  • Bleak and gut wrenching

Chakra, 14 years old cambodian boy is tired of being the only one among his siblings of being exploited by his father carrying fertilizer to the ricing field every morning , without even being paid , he seeks freedom and independance, wanting to work somewhere else where he can earn money and live better, he then finds a job at a fishing boat in Bangkok but soon he realizes that he was sold off as a slave to merciless and cruel boat captain who has a savage ways of punishement for anyone refusing to submit to a working rules he set for them by using violence and torturing them to death , seeing all this ferocity around him , Chakra turns into a vicious boy himself as the only one to survive and freeing himself.

This was a moving , realistic drama with an aspect of suspense, that highlights a modern slavery in South Asia . I would like to give credit to the oustanding performance of Sal heng who delivered every emotion in such a unique and sensitive way.

The movie was beautifully shot, showing a breathtaking scenery and landscapes accompanied by an impressive music that added up to the tension that I felt throughout the story .

  • wonderful

I was genuinely surprised by this movie, it exceeded my expectation , it was a wild ride that I enjoyed immersing myself into.

The plot was well crafted and intelligently written , it started maybe a bit slow but managed to evolve into something thrilling and gripping that leave you at the edge of your seat . It was unsettling, it was disturbing with shocking plot twists elements that kept me hooked till the end .The film manages successfully to balance between satire, comedy and thriller. The two hours flied by without any moment of boredom . The atmosphere was eerie, the cinematography , breathtaking . There are some elements during the conversations that I couldn't get a grasp of but it didn't ruin my enjoyable experience. It would have been better though if they included the backstory of the guests, I would have wanted to know better about them. The movie was wonderfully carried by the terrific performance of Ralph Fiennes who was as charismatic as always along with Anya Taylor Joy who haven't ceased to amaze me.

  • Disappointed

I loved the first movie so much that I felt so excited for this one, I had higher expectations since it includes Daniel Craig and Edward Norton one of my favourite actors ever. The first half was dull and the pace so slow then things started getting a bit interesting when the detective tried to unravel the pieces of the puzzle to solve the mystery, where everyone was suspected to commit the murder where intriguing elements showed , I found myself engaged but the ending disappointed it was childish with no excitement. The mystery was less elaborate than the first movie, the detective in this one seemed silly while in knives out he was way too serious and smart. The actors did a good job though and there were some hilarious moments that made me laugh.
