slow slow film, and it's a shame because the plot is good, the quality is great, the acting is great it's just too hard to watch, i had to force myself in order to stay awake. Had great expectations it was pretty boring.
El comediante (2021)
No, not a comedy...
No, not a comedy, but I don't think it's a drama either, than what is it? Artistically has a lot of value, good quality, good cinematography, the script it's a bit painful it has a lot of uncomfortable moments and I don't think that the plot is "a man is asked to be the father of her friends child" the plot is about the crisis of fitting into a society of successful people, our interpretation as humans of success, why we do the things we do and how we based our value and our existence on things that can easily be taken away from us. It has a dance scene that I enjoyed which is weird because the main character (the one who performs it) is not particularly a dancer, but his interpretation was good. The ending was a surprise, I think it's worth of your time if you are in the mood for a bit of introspection.
The Humans (2021)
Even monsters are afraid of humans
This movie is absolutely human! How we treat the ones we love, how we torture ourselves by not letting go, how we criticize were we belong, we are the monsters in our head, and the curious part is that anyone can relate to this because we are humans. For me the star was the cinematography!! How they handle the cameras on the set was a very important part of the storyline. The acting was great from all the cast, but you have to remember that this is a different kind of horror movie It's definitely psychological horror.
The Last Duel (2021)
Nerve breaking
This is a great story ingeniously written and directed, Adam Driver as always was impeccable and who I believe stands out is Jodie Comer her performance was touching. The film is very long but very dynamic I really loved it. Specially the scene of the duel is absolutely nerve breaking, I believe I screamed twice.
