I've been a fan of Bob Odenkirk since his monumentally influential starring vehicle. No not that one or that other one, or that movie. Mr. Show was one of the most amazing sketch comedy shows not to mention HBO properties. Every single scene and even the connecting tissue between scenes seemed groundbreaking. The subversive chuckles were everywhere with multilayered mayhem at the wheel. Lucky Hank does not showcase the comedic talents nor the dramatic promise shown in his former joints. What Lucky Hank is = garbage version of the brilliant and overlooked ltd series "The Chair", starring Sandra Oh. The Chair showed the underbelly of collegiate doings with gusto, relatable and sometimes outrageous dark humor and insight. Here we just have a slew of bickering characters who all seem better off dead and not very happy to be wandering through the lackluster halls of this particular institution. The only redeeming character in this meandering show is Hank's long suffering wife Lily but at least in the pilot she gets very little time to balance out all the dour rote musings of students and faculty of Sad Sack University. If anything about this show truly appeals to anyone I would strongly recommend sitting down for a marathon with The Chair instead.
Half problematic and half hilarious, just like half the cast. If you know, you know. Also, Did not need to see Tom's Middle-ditch.... this has way more than 150 characters IMDB.
The script consists of nothing but rapid-fire ping pong dialogue that's just stupid and mean without a funny line or idea. A pointless exercise in moviemaking everyone who went along with shooting and finishing this film should be ashamed.
