Jigra (2024)
CINEMA AT ITS BEST!!!
I had recently watched CTRL. I said that it was one of the best films I've ever seen and that I doubt anything would top it this year... Jigra topped it! Sorry, Ananya. If it wasn't for this film, I would be rooting for you to win best actor. But Alia steals. CAREER BEST PERFORMANCR and CAREER BEST FILM! This is beyond Indian cinema. This is international filmmaking at its best! A film school in itself. A masterclass in filmmaking and storytelling. Not only is it FLAWLESS on a technical level, but also has so much heart. I watched it in a packed theatre in Liverpool, UK. It made me laugh, cry and clench my butt tight till the very end. All doing it so seamlessly with perfection, down to the last minute detail. There is no formula here. It is sheer passion and dedication to filmmaking and cinema. This is the kind of film an aspiring filmmaker would look up to. Would be jealous of. Motivated by it to create art to the best of their ability. WHAT A RIDE! Perfect in every way and beyond! Officially now my favourite Indian film of all time!!! Vasan Bala... hats off and keep at it, Sir. For the love of cinema. 11/10!!!
Please do a 4K Blu-Ray release. I can't wait to watch it again and show it to everyone I know!
Fargo: Bisquik (2024)
Absolutely brilliant!
Finally! After a somewhat okay season 3 and an awful season 4, Fargo is back in form with one of my favourite seasons. It still may not be as good as season 1 and 2, but it's heading in the right direction. The writing was fantastic. Kept me hooked throughout. The acting was flawless by everyone. Jon Hamm knocked it out of the park. This is probably the funniest seasons in terms of humour. David Rysdahl was so good with his comic timing. The narrative was gripping. Despite a rather slow episode 7, it picked right back up again with episode 8. I just wish Noah Hawley would direct more episodes. Heck, direct all 10 of them! Let's hope the next season is even better cos I don't want this series to stop. Give us at least 10 seasons, please 🙏🙏🙏
My Home Hero (2023)
Masterpiece!
I watch a lot of anime of all genres. This is one the best ones I've ever seen! I loved it so much I wish I could find more information about the Author. It keeps you at the edge of your seat. So incredibly well written. If you like incredibly tense narratives and complex/morally grey characters then this will be right up your alley. Shocked that this is so low rated here and on MyAnimeList. Binged the whole thing in a day. Here are some other animes that I gave a 10/10 to, is there might be a chance that if you enjoyed these, you might like My Home Hero on the chance that we may have similar tastes; Death Note, Parasite, Your Lie In April, Erased, Psycho-Pass, Higurashi, Devilman Crybaby, Shiki.
Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
Disjointed, Disappointing & Dumb
It actually started off great. Interesting characters, very creative cinematography, and great acting. But as the show went on, it got dumber and dumber with plot holes, bad writing, inconsistencies and things that just don't make sense. I was hoping this would be a Korean 'series', along the likes of Kingdom, Extracurricular, Stranger, Squid Game to name a few. But instead it's just a 'K-drama' with zombies. To give credit where credit is due; the acting for the most part is excellent. The cinematography (at least in the earlier episodes) is very creative, especially the one take sequence in episode 2. The stunts by everyone (especially the zombie actors) is incredible and the action choreography is excellent. Just wish it was written and directed better.

THE KIND OF STUFF I WANNA SEE COMING FROM INDIA
Incredible filmmaking. Creativity dialled up to 11. Great acting, pacing, visuals, music and laugh out loud funny. Tahir Raj Bhasin is as amazing as always and Shreya Dhanwanthary steals the show in an incredible scene. Hope to see more stylised filmmaking from India.
Aknyeo (2017)
Action Galore!
Starts off with an incredible first person action sequence and keeps you hooked from there on. The film never gets boring. I could never predict what was going to happen next. While there isn't really anything that particularly stands out, besides the well staged and creative action scenes, the film does have a lot of heart. Kim Ok-Bin gives a stellar performance and Shin Ha-Kyun is great as always. Add this to your guilty pleasure list.
