It's not long since I've started watching k-dramas or k-films; however, what I have understood so far is : a) Korean culture is conservative, and b) the industry is not hesitating to criticize the current problems in Korean society, such as misogynism, domestic abuse, discrimination at work, etc.

Having all that in mind, Love and Leashes is a very brave film which doesn't hesitate to present a taboo, not only for Korean/Asian societies, but also for anyone with not an open mind.

This film is not for everyone, that's for sure. I haven't read the webtoon nor am I fully informed about the BDSM, so I can't make any comparisons or say if the film lacks, misinforms etc. What I know is that I watched a witty, fresh script, two leads with excellent chemistry, didn't get bored and, lastly but not least, I wish for a sequel. Please, Netflix, do consider the possibility of a sequel. 🙏

If the idea was to make the 2022 Polish version of Dirty Dancing, then I must say it's an epic fail. I'm trying hard to finish it off to be honest, and can't relate to anything or anyone in this film. Its premiere on Netflix coinciding with Valentine's day is another fiasco, sorry. Cannot but compare it with last year's Isi & Ossi, which was perfect for the occasion.

Anyway, I give it 3 stars and consider it as a generous review on my part.
